If JT Barrett IV plays OSU will need to run it 80+% of the time to win If Haskins plays OSU can run a normal offense and just destroy Wisconsin
JT Barrett IV plays and OSU calls 30 pass plays - Wisconsin 34-17 JT Barrett IV plays and OSU runs it 80+% of the time - OSU 24-17 Dwayne Haskins plays - OSU wins 38-17
Ball control is important if JT Barrett IV plays because when the coaches call passing plays with him it's lots of 3 and outs leaving the defense on the field They have to call lots of running plays with Barrett IV in so that OSU can pick up some first downs and letting the defense get some rest Haskins is a real QB so OSU can actually call passing plays and expect 1st downs to occur instead of 3 and outs. The defense loves Haskins

It’s amazing how Barrett, who isn’t a real QB according to Vogel, owns basically every record there is for Ohio State qb’s and even big ten qb’s. Crazy how all these real qb’s at all these other schools can’t get those records.

Funny how Weinstein thinks Barrett can pass. Every single NFL scouting expert agrees that JT Barrett can't throw the ball. When you can't throw it you stick around as a QB for 13 years at OSU. When you can throw it you head off to the NFL after your 3rd year instead of sticking around campus as a 13th year senior like JT Barrett IV.

But Barrett isn’t a real qb according to Vogel. How can a non real qb do that?

But Barrett isn’t a real qb according to Vogel. How can a non real qb do that? Weinstein why do you love your QB's to have noodle arms? Real QB's can throw it down field. Real QB's don't stick around starting for 4 years. Drew Brees was NOT a 4 year starter. Tom Brady was NOT a 4 year starter Peyton Manning was NOT a 4 year starter Congratulations to JT Barrett IV on being a 4 year starter playing alongside 4 & 5 star players vs 1 & 2 star players on Indiana, Maryland, etc and racking up the stats. I can't wait for JT Barrett IV to play in the NFL. He must be amazing at throwing the ball since he threw for more TD's and Yards than Manning, Brees and Brady. JTIV is super amazing, greatest QB ever at throwing the ball. lol JTIV will more likely be staring in one of our very own Weinstein's movies in 2018. Weinstein loves JTIV so you know its a sure thing.

Who cares if he’s a 4 year starter? Doesn’t take away anything from what he has done in college.

As I said in another thread, there’s always great college qb’s who aren’t great in the nfl. Jason White was a heisman winner at Oklahoma who didn’t even get drafted but that doesn’t take away from what he accomplished in college. So Vogel can keep saying about Barrett playing in the nfl all he wants but it has literally nothing to do with his college career.

I will add that some of the records are due to being a 4 year player, which is not a normal. OSU has probably only had a few QBs that have played 4 years. Maybe even only 2.

Still doesn’t take away from what he did in college. Why does it matter if he’s a 4 year starter? Had Braxton Miller not get hurt a week before the season started, Barrett would only be a 3 year starter.

JT Barrett is a 4 year starting, 5th year senior. Only poor passing QB's hang around that long. Winston went pro as a 2 year starting sophomore. He could throw. Barrett stuck around because the NFL doesn't want his noodle arm. He racks up all his numbers vs 1 & 2 star teams like Indiana, Maryland, etc then when he meets equal talent he throws for 50 yards.
Haskins is 10 times better than Barrett IV but Haskins can now only be a 3 year starter. If Haskins beats out Martell next year then Haskins will go Pro. JT's records will be safe for eternity at OSU because elite passers will not be sticking around for 20 years at OSU like Barrett IV did.
It's going to be a battle next year between Dwayne 'big game' Haskins Tate 'money' Martell
It's also hilarious how Barrett is being credited as being 4-0 vs Michigan when he couldn't finish 2 of the games because of injury. MLB pitchers wish they could be credited with a win like JT Barrett IV. Get rocked 6-0 in the 1st inning, take yourself out with an injury then get credited with the win when the relievers throw a no hitter the rest of the way.
Thank you Dwayne 'BIG GAME' Haskins for saving the day Saturday.

If you’re going to thank Haskins for saving the day on Saturday then you should also thank Barrett for saving the season the year Braxton went down with his injury.

Thank you Dwayne 'BIG GAME' Haskins for saving the day Saturday. Proves your lack of intellect to use Winston as an example. Winston's a serial rapist. He's one of the dregs of society. The ONLY reason he's not in jail today is due to his big arm. He's been charged with another sexual assault. Neither of which the NFL cares about. QB's in a run first offense system are never going to get drafted early or high. Remember, YOU are the guy who wants to RUN THE BALL 80% of the time. Unless you get Urban fired AND YOU no longer want to run the ball 80% of the time, Haskins isn't going to get to pass enough to get drafted high or soon. "10 times better" "stick around for 20 years" You can't make a post without 10 fold exagerations. FAKE STATS! Dumbo, this isn't baseball. If Tom Brady brings his team back from a 2 TD deficit and gets injured on a go ahead drive, that his nobody back up finishes with a score and the TEAM wins, who does the NFL credit the win to? The starting QB or the backup who played less than half the game? Dumbo, JT didn't get "rocked" in the "first inning". If not for the JT's 30 yard TD run and 25 yard TD pass Haskins would have had to over come a 21 point deficit to be a hero. JT took himself out?? Hell he almost single handily was driving his team down the field for a TD when he was knee popped out. Haskins wouldn't have had to make a ridiculous pass if he hadn't F'd up the previous 2 plays. Going from 3rd and 3 to 3rd and 13. Watch the pass from the side view, it was actually under thrown by a stride. He almost got Mack killed, as he had to slow down a bit to catch it, which let both DBs make a knuckle sandwich out of him.

