Yesterday, Shelby beat 10 teams to win the Crestline Invite with 48 points. They were lead by Caleb Brown, who placed 5th with 17:28, followed by Moore (17:34), Logan (17:41), Swagner (17:58) and Lee (18:15).
Two of the lead guys for Shelby, Friebel and Green, did not run. Hopefully they are both healthy and will be ready for NOLs next Saturday, as they will play a huge factor into who wins the league title.

Friebel was in his uniform at the starting line yesterday, then pulled out. Hope he's ok.

Yesterday, Willard placed 2nd out of 10 teams in the D3 race at the Medina Festival. They were lead by Blake Smith, who placed 7th with 17:33, followed by Gahring (17:47), Risser (18:11), Gillmor (18:13) and Cofer (18:26). Both Willard and Western Reserve Academy scored 73 points, but Willard's sixth man Prescott Lillo (18:30) was 15 seconds ahead of Western's sixth man, winning the tiebreaker.
Shelby nearly swept the Mansfield Cat Pack Invite yesterday, beating the other five teams there and claiming the 2nd through 9th place spots, only trailing Lucas's Gavin Shindeldecker, who won the race. I'm not sure how long the course is, but Shelby's top five runners (Logan, Brown, Lucius, Swagner, Payne) all ran in the 14s. Neither Friebel or Green ran this race, making it the second invite they've both missed.
At the Fostoria Booster Invite, Columbian placed 4th out of 14 teams in the red race, while Sandusky only had four boys run. Columbian was lead by Jacob Anderson, who placed 2nd with 16:16, followed by Schreiner (17:23), Fanning (17:52), Shedrick (18:35) and Marquis (18:36). Sandusky was lead by Malci Rhodes, who placed 49th with 18:46, followed by Calderon (19:13), Colaizzi (19:21) and Risner (24:50).
With these being the final races before the NOL meet on October 15th, I'm sticking with my pre-season pick of Norwalk to win it. I was tempted to change my vote to Shelby, though them possibly missing Friebel or Green would be too much to overcome. Columbian has improved, but still lacks the depth needed to compete with Norwalk and Shelby. My final prediction is Norwalk, Shelby, Columbian, Willard, Bellevue, Ontario, Sandusky.
Good luck to all at NOLs next weekend!

I agree with your predictions austin. Shelby and Norwalk will make it a good race - both teams have a lot of depth, though I think Norwalk has a slight edge. I hope Friebel and Green are able to compete - you hate not having the best runners compete - especially in a high stakes competition.
Right now the weather forecast looks ideal - 60's and no rain at race time. Hopefully that remains.
I think the girls' race could be interesting as well. Obviously, I look for Bellevue to win it - but I think spots 2, 3, and 4 could be up for grabs. Norwalk girls hopefully will surprise some people - they've come on strong these last couple of weeks - only having 8 runners total - due to injuries. If they are healthy - I look for them to earn their highest placing in many years.

Ontario boys and girls both win NOL Junior High Titles. But the boys will lose their top runner to Soccer in high school. The best boys soccer player to come a long in many years. He did both, often on the same day, in the 7th and 8th grade. He also is a loss to Ontario's football program. Would make a heck of a RB or QB.

