Death from above: I totally agree with you about emailing bakc and forth and that's why I said I didn't disagree with the teacher being punished. I just was annoyed at the fact the person starting this whole thing did not have facts straight as do a lot of people on these threads. They start threads with rumors that have been passed around with stories changing who knows how many times without a whole lot of facts which is why I decided to step in and bring some facts to attention that no one esle seemed to be able to do. No they should not have emailed about the student. But please there isn't multiple teachers all bullying the same child. There is one common denominator in all the situations that he has been in and that is him so that should clearly show who the problem is My apology willardfan. The way I read it that it sounded like that you was almost accusing an awful lot of us. But now I see that you were not doing that. Sometimes I think that technology is a lot of the problems we have today but I guess where would we be without it. Kids have cell phones and laptops and can communicate any and every time something is going on with someone and within seconds it is all over school to where in my days it was almost the whole day before everybody knew what happen. I also see the good in it like your kid missed his ride and needs to call home but that should be the only reason that should be used. In my days we had what was called pay phones and if you didn't have any money you could always reverse the charges. Someone better explain to dump what a pay phone was since he's a young man still in school. Anyway back to the subject. I agree also with you willardfan that we should get our facts straight and that includes the reporters in the news business before reporting something even on here. And Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Well first off all maybe some of you should get your story straight! He didn't just email this SC teacher out of no where. He got an email form a teacher at SC asking what he knew about the kid and such. Had a lot of positives to say about the kid because there is a lot of positives to say about him athletically. But he has a lot of maturing still to do. Now I know it's a middle school child and all middle schoolers need to mature still but this one was as bad as they come and did not jsut have problems with this one teacher! Every faculty member/coach he came in contact too he had issues with. I have seen kindergarteners respect adults and behave better than this kid.O The issue you have with this statement is that it is documented via e-mail and that cannot be considered a rumor if it is documented, and it is. The Willard teacher did in fact make first contact with the SC teacher and stated he heard the student was heading to SC. After the SC teacher received the e-mail from the Willard teacher, the SC teacher said he is getting a new student on Monday but wasn't sure of his name. The SC teacher did ask the Willard teacher what's the scouting report on him if it was in fact this student, after he received the first e-mail from the Willard teacher. That is when the Willard teacher went on a rant. So, you are the one misinformed.

If you would have notice a lot of us on here do not even live in Willard or get the Willard Times, which is worse than the Norwalk Rejecter or I should of said Reflector, so anyway we are stating on here by what moneyball has written about. Either way on what has happen the two teachers should not have been corresponding on e-mail about a student. If a teacher has any concerns about the child he/she should have gone to the principle's or administrator's office and have them talk with Willard's people to fine out more about this student. There are no rumors, it was read at the school board meeting by the parent. The Willard teacher made first contact with the SC teacher. willardfan1, you are the one that doesn't have your facts straight. It is on public record because the parent went to the school board and spoke, that means it is not a rumor it is fact because the parent has the e-mail stream that went to SC, started by the Willard teacher.

Willardfan........Be careful, I personally know this family and my facts are documented truth. Willard teacher started this entire thing! These parents were quietly moving their child and giving him a new start. The same Willard teacher came into the parents work to question her about a few issues and ended with concerns about her son and the teacher even mentioned his own reputation?? Then the email was sent. This is a good kid that of course has issues just like EVERY other kid his age...remember he was 12yrs old, not an adult! This teacher violated this kids confidentiality without his parents/administrations consent which is Conduct Unbecoming. He violated Profedional Relationship with a Student, he violated the technology usage policy, I could go on and on. This kid has played on MANY sports teams outside of Willard and has never been told he was un-coachable?? He's been in his new school for 2 1/2 months now. Not one issue of bullying or being disrespectful. This kid spoke his mind and because of this he didn't fit inside the Willard School's Box, so he was labeled a bad kid and treated with disrespect. Willard holds their students accountable for their actions, but NOT their staff, this is the real issue!!

The teacher went to her employment and the discussion was about the student, yes! She was not aware of the email at that time.

This may have been mentioned so my apologies if I missed it but is the teacher a coach or advisor? Just curious.

It sure sounds like this teacher has over stepped his position multiple times and in different ways. Without knowing the teacher directly I wonder if they should be in a position of mentoring kids based on some of these events.

I sure hope that the school administrators take this situation serious but it is unlikely, they are known for turning a blind eye to the obvious. I'm sure he got a slap on the wrist and told to be a good boy going forward. If I had documentation in the form of an e-mail that looked to destroy my son or daughter's reputation like this parent has, that teacher would have some answering to do not only to his boss, but in a court of law.

