It is official. The Panthers have named Chris Ceccoli as their next head basketball coach this morning.

That's a really good hire. If St Paul's was smart, they would've made that move years ago when they had the chance.

Chris is an excellent basketball coach. He knows the game and how to fit his players into a system. What he is even better at is molding boys into men. He is a leader by example. St. Mary's is very fortunate to get him. He coached my son in the past, and he absolutely loved him. Chris gets kids to work hard, while being positive and uplifting.

The majority of folks at SP wanted him coaching in the program. Another opportunity missed!

Hearing his staff he is bringing with him will be underwhelming at best

Hearing his staff he is bringing with him will be underwhelming at best So, can't always believe everything you hear. The coach is the leader and if the staff is good they will carry out the message. This team is loaded and I can see them winning 16-17 games this year and making a deep run in the tourney. They were strapped last year because the transfer kids could not play the last part of the season or the tourney. Perkins must have really had a mess on their hands for this many kids to transfer out.

It’s this year that they miss the end/tournament

Why did the kids move from perkins? Perkins coach struggles with building relationships with players and many of them have left or quit for various reasons. I know Roesch's older brother did not like playing for Perkins coach so he went to St. Marys. I am sure the other two that went are good friends with Roesch as well. The two that went to St. Marys from Sandusky allowed them more opportunity for playing time.
