I don’t mean to be dense, but can you clarify? Field turf as in artificial? Turf also refers to real grass especially the kind you buy rolled up and planted. If artificial/field how’s it being payed for? Are they going to widen the visitors bench area? I saw an official get a knee blown out because he had nowhere to go to avoid a player coming at him. That narrow sideline is dangerous.

It is legit artificial turf going in! Maumee bay coming in to do it for over 500k dollars! It will be done very soon! Crews have been at it 24/7 since literally 10 minutes after the Calvert game ended and huge progress has been made!

This is why Fox wasn’t hired it all makes sense now. If the Flashes made the playoffs the turf installation would be put on hold.
Touché task force!

Will be really nice to have a place in between Sandusky/Fremont and Mansfield for playoff games (football and soccer). Much needed.

The master plan is almost complete. Just wait until you see the logo in the middle of the field. A Giant Soccer Ball. Yeah baby. The football team doesn't know it yet but they will have to play games up at the track if they want to continue their charade. The Soccer program gets to play under the lights on Fridays in Willard now.

First, congrats.
Second, can anyone answer my question about the visitor sideline?

Phase 8 of this master plan is expanding the stands on the home and visitor side to accommodate 7,000 Soccer fans. Willard Soccer is going to be the premier D3 program in the State of Ohio. Crowds are going to pack the Stadium on Friday nights. This is going to be great. I'm giddy.

That plan is stupid, they don't have enough room along the sidelines even for 6th. grade games. I have been to Willard when Norwalk played them and every time there was a play that was run wide and when the players were being tackle they would come sliding into that damn fence and some times they would get injured from it and in some cases they hit it so hard that they might be out for the rest of the season. Maybe OHSAA should stepped in and tell schools like Willard to widen their field a little.

This is what it should look like after Phase 8 "Stadium expansion" is complete. The crowds will be huge to watch Willard Soccer. Phase 8 should be completed by 2027.

Maybe OHSAA should stepped in and tell schools like Willard to widen their field a little. I'm pretty sure the OHSAA guidelines say there needs to be 30 foot (10 yards) between the field and the outer perimeter or fence. If I had to guess the visitors sidelines is right at 10 yards. I could be wrong but I do agree it should be widened to reduce injuries bc it does get a little tight on that side. Drugmart will have to tell you what the soccer regs are. bc Im sure they're different and probably better according to him.

Jakeman, I think they might have to move it back a little because unless I can't see right on Muskingum University's field soccer plays on a wider sideline. I might be wrong on that but I don't know because I never have liked Soccer.

Just drove by the field and there no expansions on the visitor sidelines as of now. All the original fence post are in the ground and Maumee is working around them. My guess is if they had plans for expansion they wouldn't be working around each of the post. I'm wrong all the time so who knows.

If I had to guess they will just reposition the field so it is even on both sides. That would be my guess. I hope for the visitors sake. LOL

This is a huge surprise. With enrollment numbers down and the town losing employment plus the football teams being down for so many seasons, a surprise. The bigger issue is getting a coach that wants to work at Willard and does travel 72 miles, a hour and 10 minutes drive one way everyday.

I guess it makes sense they could just shift the boundaries if the home side has the room. The game I mentioned was the only game I’ve ever seen the alternate official used. The side judges knee went nauseatingly the wrong direction. Probably ended his career. He was older and a little heavy already.
