The drawing is not too far off on Feb. 11. Currently, 10 of the 14 teams in the district have winning records, led by Vermilion at 9-1. Let's get the party started. This district is wide open with a lot of very good but not great teams. Some big games will take place before seeding meeting, and will go a long way in determining seeds.

right now I would have the top 4 seeds as follows: 1. Vermillion 2. Mansfield Sr. 3. Lexington 4. Shelby
Lexington and Shelby could be flipped. Sandusky is a player also. District is very balanced with Perkins and Clyde playing well.

Eight of the 14 teams in the district could win it imo. Vermilion plays a weak schedule at 9-1 I doubt they will be 1 seed come tournament time. But there will be some great matchups. Possibly a Clyde/Lex rematch. An Ontario/Shelby game would be fun to see. Wouldn't be surprised to see the 8th seed win the district!

What's the setup for a 14 team district? Do the top 2 teams get byes?

They might be given the option of taking a bye, or playing a low seeded team.

I have seen mid season maxpreps reports that have teams with 4-2 records in week 12. It is not very reliable unless everyone has all their information updated.
They currently have Vermilion at 11-2 and Wauseon at 2-0.

Just going to make for some real interesting seeding in D2... Comparing Vermillion to likes of Mansfield, Sandusky, etc...

No, it just points out that this is a very status quo season in the area (especially in D3). No great teams in D2, D3, and D4. Much parity and balance, and some solid teams, but no D3 team that appears legit (Oak Harbor has only 1 D2 win). It will be a wide open district tournament in D2 and D3 and it should be fun. Think there is a team to the south that would say they are legit in d3..😎😎.

Probably to the east and west too, but definitely none in this area.

In non-conference play, Vermilion beat D2 Hawken (63-50), beat D1 North Ridgeville (50-36), and lost to D1 Lorain (49-48) and D1 Elyria (65-63), both on last second buzzer beaters.
Coming up they play Firelands, Perkins, Elyria Catholic, Bay, Clearview, and Sandusky. All are D2 schools except for EC (a strong D3 program that plays almost all larger schools). In other words, they have pretty clearly scheduled "up" beyond the Bay teams on their schedule this year. It's now backloaded because the Bay and Sandusky games were both postponed due to weather.

Probably to the east and west too, but definitely none in this area. Haha. Good one. Well if your talking out of district yes then you are correct. To the east does not have any impact to this area. To the west only comes into play come regional final time. To the south how ever has large implications for that is whoever wins the D3 District winner will face. Now if you are being faciious like I think there is a team to the east with a western name with reserves about these Bay teams being very good. And a team to the south that would tell you they are tickled shitless about sticking up with moving down. See what I did there bwahhha!!!😎😎

Can you really compare the schedule of Vermilion and Mansfield or Sandusky? What's your point here? That because in your opinion two teams with worse records had marginally tougher schedules that they should jump over Vermillion? I was under the impression that's why they play at neutral sites. Eventually it's all determined on the court anyway. But I suppose for an OCC apologist such as yourself that's just not good enough.

Are you some kind of conspiracy seeker? Do you really think they have marginally different schedules? So would you say Clear Fork is a possible top seed since they have a good record, or does they schedule make a difference?

No, you're trying to pump up Mansfield Sr. Be honest about it. Good gravy, they essentially get to play home games at Madison. I think they'll be fine.

Honestly I'm asking if someone really thinks Vermilion's schedule is comparable to Mansfield's. I don't care if Mansfield gets seeded 5th behind 4 SBC teams.

Currently 11 of the 14 teams in the district have winning records.
As of Jan 29 by record %
1. Vermilion 11-2 2. Clear Fork 12-3 3. Lexington 12-4 4. Sandusky 10-4 5T. Clyde 9-5 5T. Mansfield Sr 9-5 7. Ontario 8-5 8. Shelby 8-6 9. Perkins 9-7 10. Bellevue 7-6 11. Norwalk 8-7 12. Galion 6-10 13. Columbian 2-12 14. Pt Clinton 1-13
Any of the top 11 can advance to district.

If asking a question means you care, why do you care? More often then not your questions are no more than snide remarks.
