D6 Region 23 Quarterfinal
Northmor is making their 1st ever playoff appearance (congrats to them), and Fort Frye their 6th

In D6 football when you have the best play maker on the field anything's possible as long as there's not a St something in the opponent's name.

Northmor has my vote on this one. I doubt Fort Frye will have an answer for Johnson. Becker is nothing to sleep on either. Other forums suggest that Fort Frye has success against teams that run the ball, but I'm going to take a wild guess and say they have not exactly had to prepare for ball carriers like Johnson and Becker.

Let's hope the three hour bus ride down to Beverly isn't too much to overcome at the beginning of the game.

Well, they have the debacle at the end of the East Knox game to thank for that. Fortunately, defense and a sound running game travel well.

If the Becker brothers are as good at football as they are at wrestling, Northmor wins. I'm ready for wrestling season.

If the Becker brothers are as good at football as they are at wrestling, Northmor wins. I'm ready for wrestling season. The older one is just as every bit as fast as Meech. Not as smooth, obviously not the same moves or elusiveness, but straight line speed just as fast if not a step faster.

I am familiar with Conan and Conor. Have been watching the Northmor wrestling team.

We'll see about that during track season. Given "Meech's" resume in D1 I doubt it will be that close.

We're not talking about track speed we're talking about speed with the football in your hand. I know Galions football season is over, but Northmors is not. If you've seen Northmor play you would understand that straight line speed Conan is as fast as Meech. None of the other intangibles, just in terms of pure speed.

Does Meechie wrestle? Not that Northmor needs anymore, but he seems like a great athlete.

"Straight line speed" is what they measure in track and field. What I am rambling about is that you are comparing the "pure" speed Conan has with that of a 2 time D1 track and field All Ohioan. So you'll have to excuse me if I find your conclusions highly unlikely. I'll believe it when I see it on the track.

I can't tell you whose faster on the track. I could care less about track. Point being if Fort Fry does not have anybody that can keep up with the speed of Meech then I doubt they have anyone that can keep up with the speed Becker as well.

I thought your point was that one of the Becker brothers was "just as fast if not a step faster."

He is just as fast if not a step faster on the football field. That go's hand in hand with the fact that if Fort Frye doesn't have the speed to match up with Meech then they also don't have the speed to match up with Conan Becker. You need an aweful lot spoon fed to you. This argument is stupid, I'm not calling Meech slow, I'm saying Northmor has some freaking fast kids. Meech is a playmaker. Very smooth, very shifty, incredible ball player, makes people miss, incredibly fast, in terms of the fast category I think Conan Becker may be slightly faster or just as fast. Good God, it's not an insult at Meech, it's a compliment to Becker.

Easy there slugger, all I'm saying is given the kids "track record" from Harding I'll believe that when I see them come out of the blocks. It's not a big deal really. So long as Conner runs track we will know definitively this spring.

Alright I see. If Conan and Meech both happen to run the 100m this spring let me know who wins. You could very well be right, I'll eat my crow if so. Fort Frye ran the wing-t last year and in readings it appears they do the same this year. The only schools that put up 30 on Northmor this year were those that could consistently work through the air. Only 3 schools have held Northmor to under 30, but even those Northmor still put up 21, 26, and 28. If Fort is a run dominant team then they need to not turn the ball over and put together long drives...even if they do not score on a drive they need to find a way to milk the clock and keep that ball out of Northmors hands. They can't panic at the first sign of trouble as they did vs Newark Catholic last year, because they are going to have trouble like it or not. At the end of the day I think Northmors O will be too much. If Northmors D builds off of their efforts from last week I think they could potentially get this one without too much trouble.

I hope that your right, if Northmor can make any kind of playoff run that would be a great story.

Last year Johnson did run the 100m but it was not for Harding and not in D1. He ran for Northmor in D3 and was All-Ohio in long jump.

Meechi Johnson was only at Marion city schools for about 4 weeks and that was in 8th grade. Lasted less than a week on the 8th grade football team before the streets took him. Best thing to happen to him was going to Northmor. Hard to believe Harding had Meechi, Titus and Blevins. Oh the woulda coulda shoulda...

Titus was his own worst issue and I don't think there was any way to stop that train wreck.

Heard this was one of heck of a ball game to catch. 7-0 Fort Frye is the score I heard. Congrats to Northmor on the week 11 appearance!

Hopefully someone was there and can explain what happened in this one....I saw where Johnson was taken off by squad and then following game on Twitter I saw Northmor had ball on Fort Frye 10 with 1 min left and next I know the game is over and Fort Frye won.

Was not there either lol but the report I had received was that the squad had came to get Johnson, but ended up being some form of a false alarm. He was hurt that part indeed was true and they did bring out the squad, but I believe he returned later in the game and even got himself an interception. Turns out it was a blessing that it was not an emergency as the ambulance apparently got stuck on Fort Fryes field and the players on Northmors sideline needed to push it out.
