College basketball practices start today for my son at Otterbeien. A 2a day. Can't believe its basketball season already with weather still in 80's. Awesome to hear! Keep us updated on how he does.

Cardington alumni Trey Williams started for the national champion Mount Union football team at linebacker as a sophomore! Congrats to him and the Purple Raider program on their 13th national title.

Lets see if this works.... Here's some highlights of my son, Chase Cooke from Galion at BW this last season. He really came on the last 4 games of a 7 game JV season. Of course! I have always been high on my son playing at a higher level. I will always be that way. He has the arm and height to play atleast at a Division II college. Buuuuttt he's very happy at BW, and he was selected as Scout Team Offensive Player of the Year. I love being able to go to a game and watch him quarterback. The coaches are very high on Chase too. I'm very proud father. Here are some of his HUDL video highlights I created for him. (His knee held up great this year too. (He tore his PCL his senior year at Galion.) ...also he got decent grades. I think it helps having a girlfriend who's becoming a doctor and was #1 of their class at Galion. haha! She goes to Otterbein now. What a rivalry! Her smarts might be rubbing off on him. I do know it's helped him tremendously adapting to college from high school. www.hudl.com/v/28gtHj

Now tell me this, when BW is playing Otterbein does she sit on BW's side and cheer for him or does she sit on Otterbein's and just cheers under her breath. Curious minds what to know.

GT, i didn’t know chase had that big of an arm. patrick mahomes like Qb. he has a cannon where can make them throws across field and while on the run. if he gets his footwork and techniques right that looks like a D1 QB all jokes aside. This summer should be crucial for him for getting stronger fast and working on that drop back. Pretty impressive throws on some of those.

This summer should be crucial for him for getting stronger fast and working on that drop back. Pretty impressive throws on some of those. I was following Kent State last year with all their quarterback injuries and all..down to a Freshman and getting killed. It's ironic, because they spoke to Chase after the BW football camp and said they (along with Bowling Green at Massillon) loved how he threw there. But all college interest went to the wayside when I'm sure they found out about Chase's GPA from High School. It's unfortunate, but it's his fault and no one else. Coach Hilvert (Chase's Head Coach) when introduced the award Chase won, he said, "I saw this player take a snap at his own 5-yard line and throw a 65 yard pass on the dime...I said to myself, "Did I just see that....." All his teammates instantly looked back and were shaking their heads up and down. Chase was shocked. He had no clue. I asked him when did he know it was him. He said, "Honestly dad I had no clue he was talking about me until he announced my name." hahaha! Thanks for the nice things you said also. I know he would appreciate them. Chase texted me the first day of lifting which was on MLK day. He said, "Dad! The workout was hard. I literally puked. I've never puked before working out. I can't even walk...." ha! So hopefully they are putting him thru the wringer, and he will get faster. That's the most important thing I want to see in the off-season...get faster. He could be a load. He's fast once he gets those long legs moving, but he's not quick in those first few steps. I would love to see him become more mobile. He also has to work on staying in the pocket. He's big enough to take a hit. He wants to bail too quickly at times. The last like 3 games he became way more comfortable in the pocket and made some nice throws. He made a real nice one against Mount Union, but they made that film "private" for some reason. I couldn't put any of his throws and runs against Mount Union on the HUDL. I think it's because Mount Union is the one who filmed it.

It will be hard for her once Chase becomes the starting QB for BW (if it ever happens) to cheer against BW. I hope. Ha! Here's a picture of them..acting a fool together . ha!

I have never been to Marietta, Wilmington's, John Carroll's or Ohio Northern new field yet but give me time. Good Luck to your son next year proud papa.

You got to go to one of their games some time....one bleacher but all the dorms and fitness center (glass walls) are like right across on the other side...like basically right up against the field. Students just watch the game on a cycling bike in the fitness center or look out their windows in their rooms. I think that's pretty cool. I never did find any stadium parking. It was the craziest set up I have seen in that aspect. We drove around the stadium twice, then just finally parked along side a street. It looks like the whole campus is packed around the stadium. whoops I think that was Case Western's stadium now that I think of it. Yeah! It was Case Westerns..not John Carroll's. Sorry! hahaha!

