if some folks choose to remember the long toss as their lasting image of Bauer that is fine, i will always remember the bleeding warrior who stood on the mound in the WS dripping crimson onto the turf with tears streaming down his cheeks...that is how i will remember him

Indians are 1/2 game out of the wildcard. Rays 90-63, Tribe 89-63. Rays finish with Red Sox-4, Yankees-2, Blue Jays-3. Indians have Tigers-1, Phillies-3, White Sox-3 and Nationals-3. Advantage Tribe!! (hopefully). Weird that we have so many inter-league games at the end of the year.

Quite a year for the Tribe. Basically played the year without Kluber, Carrasco and Salazar. Then they traded away Bauer. Have lost Ramirez, Naquin and Kipnis to injuries. And somehow they're still in the hunt and likely to win about 95 games.

It doesn't look good for the Tribe.

tribe down 6-0 to the white sox .so the tribe has run out of gas because the last 2 nights they arent hitting and the pitching let us down. so the wild card is very slim.

pitchers ran out of gas but basically same problem have had all year -- inconsistent hitting. Wasted first two months of season with a minor league lineup thanks to management and this is what happens. Think team did well given those factors but what a wasted season

i don't think it was a wasted season, it sucks we missed the playoffs but we are rebuilding the roster on the fly and doing a pretty good job
Mercado got a full year of experience, we got the Franimal locked up for the next few years, our young pitchers got some good experience (Civale and Plesac), Clevinger has emerged as a true ace, so has Bieber.
Gotta remember we were in the hunt until the last couple of days of the season after missing our #1 pitcher for most of the year (Kluber), losing our #2 to Leukemia, trading our #3, and losing Clevinger for two full months.
Future is still bright, we have the most exciting crop of 19 year-olds in the minors, we develop starting pitchers like Napa Valley develops grapes, and we still have Lindor and Ramirez locked up (who also both missed big chunks of the season this year).
MIN ain't gonna hit 300 HRs again, and KC and DET are still wrecks. KC is gonna be a mess for a loooong time. At least DET has some young arms in their system.

What was the reason we didn't resign Brantley?
Injuries cost us the Playoffs and Central Div Title. Just too many to overcome.

$$$$ Sad to say. I recently read the Dolans spent12% more than their total baseball revenue in day to day expenses last season.Salaries, management, infrastructure, etc, People who want the Dolans to sell the team might want to be careful what they wish for. Not many businessmen who could afford a baseball team would continually spend more money that they bring in. The Dolans have been doing just that for years.Small market teams are at a disadvantage in MLB. Cleveland's scouting dept and farm systems deserve tons of credit for keeping the big league team competitive year after year. Francona is the best manager in baseball IMO. I look at next years roster and we should be right there again if we stay healthy, unlike this year. 1st Santana 2nd Ramirez(Kip's gone)SS Lindor 3rd ??Chang/Freeman C Perez OF Mercado Luplow,Zimmer,Allen,Bauers Naquin. There are a few holes there but not a bad roster to get started with. BTW my 2019 team MVP is Carl Willis

Just too many to overcome. in all honesty it has been a long time since Brantley has had a really good season, and they probably didn't want to re-sign him at his age and with his injury history would have been nice to extend him a QA though and get some draft compensation also, hitting in HOU lineup is something altogether different than hitting in the CLE lineup, no guarantee he has the season he has had if he is still in CLE getting pitched around as opposed to HOU where he is getting pitched to

wonder if Bradley Zimmer can ever give us anything...not real hopeful but he will go into next season healthy and our OF depth is non-existent after Mercado

It will be interesting to see what they do with Hand. I think 2020 is the last year on his somewhat large contract and he probably has some value so maybe they trade him before he walks? If he's gone, I'm not sure who will close. Adam Cimber? Salazar? The Indians bullpen had a 3.74 ERA this year (3rd best in baseball) so, imo it would be nice to keep Hand next year and sign him for a few more years.

Tired arms (Bieber, Clevinger, etc. let team down at the end), tired bats: scoring droughts at the end of the season, inconsistent hitting with many shutouts pitched by tribe pitchers, HOWEVER, the tribe had as many shutouts pitched against them. As usual, it's always wait until next year.

Plus IF the Indians had even gotten into the playoffs there's no way that they could ever beat the Astros, the Twins, or the A's considering how the regular season went. They did take the season series against the Yankees, Red Sox, and the Twins.
