With the unfortunate passing of Vermilion's coach, they will obviously be looking for a new head coach. I believe Norwalk will be making a move. I know some Perkins posters are hoping for a change, is that a possibility? Any other schools that might make a change?

Norwalk would be foolish to get rid of Mac. Fire the coach who led them out of the cellar.

Redskinfan: I know that there are people out there that want a new coach and I for one have also stated that we should be looking for one. The reasons that people are saying is because we should not be scheduling teams that are 2-3 divisions below us. We should be playing ones that are from division 1 to, (maybe) 4 and start picking good quality teams so we could get ourselves ready for conference play. Some of these people say he is not preparing the kids right for game night. There are other things being said but I'm going to right a book about it. So there are people over here that want the school board to do something about Norwalk's football program right now.

Norwalk would be foolish to get rid of Mac. Fire the coach who led them out of the cellar. Turner had a lot to do with them getting out of the cellar. Norwalk had a talented group this year, played a lot of teams with better records well (Sandusky, Bellevue, Clyde). The lack of wins is discouraging and people in power don’t like moral victories so much.

Norwalk had a 3 or 4 year run where they were loaded with talent, and the coach benefited. And he won 1 playoff game? Has lost multiple games to inferior opponents. Has no signature win during his tenure. And was quoted as saying he's happy with 12 kids per class in his program. Definitely time for a change, regardless of what it looks like to those not in Norwalk.

With a .500 season last year and a 2-win season this year, I believe Ziegler should be afforded two more years to right the ship: one year to get the program off its knees, and another to set it back fully on course to be Lake Div. contenders. Everybody has down years; it's just the swing of the pendulum.
I know I've given him a hard time in the past, but if we can withhold credit due to coaches by arguing they had talented players, we can excuse them a year or two when the well runs a little dry. I don't know what sort of talent is coming down the pipeline for Perkins, but I doubt we'll see another Irby anytime soon. A better bet for Ziegler would be to find a COACHING talent in the mold of Gary Quisno; if he can do that, he might have a chance to indeed right that ship in two years or so.

Let’s face it, Ziegler benefitted a lot from Sandusky kids coming over from open enrollment in the past. Not many of those kids left in the program now. Saw Perkins play some freshman and JV games and I don’t think there’s much coming up in the program. At least not enough to contend with Sandusky, Clyde and Bellevue.

Saw Perkins play some freshman and JV games and I don’t think there’s much coming up in the program. At least not enough to contend with Sandusky, Clyde and Bellevue. No doubt. OE was a double-edged sword for Perkins, one that led to more bleeding out for Perkins itself than for its opponents. Initially, OE @ Perkins was a vehicle for certain families to get their kids away from the drama and distraction of their own school district, but waves of others from the same district would follow. Like the President has said about a certain country south of the border, "they weren't sending their best" at that point. The desire for a good education was there, but no clue that a school district's culture doesn't shape the behavior of students, the FAMILY does - at home - and that it's the student's behavior and choices that make the school culture. When Perkins began to look more and more like the school district many had fled, the wheels came off, especially after Sanders started pumping serious lifeblood into SCS. Between the imported player talent and the coaching talent that was always on borrowed time, Perkins had it good. As I said before, if Ziegler can find some coaching talent in the mold of Gary Quisno, or Perkins somehow finds a diamond in the coal mine of upcoming player talent, he may skipper the Pirates through the 2020 campaign. Alone, he lost - he's neither a great motivator nor great football mind, from what I've heard and seen.

So lets see basketball plays plays more games but also has 3 or 4 smaller schools on its schedule. (you're playing D-4 south central this year) Norwalk did not have a great season last year.. 7-15 the year before that they were 10-12 and 11-11 the year before that.. and lets face it the NOL hasnt been that good. so would you think a change in basketball is also coming???

I hope that answer would be ok with you.

The SC game was a pick up from another school that dropped, just a game to play during the Christmas break really. Norwalk has an opportunity this year to contend in the Lake , with Sandusky, Shelby , and Perkins, I believe will be the top 4 teams. Have shooting , some young size , senior leadership and a healthy Haraway.

I really like Steve Gray and he has done a fantastic job here at Norwalk but I still feel that we should not be playing any teams from the Firelands Conference. I agree that we should be in the top 4 teams in the Lake Division but we also have to play more top quality teams in d-1 and d-2 to help us to become ready for tournament play. D-4 teams isn't gonna do it. Maybe we could start a Christmas Tournament and just open it up to d-1's & 2's teams and maybe call it The North Coast Christmas Tourney. How does that sound to everybody.
