If anyone could help me out it would be great. Working full time is always a must in life but everyone always has that one thing they want to do, i’ve always wanted to right sports for a site of some sort. i know you would start out with little or no pay, and work your way to the top. but that isn’t a problem, cause if it’s something you’re big on you don’t really care about that. i’m looking for opportunities to keep stats or write articles for a site of some sort. can be central ohio sports, Reds, Indians, Cavs, Browns, Ohio state any thing of those sorts. i know there’s opportunity out there i’ve just have not found it yet. There’s smaller sites always looking for volunteer writers and such. Even covering high school football baseball or basketball. (would have to be in central ohio) But if anyone has any leads or anything of any sort i would appreciate it. Thought this would be a good place to ask, could message me or comment. Thanks!

i know some places will want a background in journalism or something along those lines. But also know that some will let you prove your skills in it, just looking for what’s out there.

Why not start your own blog? You could take pictures of the events and share them on social media with links to your blog. You’re probably talking about a freelance type job, so having a body of work to reference is the first step.

Have you talked with local newspapers? I would say the Marion Star is in dire need of someone to cover sports for them.

I think you must understand, journalism of any kind, still relies heavily on basic knowledge of sentence structure and all the boring elements of english that we had to endure in high school and beyond. You have your favorite teams, but if you are sincere in your desire to pursue a career as a sports writer, adaptability and objectivity is a must. If your goals take root, your journey may force you to embrace and adapt to schools and teams far removed from those that are now dear to your heart. Developing flexibility is also important, as you may be forced to report on sports you presently have little interest or knowledge of at this point in your life. I wish you well, in your sincere career endeavor.

100% right sportsjock, i have a friend from ohio and was a reds fan. he now covers the Arizona Diamondbacks, it’s all about where you fit in. but to start you try to start locally as you can with what you know while you’re building and learning, as you will never stop learning. but you will be more expierenced before you move on to covering teams in other areas. just something i’m interested in doing part time, kind of as a hobby. maybe one day i could make it real life, who knows.

4, you might want to also try your local radio and television stations, that is if your frighten of people hearing you on the air. I know some people who are good reporters for a newspaper but are scared to death of that mike. Now with me it would be the other way around, I can talk and talk and talk and am comfortable with it, must be that country boy in me, but when it comes to writing forget it. I am more alright around you guys and gals but I just can't do it for a newspaper. Kind of makes you guys special that I can write to y'all. ROFL. Good luck 4.

If you want to move forward I would get off tumblr and use a different blogging site, like wordpress or weebly to name a couple. Tumblr isn't as credible.

moacmama i thought the same thing, which i am going to go to wordpress. just wanted something to start rn, but as wallpass said i talked to the guy from marion who works for elevenwarriors. he started on tumblr, it’s a good place to keep all of your blogs in one place. he was hired straight in to eleven warriors from his work on tumblr

Sports, I notice after I got on last night that my helmet was gone. Went to avatar to get back on but it, along with other stuff was not there anymore. I wonder what happen to all of it? Anyway I started to mess around on it last night and found out on how to make my own so that is how this one came about. You like it, first as background I chose the grave yard because it reminded me as a kid we used to play ghost in the grave yard at the cemetery at night. secondly I choose the maroon beret for my 82nd. airborne days. third, I am old now so I made myself as an old man with white hair, droopy jaws and always looking mean never smiling. Hoping I don't lose this one now.
