NOT "forcing". No one ever said anything about "forcing". No one is "forcing" a player to take a week off. Players have the option to take a week of before stating basketball. The only "forcing" involved, is coaches can not "force" football players to start basketball practice the week after their last game.
As said above, this is the same between fall and winter and winter and spring sports.

Sandusky looked solid vs Ashland, they started 3 sophmores & led wire to wire. Interested to watch them develop as the year goes on.

If it is a state rule.

^^^This is not an OHSAA rule. It was quite a while ago but not anymore. Most schools still allow athletes to take a week off though.

Thanks GT: Like I said that I did not have a rules book anymore so I did not know that the rule change but when my oldest was playing 5 to 6 years ago they did have a rule stating the a player was allowed to take a week off between sports. It was made to give players sometime to heal, rest up before they start their next sport and coaches could not stop them from doing that. So please anybody who has questions about that see your High School Coach or Athletic Director on that, you ok with that dude, not to disrespect you at all on this old friend.

I actually asked a long time football coach about this and his understanding was it was never an official rule in the book, it was more of an understanding that schools adopted and coaches accepted. If kids needed a little time(primarily had football in mind) they would take the week after the last game off before beginning their new sport practice. Of course he also pointed out that many years ago fewer teams made the playoffs so it affected very few.

I’m a few miles and time zones away. If someone can track down a b-ball score for Shelby can you post it, please? Been gone a week. This is their first game, right?

Are Willard and Shelby kids still doing the walk tradition? (walking to the other town for the game)

I believe the Shelby kids still walk, or they have as recently as the last couple years. I walked back in the day. It's a nice tradition, although we often caught the 'L' against Willard during my high school stretch. I don't remember the Willard students walking to Shelby though.

Thanks Dude, I wished that I would have kept that rules book cause I could of swore that it was in there. I could of asked John Livengood about it when I saw him at Wally World today but I forgot, or my brain wasn't working again today. O' well I think we got this one settled without any casualties today.

I don't know the final, but Perkins beat Clyde in double overtime. Perkins led, 35-15, at halftime and won at the buzzer in double overtime after Rieman put Clyde up in the final seconds?

Norwalk beats Tiffin 51-50. Norwalk made 2 FTs with 7 seconds left to take the lead. Tiffin scored at the buzzer, but it was waved off.

Thanks. Did Carter Brooks play and did he contribute? Any scoring breakdown? Carter Brooks did play and did contribute. He ended with 6pts, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. He may still have a little football mentality as he had 4 fouls and spent a good amount of time on the bench. Hunter Hoffman led the way with 24 and 8. Schwemley went for 14, 5, and 5. Hill had 13 with 7 assists. Everyone had a chance to contribute tonight. They moved the ball really well and the big lead gave the entire varsity line up plenty of playing time. Tonight's game against Upper should be little more competitive.

Not true because I have passed them walking through Celeryville and through the muck over the years. My senior class was the first one to do it and we left from the old Pamida parking lot.