Why can't a teacher warn someone they know about a bad kid coming their way?

I suppose most are more upset in which the manner it was done. I'm guessing the teacher wished he'd just called someone from SC or better yet met them for a coffee or beer and gave his 2 cents worth that way.
I in no way disregard the whole bulling movement. In this time of social media, which wasn't even dreamed of when I went to school,I'm sure bulling is a bigger problem now than in my day. However it does bother me when a teacher/coach is given the bully label because he is stern or raises his voice with a poor little student. In my day Bob Haas would get out a board and wack your *** and he was revered not a bully.

CLB, My dad did to, and sometimes he even brought home his board of education, that's what my brothers and sisters and I called his wooden paddle, and used it on us. But now with parents being so suit happy they dare not raise their hands on the kids. I think kids behaved more in school because of the fear at a young age of that paddle. I know when dad brought it home we where mighty afraid of it.

Why can't a teacher warn someone they know about a bad kid coming their way? Because it is against the code of conduct. He is not permitted to volunteer and reach out to another incoming school with personal and confidential information on a student. It would be like someone opening his file and sharing the mutitude of issues or complaints that have come against him but none are documented with this entire community. This guy has violated the code of conduct in some form or fashion every time you turn around yet he never really gets disciplined. The parents of this kid should help him understand this attitude and behavior will no longer be tolerated. Saying a kid should be disciplined and this is what comes out of this stream, people need to see that this teacher is the root of this problem, not the kid.

Why can't a teacher warn someone they know about a bad kid coming their way? Why can't a teacher do it the proper way and follow the rules and process that is in place. If they do not would you not call them a bad teacher?

Looks like this teacher/coach dodged another one and will live to do it again down the road. I hope the next kid he does this to, and he will, has parents that fight for real justice and accountability. I applaud the School Board and Administration for their efforts in this one and for holding this teacher accountable for his actions, again and again and again. Yes, that last sentence was one dusted with sarcasm.

If you can't hold your teachers accountable for an obvious violation like this, that at least deserves a suspension, you'll never fess up to a teacher being accused of bullying. The saying goes "if you plug your ears and close your eyes you can't see or hear what is really happening right in front of your face." It is a fact, some of these administrators are close to retirement and they are riding out the storm to the promise land. They deserve all the harsh criticism and negative publicity they get. The funny thing is any time you hear parents talk about issues with teachers, 90% of the time there are two middle school male teachers that are always mentioned, every time. They are buds so misery loves company. The school board and the administrators know exactly who I'm talking about.

teachers have zero reason to email another school about a transfer student.. leave that to the adminstration... Well, Ryan did it and was told that wasn’t very nice and please don’t do it again. Had that been one of my sons, he definitely wouldn’t be coaching and would be lucky if he kept his teaching license. He thinks he is untouchable and i see why, no one considers this stuff serious so he keeps doing it. He better wake up and if he had any integrity at all he would apologize to the school, parenst and community.

Just to play devil's advocate for a second. If a "problem" student in your district is moving or transferring someplace else do you have any responsibility to warn them of potential problems? I can see the point about "destroying the kid's rep" before he gets there. But what about the kids and faculty at SC? Don't they deserve a heads up? Oh God, no. A single teacher at one school e-mailing another school's staff (or even just one teacher) is a river you don't approach, much less cross. If the receiver school wants to request official discipline documentation on a student from his or her former school, that's one thing, even though I'm not sure that's even kosher without the new school running into its own issues first. If true, such an email REEKS of desperation, is totally subjective to the teacher and therefore can't really be trusted (again, as opposed to official discipline documentation, if any exists on this student), and is totally mean-spirited and unnecessary. As for warning the students and faculty at SC, unless this student is a violent juvenile offender, I can't imagine a scenario where that isn't ridiculous overreaction. Like any other school, SC has its own policies and procedures dealing with student discipline. If warranted by the behavior of the new student, the district will implement them when they necessary, not before. A new school already on high alert over a new student before they arrive is destined to kill any chance of a successful relationship between student and school.

Worst yet, he put it in writing and the parent and board of education has a copy. It was of malicious intent, there was nothing about giving the incoming school a heads up, it was right out dirty for him to do it.

I'm curious to know what this teacher coaches? MS Football Because of course he does. Sometimes these coach/teachers can be worse than the adolescents they're supposed to be modeling adult behavior for.
