Curtis Samuel currently has 260 yards rushing and 259 receiving. If this production continues through the remaining 10 regular season games, plus a potential game 13 and 14. He could go over 1000 in each category. Only 2 players in NFL history accomplished this, Marshall Faulk and Craig James, they did it in 16 games. In Percy Harvin's best year at Florida, he had 764 rushing and 858 receiving yards. If Samuel goes past those numbers, the H-back in Urban's offense can no longer be called the "Percy Harvin position". How would the "Curtis Samuel Position" sound? Roger Craig did so for the 49ers in '85

NFL records have zero relevancy to this discussion. How many NCAA DI or FBS players have exceded the double 1,000 yd. milestone?

side note I missed this question on a trivia night at a Mexican joint and it cost me first place and a gift certificate. Who is the only running back with single season 2,000+ rushing yards in college and in the NFL?

NFL records have zero relevancy to this discussion. How many NCAA DI or FBS players have exceded the double 1,000 yd. milestone? The reason for the NFL, due to their 16+ games/year and colleges playing fewer games in the past. As far as I know it's never been done in NCAA DI.

In the BCS era, Athlon rated the top 50 RB's and only 5 have surpassed 1000 receiving yards for their careers....Quentin Griffin , Jaquizz Rogers, CJ Spiller, Demarco Murray, Reggie Bush(or didn't that happen?)..Ricky was at 927 receiving for his career. Appears it is a system thing, as two of the 5 were Oklahoma Sooners.

Bishop Gorman defeats Ft. Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas 25-24 in 3 O.T.'s
The nation's high school game of the year, was an epic battle of perennial, national powerhouses in Las Vegas, Nevada
The country’s No. 7 high school football team Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas travelled to Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, the country’s No. 1 team, for a Friday night nationally televised game.
Bishop Gorman led the defensive battle 3-0 at halftime. But Ohio State wide receiver commitment Trevon Grimes caught a 53-yard touchdown pass on a trick play in the third quarter to give Aquinas a 7-3 lead.
The lead held up until another Buckeye commitment, Tate Martell, connected for a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to give Bishop Gorman a 10-7 lead.
Bubba Bolden, who the Buckeyes have offered, had a big night for the Gaels.
Aquinas lost Trevon Grimes with a left leg injury shortly after his touchdown catch hampering their bid to re-take the lead. Aquinas was intercepted in the end zone by Bubba Bolden on the play Grimes sustained his injury.
But even without their star receiver, Aquinas was able to make a late drive and kick a 24-yard field goal as regulation time expired. The kick tied the game at 10-10 as the two teams headed to overtime.
In overtime Aquinas started with the ball and on the first play quarterback Jake Allen hit Jordan Merrell for a 10-yard score.
Martell, on fourth and eight, threw a touchdown pass of his own and the extra point sent the game to a second overtime.
In the second overtime Bishop Gorman started with the football. After Martell gained four yards down to the 1-yard line, Bishop Gorman was stuffed on fourth down.
Aquinas then took over on downs after their big goal line, drove down field and on third down attempted a 25-yard field goal to win it. But the kick hit the crossbar and fell no good. Bolden seemed to get a finger on the ball.
In the third overtime Aquinas started with the ball and scored on a 1-yard run on 2nd down to take a 24-17 lead. Martell came right back and on the first play threw a 10-yard touchdown pass. When Aquinas was penalized, Bishop Gorman decided to go for two and the win. Running back Biaggio Ali-Walsh took a pitch from Martell and got into the end zone for the win 25-24.
Bubba Bolden, another Bishop Gorman player the Buckeyes have offered a scholarship, intercepted two passes on the night and made five tackles including one for loss. Ohio State defensive tackle commitment Haskell Garrett also was big with his play for Bishop Gorman.
Bishop Gorman how now won 45 games in a row.