Congrats to Norwalk on winning the final NOL XC title! The truckers won their first league title back in 1968, which was the first year the NOL held a league championship meet, followed by championships in 1973, 2011, 2012 and 2015.
Norwalk finished with 36 points, followed by Shelby (42), Columbian (75), Willard (102), Bellevue (128), Ontario (142) and Sandusky (no team)... Called it 😉 Top 21 runners are as follows:
1. Jacob Anderson (Columbian)- 16:05 2. Ethan Bores (Norwalk)- 16:56 3. Julian Go (Norwalk)- 17:01 4. Tanner Schreiner (Columbian)- 17:01 5. Caleb Brown (Shelby)- 17:10 6. Sam Logan (Shelby)- 17:10 7. Christopher Mohr (Norwalk)- 17:12 8. Landon Woodard (Bellevue)- 17:13 9. Tyler Green (Shelby)- 17:20 10. Alex Moore (Shelby)- 17:24 11. Robert Vazquez (Norwalk)- 17:28 12. Blake Lucius (Shelby)- 17:33 13. Owen Lottman (Norwalk)- 17:36 14. Clay Gahring (Willard)- 17:40 15. Sam Swanger (Shelby)- 17:45 16. Dylan Hunter (Ontario)- 17:48 17. Garrett Risser (Willard)- 17:50 18. Blake Smith (Willard)- 17:52 19. Zach Cleveland (Bellevue)- (17:54) 20. Corbin Osborne (Shelby)- 18:04 21. Danny Friebel (Shelby)- 18:05
Anderson secured the individual title easily, as expected. Shelby and Norwalk's depth really showed today, as they had 10 and 8 runners in the top 25, respectively. Very impressive! It was unfortunate for Shelby that Friebel was not fully healthy today, as it could've been a much different race had he been.
Also, congratulations to Bellevue girls for winning their sixth straight NOL title, and their 13th overall. I regret not making a thread for NOL girls results this season and might do so next season.
Next week's schedule is as follows:
Oct 22- Bellevue, Norwalk, Ontario, Sandusky, Shelby and Willard at Galion District Oct 22- Columbian at Oregon District
Good luck to all teams as the post-season begins!

Thank you Austin for your work in keeping us up to date this season! It takes time to go to the different sources to gather times as you did this season! Hopefully we have quite a few NOL representatives in the post season. Fun to watch.
Is Anderson (from Tiffin) a sophomore or junior? I remember watching him set the middle school record a few years ago - but wasn't sure how long ago. He's impressive to watch - especially liked the way he came to cheer on some teammates when he finished today.

Congratulations to Norwalk boys - they placed third at the district meet in Galion today to advance to regionals next weekend.
Lexington placed first in the Division 2 race, followed by Edison, Norwalk, and Perkins. Great to see so many area schools do so well in this race!
Ethan Bores ran a personal best 16:43 followed by Julian Go with a personal best of 16:45.

Today, Columbian placed 12th out of 21 teams in the D1 district race at Owens Community College. Jacob Anderson was the only regional qualifier for the tornadoes, placing 4th with 16:31, followed by Schreiner (17:10), Fanning (18:11), Marquis (18:29) and Shedrick (19:30). Sandusky did not place but was led by Malci Rhodes (18:45), followed by Calderon (18:55), Colaizzi (19:06) and Risner (24:47).
In the D2 race at Amanns Park in Galion, Norwalk placed 3rd out of 11 teams and advanced to regionals. The truckers were led by Ethan Bores and Julian Go, who placed 10th and 11th to advance to regionals individually as well, followed by Vazquez (17:12), Lottman (17:20) and Berry (17:45). Shelby placed 5th at the meet and was led by individual regional qualifiers Caleb Brown (16:58) and Sam Logan (17:03), who placed 14th and 15th, followed by Swagner (17:40), Friebel (17:52) and Lucius (17:55). Bellevue placed 7th at the meet and was led by Landon Woodard, who placed 22nd with 17:32, followed by Cleveland (17:39), Seymour (18:37), Fuehring (18:45) and Pocock (19:03).
In the D3 district 2 race at Galion, Willard placed 4th out of 14 teams to advance to regionals. The flashes were led by Clay Gahring, who placed 13th with 17:39 to also advance to regionals individually, followed by Smith (18:00), Risser (18:01), Lillo (18:26) and Gillmor (18:32).
Weather was pretty cold today but still a lot of nice times. Willard's Emily Rothhaar, Shelby's Makenna Heimlich and Macy Lynch, and Columbian, Bellevue and Ontario's teams all qualified for regionals today as well.
Next week's schedule is as follows:
Oct 29- Columbian at D1 regional in Tiffin Oct 29- Norwalk and Shelby at D2 regional in Tiffin Oct 29- Willard at D3 regional in Tiffin
Good luck to all of our regional qualifiers at Hedges-Boyer!

