Looks really nice...was hoping Shelby's K-8 building and new stadium would have passed so they could have something that looks as nice as this. Very shortly, parts of the home seating in Shelby will be blocked off and nobody will be permitted to sit there.

I have kids that play primarily on this turf...they prefer the natural grass, especially if you have to play in the sun in August and September. The fields radiate heat from the black pellets.
I also like to watch games played on natural turf...mud and dirt are part football to me, I am just getting old though.

I also think that football should be played on grass. There is nothing like sliding in the mud, kicking up water, and getting that uniform, especially if the whole uni's are white, all muddy to where you can't even read the numbers. Those were great times. My senior year it seem that it rain almost every Friday and so we played in nothing but mud. A lot of our mothers didn't want our muddy uniforms in their washer so our dads would hand us the car keys and told us to go wash the car along with our uniforms.

I have to say that after being on some of the Pro-Turf fields in the area and walking on and getting down and just sticking my fingers down into the turf up to the first knuckle it still feels harder than natural turf. I agree that you stay a lot cleaner after the game on turf but if you know what your doing on maintaining the grass, the crown, and the amount of sand on the field and the drainage on it you can have a grass field just as good or even better than Pro-Turf. Norwalk's Whitney Field is a lot better now than what it use to be. We found out that someone put the drainage tile in wrong so that was taken care of. Then we had 10 to 12 teams playing on it. That was taken care of by building a reserve field behind the new high school and having the JV's, Freshman, 7th. & 8th. grades along with the 6th. & 5th. grades games on that field. You almost can't see any bare spots on the field like you use to. Both fields look nice and imo feel soft like a shag carpet. As I'm doing this I just saw that the field in the big ten title game, the carpet just came up and they are working hard to fix it. If this was grass you just put the dived back in place and it will start growing again. No money involve to fix it or maybe replace it.

Sportsvideo: Why don't you come on down in the summer and I'll show you around at both fields and then we can meet at Huron and you can show me around there and we can tell each other some tall tails of our playing days.

Hopefully they did a better job installing this turf than the Lucas Oil Stadium crew did

Hopefully they did a better job installing this turf than the Lucas Oil Stadium crew did I hope so to. I have never seen anything like that before. The only thing that I can remember that might come close to it was a baseball game being called off because of rain coming in though the roof. You heard right, it happen down at Houston's Astrodome. I can't remember the date or the team that Houston was playing but it was raining so hard that was coming though the roof and causing some trouble on the field that the umpire called the game. Now don't that beat all.

Turf at Lucas Oil Stadium - they put an additional turf on top of a turf in the endzones, it was not stitched down like a normal turf would be, (it was velcro together) which usually holds for an occasional use, but not last night..

Willard's new field is really soft and has a lot of give. I didn't walk on the "W" for that is sacred land but the rest of the field was legit. Still has that new carpet smell. I'm sure DrugMart is looking forward to a lot of future state championship soccer teams on that field.
