Forgive me for asking, is the well drying up in Shelby? No, plenty of great players in the program.

Shelby Whippet football coach Erik Will has resigned after 6 years of leading the Whippets. Coach Will met with the players before school to announce the decision. Statement from Coach Will: "I have been coaching for nearly 2 decades and I have coached around 1,500 players at 4 different schools. Coaching is in my blood. I am taking a needed mental/emotional break from running a 12 month program. I know I am a relatively a young guy but I am going to enjoy some time with my wife and 2 daughters. I believe the football program is healthy and in much better shape than 6 years ago but It's time for a new voice for these young men. I am taking a break from the administrative responsibilities as well as meeting the parent/community expectations. Every person is different, every coach is different... I know I have reached my limit. Coaching in Shelby has been so cool and such a rewarding experience. The SHS administration is been first rate and I have coached with great assistants that care deeply about the players. Coaching is great because it opens up doors to build relationships with young people that are starving for attention and have a desire to be pushed mentally and physically. I will always respect all of the young men that have played for me the last 6 years here at Shelby.
Overall record 37-30 (55.2 % winning) 1 League SBC League Title 2017 2 Playoff appearances/Regional Finals (2016, 2017) 1 State Final 4 appearance 2017

Underachieved IMO. Comments in the article are laughable on many levels. Next. 2011 0-10 2012 2-8 2013- 1-9 2014 2-8 Shelby's record before Will took over. To say he underachieved is laughable. Shelby is not a good coaching job, it took a coach coming back to his hometown to bring back a program and now that guy doesn't even want the job. Good luck with that. I would expect to see Coach Will with a new job sooner then later. Hopefully Shelby gets used to the above win loss records because thats where your headed back too.

Will was the Head Coach for 13 and 14 teams that went 1-9 and 2-8, respectively

I had heard from someone in Shelby that he interviewed for the Olentangy Berlin job after last football season but did not get offered the job. Probably just a rumor, but interesting.

Will's coaching record at Shelby. 2013- 1-9 2014 2-8 2015 5-5 2016 11-2 2017 13-1 2018 5-5 Having great talent can help. That is not a judgment on his coaching ability but a statement that he had 2 great seasons with some of the best talent in Shelby history.

According to him he withdrew his name from consideration. Pretty sure we all know how that goes. It makes perfect sense to pull your name when you get notified " we appreciate your interest but,".
