Archie Griffin has a new home down here in Lakewood Ranch, an upscale planned community just east of Sarasota/Bradenton. His annual charity event 'The Archie Griffin Charity Golf Tournament' is this weekend at the Concession Golf Club. Most of the Ohio State Coaches, past and present and a lot of Ohio State notables and players will be on hand again for this big event. Last year they raised $690,000.00 for the Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota. The big positive for Ohio State is it's close proximity to IMG Academy and the large Ohio State presence plays a prominent role in our recruiting successes in this area and region.
In a feature story and extensive interview with Archie Griffin in the local papers, he was asked about expanding the playoffs, in which he was in favor of expanding the field to eight. He pointed out UCF's claim to the National Championship was certainly a legitimate one. He was also asked if his two time Heisman record would ever be broken, to which he replied; "I expect it to be broken. I tell people every day when folks ask me, somebody is going to break that record, Some body will get two, maybe someone will get three because now, they're starting to award it to younger players." Another question that stood out. How did you avoid the distractions and focus on your senior season to win the second Heisman? "It weighed heavy on my mind for a while and it wasn't untl I read a verse in the Book of Psalm 3; 4-6, "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." and what that told me was my job was not going out and winning football games. My job was to serve the Lord and if it was meant tdo be, He was going to give it to me. If it wasn't, he was going to make it all right."

Haskins seems to be favorite, urban says there head and head very close. Seems to be 2 QB race now, Martell will have special packages to get him on the field. Just not sure if it’ll be enough to keep him from transferring. To talented to sit.

Burrow was Ohio states best QB today, Martell struggled throwing it. Looked dangerous as any qb I’ve seen running it. He would excel at h back but I know he’ll transfer if Osu tries that. Burrow impressive as well as McCall. Baron browning and Shaun wade looked good, master Teague is going to be good down the road. Glad Osu got this game in and didn’t cancel like ttun.

After the game Urban mentioned how much Burrow's arm strength and release quickness has improved over the past 2 years. Also mentioned his leadership, toughness and intelligence.
Does that mean he's favoring Burrow OR Haskins is his guy and Urban is building a resume for Burrow's transfer?
I'd be a very nervous with Martel being the backup next year.

I wouldn’t, Martell is going to get better passing the ball. And he’s already a better runner then any other qb on roster or to be honest probably in the country. And he’s still yet to play a snap for Osu. He will be just fine if he stays.

Of the 3 is there a sure bet any would stay if they were told he was the third QB? Do we get the most out of Weber, Dobbins and potentially Teague if we go with Martell?

It's just a spring (yea right spring my little rear end) game. Now let me hear it. My son gave me a lot of mouth about it. To me it was the right decision, it's not worth a life or more.

It never bothered u that Barrett couldn't throw the ball. VERY poor analogy. Read carefully instead of being blinded by your disdain. My nervousness concerns who will be the back up THIS year, if Haskins or Burrows transfers. I'm not "bothered" by who the starter will be next year. YOU are talking about a starter, not me. Last year I was't nervous about who the back up QB was. AGAIN, I'm taking about the back up QB, NOT a starter. I DARE you to give us a post of mine that said, "It doesn't bother me that Barrett can't throw." If a QB is rated as #8 in the country, completed 64.7% of his passes for 3053 yards, with 35 TDs and 9 INTs. Do those FACTS indicate he "can't throw the ball"? Give it up, JT is gone, yet you're whine continues.

Burrow has given very strong indications, through his recent remarks, sitting on the bench as a backup will be an unacceptable situation for him this coming season. Not much compromise there. Martel is a significant drop-off from Haskins & Burrows, who enter with sufficient experience and leadership. Urban and his staff will experience some anxieties, trying to figure an amiable solution to keep all three happy and in the fold.

What are the odds of Haskins transfering if he doesn't get the starting job?
Would starting Burrow be the most likely way to keep all 3 QBs on the roster?

Burrow was the clear winner coming out of the spring game. Haskins has already proven his worth in game conditions of last season. In the event of injury, it would be a smooth and predictable transition for either of these replacements. The same cannot be said of Martel. His insertion completely changes the make-up and personality of the offense and not necessarily in all ways beneficial.

The problem with Haskins transferring he would lose a year of eligibility unless he could get some sort of waver Why would that happen? Why would what happen? He redshirted his freshman year. You can’t redshirt again. It’s the NCAA they do things that are odd all the time like waivers

Joe Burrow is transferring He did a good job to try and make it a contest for the starting job but Haskins was arguably the best passing QB on staff last season and with the run game we have could have been the starter then.

Best passer?? Haskins has a big arm, but has a lot to learn to be an overall better QB than Burrow.

then why is Burrows the one transferring? don't tell me you don't trust Urban to make the right decision as to who to start at QB?

His insertion completely changes the make-up and personality of the offense and not necessarily in all ways beneficial. I'm surprised Urban wasn't able to appease the situration and influence Burrow to stick it out. Haskins gets injured, we might be in trouble offensively. I wish Joe the very best and hope he finds the ideal situation, where he can play at a high level for the next two seasons.
