Very true, both can lose money, but that is not what we were discussing is it? Actually it is. The basic complaint about title IX is that it has taken opportunities away from non revenue generating men's sports and given them to non revenue generating women's sports. That is in fact a true statement. We are talking about the discriminating of young men . They are not getting the same sports or amount of sports that the young women are today. Even if you say non revenue sports. it is still wrong to take away a non revenue mans sport but still offer the same non revenue womens sport can you not see that ?

What is supposed to be "equal" is not the amount of money spent on women's and men's sports. The "equal" part is scholarships. Football screws other men's sports. Football is allowed 85 scholarships. NO women's sports require close to that many scholarships. Thus men's sports must be dropped so the number of scholarships for men and women can be close to an equal number.

Gender is a social construct, and most of you have let society define how you view gender and what you perceive as gender differences. All humans are the same with the same capabilities, bigots in society cause all differences by espousing their bigoted views on others causing some to succumb to those views and not excel like they could have if those bigots did not exist to espouse their bigoted views. I'm gender neutral and can do anything any other human can do.

That's my point. The point of Title IX is equality. If you are going to use public money to fund colleges then you have to use it evenly. You're problem isn't women's sports your problem is that football eats up 85 scholarships. The NFL doesn't have an 85 man roster, not even close, and they literally print money. Cut the scholarships down to the size of an NFL roster and you will have more than enough to bring back the sports that the mid majors have dropped.

Why do we say football is a mens sport only and deduct from the mens total only.
Let's say football is a mens and womems sport equally, girls currently play if they are good enough correct?
A football scholarship could be earned by a girls if they are good enough right and don't say no because if they really were and wanted to play we would be forced to offer it to them and you know it.
That being said why should the football scholarships only be considered mens ? Because the vast majority of them go to men ? Is that right?
The total number given in football should not be held against men only just because women are not good enough to earn them.
I am quickly becoming a Rambo fan

If the best you can argue is that football is a coed sport than you need to just stop. Whining about mid major men’s sports you should have better things to worry about.

Stop Whining is the wrong thing to do. Cry Babies are the ones that get their way these days. Because they cried first they made the problems we have today. Maybe if we cry enough we will start getting treated fairly. This country is set up to discriminate against men today

If you think men are still being discriminated against, take a look at S&P 500 board room composition or office politics. Women do not get a fair shake. Everybody, men and women, are eating a poop sandwich when it comes to life.
If you are a boy and get all A's in high school, you will have most every door open up for you in terms of colleges. I was valedictorian in high school. I am a white male. I have no shred of doubt that if I were a minority woman that I would have likely been able to more easily get money from more selective schools like Duke or Stanford or an Ivy. However, I was still able to attend a Big East school with a top 100 business program on a full-ride, academic scholarship. Instead of whining and moaning, I chose to work hard and make it undeniable to select me. My brother was in the same boat as me, and had full-ride offers that he turned down for the school he wanted. If he were a minority, that full-ride from his dream school would've been a reality. In the grand scheme, the academic prowess of his two final choices were negligible.
I reckon my career trajectory was minimally impacted despite being "at a disadvantage" when it came to college applications. Hell, that disadvantage turns out to be the regrettably biggest advantage in the financial world: being a white male. I'd much rather take my odds in this world being the ethnic/gender makeup that I am than any other situation. I wish it were not the case, but it is.

Bottom line to me is if you try to force equality it will never work. It only creates animosity between people, along with jealousy and fear.

What’s with all these pussy males on here. Grow up and grow a pair. If women are equal to men then they should compete vs men. Remember when we separated black and white baseball players? Blacks said they weren’t inferior and could compete with whites, so the got their shot and proved it. Women think they can do everything a man can do, let’s give them their shot. No more women’s tennis, women’s golf, women’s basketball, women’s track & field, let them compete straight up with men and prove they are equal. Oh that’s right they aren’t equal, they’d get their ***** kicked.

This country is set up to discriminate against men today So just to be clear, using money at publicly funded universities evenly between both men and women is now the new definition of discrimination. You do realize that females make up half the population, right? So in your world using the resources 70/30 in favor of males wasn't discrimination? Also the cutbacks to men's sports in the MAC happened a decade and a half ago. You finally realizing this now shows me that it must have made a huge impact on your life at the time.

You want to cling to your argument that men are bigger, faster, and stronger as a rationalization to justify the use of public money in favor of males, have at it. Just riddle me this, at the end of the day how does a scholarship athlete on a men's baseball team benefit Kent State more than a scholarship athlete on the women's soccer team?

And maybe a deserving girl got a scholarship there in his place?
How do you think that is any more fair if it went to a girl ? How would you like that to happen to you or your kid Let me try to explain this to you in a different way. What are athletic scholarships really? They are not about the sport. At the end of the day they are financial aid. Athletic scholarships are part of a financial aid package. They are about opportunities to attend college, not about the sport itself. You can't skew opportunities to attend college 70/30 in favor of men, particularly when you are using public moneys to do it. Look at it this way, The women who are now receiving athletic scholarship assistance are no longer using the same amount of money in Pell Grants and other government programs and loans. That money can now be used to benefit the non athletic males as well.

Animosity can be seen from a great athlete that cannot attend his favorite school because his sport has been cut by Title IX. Like I have been saying, if someone is being force on others as their equal then they will never be seen that way. If the only reason they are here is because of Title IX then how are they equal?

In my scenario his sport was cut because of Title IX. And his free education is a good option, but we can discuss your idea of not using any scholarships if you want to.

Actually Title IX started these problems in the 70’s. I don’t believe any of us on here today were old enough to say much about it back then. But we are today, so why should we just sit back at take it.

Dear valedictorian Have you ever heard it said that some people who are book smart have no common sense ? Just because you think you are smarter than everyone else does not mean that it is true or that you are any more valuable to society. There are people out there that can get straight A’s in Physics but are too stupid to be able to change their own flat tire.

Look at all the emasculated soy boys on here afraid to be real men. You let women say they are equal then allow them to get all the extra benefits. Stand up to them.
If women were equal then we wouldn't need women's basketball, tennis, golf, etc, men are SUPERIOR to them that's why they need their little leagues If women were equal then female reporters would not be allowed into NFL & NBA locker rooms after games to interview males with their trouser snacks swaying back and forth as they walk from the shower to their locker. Do you really think male reporters are allowed into women's locker rooms to see all the females naked? Yeah right, #metoo crap If women were equal then women teachers would be getting 20 years behind bars for having sex with teenage boys instead of slaps on the hand. A resent female teacher gave a 14 year old boy a blowjob, she gets to keep teaching and got no jail time. If a male did that to a 14 year old girl he'd be seeing 20+ behind bars.
Stop being soy boys and grow a pair. Women aren't equal and you know it. 100 meter dash, they'd get smoked High jump, they'd get smoked power lifting, they'd get smoked Quit cowering to women, stand up and be a man.

Why are males CEO's and not women? Anyone that seriously asks that question is flat out dumb. D-U-M-B, dumb, dumb, dumb. There are nearly 2 times more males than females with IQ's over 130 There are 6 times more males than females with IQ's over 160 There are 10 times more males than females with IQ's over 170 The smartest people are males. It's okay to be male.

There are people out there that can get straight A’s in Physics but are too stupid to be able to change their own flat tire. Some people can sing. Some people can work with numbers. Some people work with their hands. Some people can throw a tight spiral. They all have a right to be proud of what they do. I don't insinuate with my post that I am better than other laborers - people have died to have the right to work a fair wage in a humane environment. I don't find myself so insecure that I have to look down on others to justify my own pride.