Had Braxton Miller not get hurt a week before the season started, Barrett would only be a 3 year starter. I wasn't taking away from him only putting some things into perspective. Most OSU QBs don't get 4 years to total up numbers so the career records are a part of that. Plus, had Braxton not gotten hurt AND did not want an NFL career, JT may have only had 2 years. Of course had both of those happened Jones may not have left early. All ifs and maybes I know but if you are going to compare the history of all OSU QBs I feel it needs to be said that he was a 4 year QB, That's all.

I was just getting ready to add a post about Schiano. We can complain all we want about Barrett but at least we aren’t Tennessee. What a mess down there.

Then why in the hell wasn't it Cardale who started for 4 years? Haters hate JT for winning 90% of his games. The Dumbo's of this world think Ohio State should have gone undefeated the past 4 years and won 4 National Championships in a row. Now they hate him for being a starter for 4 years. Thus, HATE him for being the only 3 time captain in Ohio State football history. There have been many players since 1900 who've been 4 year starters, NONE have been a 3 year captain.
WHO in the hell is denying that JT is a 4 year starter?? Only haters are concerned with how many years a player is a starter.
Should Drew Brees be denied all of his Big Ten and school records since he was a 3 year starter instead of 2 years starter. As Dumbo says, great QBs go after 3 years instead of staying 4 years like Brees did.

I'm not trying to complain about JT, I just like what another QB can do. That does not mean I hate JT. If you were the Willard QB for 4 years and threw 20 TDs a year you could be the school record holder with 80 TD passes. Then say a guy Chuck Fryer plays for 2 seasons and throws for 37 in both years. I liked them both as Willard QBs but their time was different.

If someone starts for 4 years in high school then more power to him, still not seeing what the problem with that is? I believe Brennan Armstrong was a 4 year starter, just means they were studs as freshmen. Great for them!
Anyway, back to Ohio State vs. Wisconsin...

Don't assume there is a problem. I only pointed out that longevity can help with career records.

If the Bucks get off to another bad start it may be a long night in Indy. Conversely jumping on Wisconsin and forcing them to be pass first would result in a Buckeye win

Conversely jumping on Wisconsin and forcing them to be pass first would result in a Buckeye win If the defense plays like they did in the 1st quarter vs. Michigan, it will be a long day. Coach Schiano needs to address the importance of good basic fundamentals of tackling with his defense. Our tackling was atrocious early in that game, wrapping was non-existant and we were trying to knock down the ball handler,, instead of wrapping him up. Play after play was extended by our poor tackling. Replaying that quarter, I noticed we had far too many spectators. Line of pursuit should be in the minds of all eleven guys until the play is blown dead. We were getting beat on the perimeter, one good block, they were able to break contain.

Drew Brees did NOT redshirt Drew Brees was a 3 year starter Drew Brees only came back for his senior year to finish off his college degree. Drew Brees only attended Purdue for the academics in the 1st place. i.e. Craig Krenzel (Meanwhile JT graduated after his 4 years, Communication Degree (sounds tough), and came back for a 5th because the NFL didn't want him) Maybe Drew Brees should have redshirted to get a 5th year, and come back and throw for an extra 4,000 yards and 40 TDs. JT Barrett IV would still be chasing his numbers.
Barry Sanders only started 1 year in college. He had to wait behind Thurman Thomas. I guess Barry Sanders just isn't as good a RB like Mike Weber who was able to start as a Redshirt Freshman. Mike Weber's career stats will put you to shame Barry Sanders. All hail Mike Weber, and don't you dare say Weber isn't the greatest RB because his career college stats are better than Barry Sanders.
What do NFL scouts say about JT Barrett IV's arm? Great passer? Good passer? Hmmm. Why do someone of these Barrett IV butt kissers want the rest of the world to pretend Barrett IV is a good passer when he's not?

All that matters to me is his college career. NFL is a whole different story. I believe there's 120 DI football teams, so that means 120 QB starters, how many of them actually pan out in the NFL? Less than 10? And please show where I ever said he's a good passer? College career vs. NFL career are two separate things. And once again, back to OSU vs Wisconsin...

I totally agree, NFL viability is an irrelevant measure of a players impact at the collegiate level. The NFL is purely looking at specifics as it suits their needs. Lot of great college football players never play at the next level, does that diminish their accomplishments or impact here and now? No. Reverse the logic....there are enough crappy QB's on NFL rosters to fill a room and they would be hard pressed to earn a starting slot on any number of FBS schools.