Hopefully some people on here got some use out of them. Anderson is a junior this year. He is a great runner, I think he was undefeated against NOL teams this season. Hope he can punch his ticket to state next week!

Today in the D1 regional race at Tiffin, Columbian's Jacob Anderson placed 3rd with a 16:20, qualifying for state for the first time in his high school career. He is Columbian's first individual qualifier since Brandon Gibson won the region in 2013. Teammate Tanner Schreiner ended his high school running career with 17:41, placing 25th.
In the D2 race today at Tiffin, Norwalk placed 4th out of 12 teams to become the final team to qualify to the state meet. The truckers, who make their first state appearance since 1983, were lead by Christopher Mohr, who placed 19th with a 17:24 and missed qualifying for state individually by seven seconds. Mohr was followed by Vazquez (17:27), Go (17:39), Bores (17:48) and Dominguez (18:06). This order is very different than usual, as usually Go and Bores lead the pack, while I don't believe sophomore Jose Dominguez has cracked the top five for his team all season. Also in this race, the whippets ended their season as Shelby's Sam Logan placed 26th with 17:38, followed by Caleb Brown, who placed 33rd with 17:48.
In the D3 race today at Tiffin, Willard placed 18th out of 22 teams in their first year competing in D3. The flashes were lead by Blake Smith, who placed 73rd with 18:09, followed by Risser (18:35), Gahring (18:35), Lillo (18:41) and Gillmor (18:50).
Also congrats to Bellevue's girls team of Turner, Waldecker, Ish, Verhoff, Spurlock, Raifsnider and Santoro, as well as Shelby's Makenna Heimlich, for qualifying for state next week.
Times seemed to be pretty slow today for both boys and girls, even though I believe the weather was decent. It could just be me comparing these times to the quick Galion times last week though- It's always hard to compare times from week to week with courses as different as Galion and Tiffin are.
Next week's schedule is as follows:
Nov 5- Columbian's Anderson at Hebron D1 state meet Nov 5- Norwalk at Hebron D2 state meet
Good luck to the remaining NOL runners at state next week!

Today at the state meet in Hebron, Norwalk placed 15th out of 20 teams in the D2 race with 350 points. The truckers were led by Ethan Bores, who placed 90th with 17:00, followed by Mohr (17:06), Vazquez (17:07), Go (17:21) and Lottman (17:26). The placing marks Norwalk's third highest finish at state ever, following 6th place in 1973's AA race and 5th place in the 1983's AA race. This was the final race for Ethan Bores and Cole Berry, who are both seniors this year.
In the D1 race, Columbian's Jacob Anderson placed 24th with a 15:48, just clinching All-Ohio honors. This time would've given Anderson 4th place in both the D2 and D3 races, which shows how competitive D1 is. Anderson is only a junior and will be back next year to compete.
Also, congrats to Bellevue's girls team for placing 18th out of 20 teams (led by Waldecker, Turner, Ish, Verhoff and Spurlock), as well as Shelby's Makenna Heimlich for placing 77th individually.
That concludes NOL cross country! Next year Ontario will join the MOAC, while Willard will join the SBC bay division and the remaining NOL teams (Bellevue, Columbian, Norwalk, Sandusky and Shelby) will join the SBC lake division. I plan on creating threads for the SBC bay and lake divisions next year to keep everyone updated. My early predictions- Norwalk and Shelby will again battle it out but Norwalk will claim the first lake division title, while Edison will easily repeat as the bay division champion.
Great season to all!

Norwalk finished the season strong. Proud of their efforts! The exciting point is that we only lose two runners - Bores & Berry. Three of the top 5 runners the last couple of weeks were sophomores. The team has several underclassmen looking to step up and fill those shoes. Looking for great things these next couple years!
Congrats to Anderson!
Looking forward to track season . . . indoor season just around the corner!