Sounds like you been to a lot of stadiums or maybe just to much beer to remember which ones you been to. Either one sounds good to me. My son love JC's press box area along with Heidelberg's, Capital's, O-Northern being that they are brand new they pretty much compete with some of the D-1's press boxes.

Just a quick update on my son, he won (well tied for it with a Junior or Senior on the team) - "Offensive Scout Player of the Year". I think he was the only other Freshman recognized, one got a letter, but you had to play varsity (Chase didn't.) The Head Coach had a good opening on Chase about how its hard being the big thing on a High School, then coming and starting fresh on a college campus where you start out no one knowing you. He said, "I saw this kid on his own 5-yard throw a 60-yard pass on a line, and I said to myself.."Did I just see what I think I just saw?" haha! Went on to say other things about potential. I asked Chase when did he know he was talking about him. Chase said, "Dad! I didn't know he was talking about me until he called my name." The damn boy is clueless! Ha!

Now dad, You got to remember what it was like when we were at that age. Was his girlfriend there with him. If she was I bet his mind was not on the coach speaking at the time. How is his grades doing, hope he's keeping them up for the season. How is BW looking for next year. Muskingum just hired them a new coach for next year about a couple weeks ago. He was the QB coach for University of Florida last year. Hope he does better than this last coach. My oldest son was already a student there but my youngest son was looking at maybe playing there but after meeting the head coach and the other line coaches my son, wife and I was not impress with them we even thought that I could coach that team better than they could. Be prepare since this coach came from Florida, you know it's gonna be a spread offense.

When Chase saw Baldwin Wallace walk out onto the field about 2 years ago he was unimpressed and said they looked smaller than his Galion "playoff" football team of years ago. ha! But yeah Chase and his girlfriend has been together for 18 months now, so yeah he might not have been listening. haha! We actually both just yesterday had an American Legion interview up in BW's library from Chase getting that basically full-ride scholarship (for at least one year we will see about this upcoming year by May if he gets it again). They drove over from Indianapolis to do the video interview. Chase was soooo rough in it. Me? As you can see on here, I babbled like a young teenaged girl. haha! It was pretty cool of them. They were interested in the story of Chase moving from Crestline to Galion his Junior year and me making the move from Wooster..the sacrifice we all made and getting the scholarship. So we will see if we make the National website now for the American Legion. They are gonna have to cut and paste Chase's interview. I was cringing. HahaHa! How is BW going to look? I would expect better than last year...Junior QB now a Senior and has been running the show for this his 3rd year now. Chase said we didn't lose many kids. A star linebacker we lost, but overall we good be decent. They might have Chase punt. They wanted him to do it yesterday I guess he did pretty good. I guess their punter last year was their field goal kicker or something like that. Chase has looked good in practice so far. They just started their 4-week spring ball last week. He said he's throwing the ball crisp. He's up to 220 lbs now too in their lifting program. This should be an interesting year for him. I'm hoping for some call-ups to be at least the backup quarterback, because I just can't see the coach benching their senior quarterback. Buuuttt who knows we will see. I'll be watching stats on Muskingum. I wish them the best of luck too.

Tiger, It's good to hear that he might get the Legion Scholarship, that is a great honor to receive that scholarship because there are usually a lot of apps. for it. Glad to hear that BW asked him to try out as a punter but tell him to remember to test the wind before he punts. It does get a little weird up there. I remember one time at the old muni. stadium a punter had to kick it into the wind but the punt only went for -15 yards. It was tough kicking into that wide open end of the stadium and when that wind comes off that cold lake in late November, early December it played havoc with that ball. Pump your chest proud Tiger you deserve it.