Bowl games stats have only started being counted in the last 20 years and they play more regular season games now than they used to so I'd guess no one has ever done it in college. But now with 12 games, plus 1 Conference Championship, plus a bowl game the feat might be eclipsed soon. PJ Pope who played under Meyer at BGSU had 3,000+ rushing and 1,000+ receiving yards in his career. His best solo season was 1,000+ rush and 490 receiving. Marshall Faulk who did the trick in the NFL had a 1,530 rushing, 644 receiving in 1993 at SDSU Christian McCaffrey went for 2,019 rushing, 645 receiving last year Ohio State Greats Keith Byars went for 1,764 rushing, 479 receiving in 1984 Eddie George went for 1,927 rushing, 417 receiving in 1995

Zero rushing TD's allowed thus far by Ohio State, unmatched in FBS.
Ohio State and Alabama now both at 3-1 to win the National Title. Followed by Clemson at 5-1, then Tenn and U of M at 10-1.
Since Warriner and Beck have teamed up in the press box, starting with the U of M game last year. The Ohio State offense has averaged 52 points/game.

if you're a coordinator i don't know why you would want to be anywhere but in the press box...that view is unrivaled

Warriner didn't want to be in the press box last year when he was still also the O-line coach. He wanted to be on the field with his dozen or so players. UNTIL Urban made him go upstairs for the U of M game and the Bowl game against ND. This is why Studrawa was hired to coach the O-line. This year Warriner only has to worry about TEs, a couple of players.

yeah it was a no-win situation for Warriner in some respects, i can certainly understand wanting to be on the sideline as a line coach, but it was the right call to put him in the booth because o-coordinator duties supercede line coach duties...
...and really if you're trying to coordinate an entire unit you HAVE to be upstairs looking down on the whole field

....And speaking of line coaches, if this offensive line continues to impress the way I think they will, Greg Studrawa is in for some accolades.

Interesting, last year Brian Knorr was Indiana's D-coordinator making $365,000/year. This year he's a Quality Control coach on Urban Meyer's staff, making $500/month. Soon young coaches will be paying Ohio State to be a twig on Urban's coaching tree.

Urban says, "The one positive about Ohio State fans is they're out of their minds... you get 100,000 for a spring game. The negative is, you play 4 games and they're calling the defense the best ever.

Ohio State has worked out a deal with the US Air Force for them to undertake "hands on research" of the football program's training, nutrition and hydration regimens. In hopes it can be applied to Special Ops personnel. WOW!

Former Buckeye Zeke Elliot is lighting up the NFL, leading the NFL in rushing yards per game at 109.2. That is 17 yards more per game than 2nd place.

When Dez Bryant is healthy and ready to suit up, do you sit the Leagues leading rusher? Not sure what you're getting at? Bryant is a receiver.

Urban needs 2 more wins this season to become the head coach with the most wins in their first 15 seasons. How's that possible, never heard that uttered over the air waves of ESPN radio or tv? [sarcasm intended] They have elevated Saban to an exclusive, holy place in college football and has no equal, short of God. Guess what, Urban is about 13 years his junior and if he stays the course will surpass Saban in virtually every measurable. Urban is in rarified air, when pertaining to coaches all-time winning percentages. Urban sits at #6 on the all-time list at .851, poised to overtake the late, great Doyt L. Perry in the near future to move up to #5. That would make him the winningest coach in modern day football.....period. Meanwhile the greatest coach to ever draw breath (Saban), sits at #72 on the all-time list with a respectable .760 winning percentage. Nick slid around Woody Hayes very recently, who is at #73 and a .759 winning % Lets say both coaches retire at the same age, the win/loss record disparity between the two great coaches will be very significant.

Ohio State's bad passer is the Big Ten's 1st Team QB for 2016. How can that be when 4 of the top 7 teams in the country are Big Ten teams?

This is rather wild, speculative thoughts at this point, but with all the talk of Greg Schiano accepting a head coaching position, could we possibly see Mark Helfrich joining Urban's party?

RUmor has it he's going to Oregon. Hopefully he stays tho. That'd be a loss. But Ohio st can get about any assistant they want. But heard Oregon also wants a Kelly. So who knows.

I think a lot of players are going to side on sticking around to be part of what promises to be a magical year. That thought process may be in assistant coaches as well.

Urban asks for at least 2 years from every assistant he hires. After 2 years he promises to do everything he can to get them a head job if they want one. THE Urban Meyer coaching tree.
