Minster and those western Ohio farm schools are tough. Embrace the underdog role, Flyers! You got this!

Minster and those western Ohio farm schools are tough. Embrace the underdog role, Flyers! You got this! Not so fast now spf30. Every time St. Paul's play's a MAC team they almost always lose. The only time they beat a MAC school was 2009 State Championship game against Delphos St. John's. But even now St. John's owns the series 2-1 and all in the State Championships games. The Maria Stein Marion Local series I believe is 3-0 in favor of Marion Local. Scott T. I think you would know more about this than I do. With the Marion Local series Marion Local beat St. Paul's 2 times in the State Championship games and once in the Regional games. These are the reason that I am picking Minster over St. Paul's even though my son, who was on that 2009 team, I should never pick against St. Paul because I lose every time I do.

Obviously Minster is very good. I saw them against Convoy Crestview, and one can very easily argue that Crestview should have won that game. I'll just say I like St Paul's chances Friday night. I'll be on the sideline for the game.

I think all that really matters is discussing the fact that private catholic schools need their own division! So hard for public schools to be able to compete with some of these all star teams that these private schools can acquire! Just not really fair

Just not really fair Unconcernedcitizen: I really don't think that in the small divisions it really doesn't matter about the private schools being in the state playoffs with the public school's. Division 5,6,and 7th. the privates really don't dominate the playoffs at all. Now in division 1,2,3 and maybe 4th. they do dominate the playoffs with the recruiting they can do. I'm not saying that the lower divisions don't recruit, they just don't get enough of players to really make a different.

I just do not believe it is fair for these public schools that even if they could make their best team from the past decade that they could not beat the private schools they lose to in the playoffs! How is that fair for these kids?

Only 4 Catholic schools make it the final 4 in the entire state. Maybe the competitive balance is working

i agree with deathfromabove that the smaller schools dont get the players that d-1,2,3 and maybe 4 get pluss smaller schools dont have the staff like the bigger schools to go out and recruit.

this division is extremely watered down this year. I think they should go back to 6 divisions but ohsaa wont give up the thousands of dollars involved, money money money. Its just not a good product until you get to the final 8, or this year the final 4.

beating up on Plymouth, Monroeville, south central, new London, st marys, and the likes don't help st paul when it comes this time of the year. minster is a real football team. id like to see st paul beef up their schedule even if it means losing some non league games. huron was a great game for them.

Huron had vacancies on the schedule for next year and after, St Paul turned the opportunity down, for some reason.

I agree with you robinhood. St. Paul's was playing Huron for 4 years when they won the State Championship in 09. They beat them 3 out of 4 times.

Huron had vacancies on the schedule for next year and after, St Paul turned the opportunity down, for some reason. Heard from someone else on here that it was the Toledo Diocese's say-so about playing the local Catholic circuit of old (Calvert, St. Joe, SMCC), though I highly doubt that. Hard to build a conference of strong programs as a collective when everyone "plays it safe" w/ their non-con schedule (which hasn't even guaranteed Ws for anybody but SP lately). Then it's back to being like a bad Three Stooges sketch, where year after year the teams take turns slapping each other round-robin style, with an obligatory acceptance of a two-fingers-in-the-eyes from NSP, the FC's "Untouchable Moe."

Or maybe St. Paul just ran up against a very talented Minster team?... Do you honestly think playing Huron this season instead of one of the other teams on their schedule would have had a major impact on the 33 point differential? Such an ignorant statement. They beat their first 3 playoff opponents 146-27. Pandora Gilboa was beating (12-2) Liberty Benton in the 4th quarter. Pandora was a quality team. Seems to me that St. Paul has things under control pretty well, most teams would kill for a 13-1 season. Great season Flyers!

When they got down last night 20-7 you could tell Flyers knew it was over for 2 reasons. 1) they hadn’t played from behind all season. Yes, I know Mapleton was up but nobody thought SP was losing. 2) SP was just physically dominated by Minster. Nobody on their schedule even remotely matched what Minster brought. 7 divisions is too many. Different topic I know

Different topic I know St. Paul definitely ran into a very good football team, there is no doubt about that. And there is no shame in getting beat by a team of that caliber. My point is that they don't see enough good football teams in the season that will somewhat help prepare them for when they do a see a good football team. Lets be real they didn't play a good football team until the final 4 this year. You can say whatever about PG but they are not a traditional final 8 team. This division is a joke in my book anyway, there should only be 6 divisions, its all about making money, they will spin in that more teams get in so its better, and I somehow agree with it I know that's contradictory, but its too watered down, too many teams traveling 100+ miles (see wayne Trace) only to get their buts handed to them 56-0 or whatever it was. Is that really good? St. Paul is a good football program, with coaches that know how to coach, but they can't simulate what they are going to run into at this point in the year.
