(Might as well start a new thread for the coming year)
Reading into Tate Martell's recent comments that he will be open to a position change to get on the field next season for the Buckeyes, my thoughts. If Paris Campbell decides to declare for the draft, expect Tate to compete with K.J. Hill for the H-B slot. I'm sure there are other candidates that presently slip my mind. I'm thinking he could bring a new look to the position, with his quick thinking, creative abilities and the ability to pull up and throw the ball, besides his obvious scrambling talents.

Does that make Haskins the clear favorite for the starting QB?

The last time a QB at Ohio State said he'd change positions for playing time it set up him transferring. And Martell is A LOT shorter and slower than the last guy. ESPN says Martell's 40 time is 4.72, Parris Campbell ran an electonic 4.41 at The Opening.

Wes Welker ran a 4.65 40 at the combine. I think that is a better comp for Tate Martell's body type than (LOL) Torrance Gibson.
But I agree it, and sportsjock was the first to allude to it, looks like a transfer is in the cards for Martell. Too bad. His HS Football highlight video was on par with Braxton's.

LOLOLOLOL......comparing Tate Martel to Wes Welker and he hasn't caught his first pass in college football and most likely didn't catch any in high school either. Welker on the other had was probably catching passes since he played biddy ball. The new record for the worst analogy in NCoast history. You are stooping to a new low OR your hate is out of control. THEN you want to compare Tate's running to Braxton's??? AGAIN you aren't reading, THE comparison was made based on what happened to the last redshirt Freshman QB at Ohio State that asked to play WR for playing time. Which ALSO would agree with sportsjock

Another piece of the puzzle is in place for 2018 with Paris Campbell's decision to return to the Buckeyes. He may have a battle with Jaelen Gill.

I don't think we've seen the best of Paris Campbell yet and Jaelen in the mix, is going to make for some exciting spring football. Expect Jeremy Ruckert to make his presence known in a big way, from the very start and the outstanding class of WR's is going to make an immediate impact on offense.

Hard to see the best of a WR when you don't throw the ball down filed. I agree, this year we may with different play calling.

We witnessed K.J. Hill emerge from the group of young receivers. Think he may be our go to guy this coming season.
What a great group of recruits coming in at the receiver position. Kameron Babb, Cameron Brown and the guy that most intrigues me is L'Christian Smith...a rangy and talented wide-out. I can envision 6'6" Smith and 6'6" TE Jeremy Ruckert presenting interesting situations for opposing defenses when operating from a short field and condensed formations. Although we don't have a FB on the roster and probably never will, I'd love to see one of our BIG TE's, DL or LB's prepped to enter the backfield in goal-line, double TE formations, when that tough yard or two is needed.

Anyone else still somewhat sour on Parris Campbell because of what he did to Bellevue in the Championship Game?

You misspelled Parris.

With the return of Terry McLaurin, Johnny Dixon and Paris Campbell, we have the strongest group of receiving talent in the history of the program. K.J. Hill established himself as the go to guy as this past season progressed I've never seen a such a collection of tall, rangy receivers as we will have to start the 2018 season. Jaylen Harris 6-5 Michael Hartway 6-3 Garyn Prater 6-5 Austin Mack 6-2 Elijah Gardner 6-4 L'Christian Smith 6-6

Harbaugh's current highest rated commitment in his 2018 class would be the 15th highest rated player in Ohio State's class. AND Harbaugh promised a player he was still recruiting for the 2018 class, that he would be a changed man next year. Ya right.

Doubt smith will get meaningful snaps this year. He might tho. Walk on Saunders looked like nice when he played. If any of the 3 freshman WR play id be surprised. I’m looking forward to 5 star Jeremy Ruckert. Best Tight End i’ve seen in a long long time.

Yeah I agree with 4, I don’t see any of the incoming freshmen WR getting significant playing time with all the WR we have coming back. Just too many players ahead of them.
Ohio state also got a commitment yesterday from Tyler Friday, a DE who was long considered a Michigan lean. Still sucks to lose Cox to Georgia but they’ve made up for it pretty well with tyreke smith and Friday, and then in addition to Jackson, Vincent, and Togiai. That’s a pretty good Dline haul.
Also agree with 4 on Ruckert, he probably won’t start with Berry and Haussmann ahead of him but I still think he sees some snaps, he’s going to be a stud.

I'm not sure that Glenn was better than Chris Carter. Faster, but not better. Joey Galloway was up there too.

berry can’t stretch the field like ruckert can. i could see him jumping over them and starting as a freshman. but then again as long as he sees the field i’m happy with. i also would like to see Gill get on the field. I haven’t seen a better h back come through osu at his age. but freshman don’t play a lot at osu unless you’re jk dobbins or special teams.
