Well it's tournament time for the boys. Marion Harding is done since they lost to Hilliard Bradley 53-29 on Saturday. Most team will have some tough games, will be interesting to see who will make it to the second game or week 2. Central District will play sectionals at higher seed HS, while the Northwest District plays at a Neutral site, which I like.
Monday 2/25 River Valley vs. Columbus Eastmoor Academy @ Eastmoor Academy HS. @ 7pm. Winner will play Columbus Bishop Hartley on Saturday 3/2 @ Bishop Hartley HS @ 1pm.
Northmor vs. Marion Pleasant @ Pleasant HS @7pm. Winner gets the winner of the Bishop Ready/Fairbanks game, at Higher seed HS on Saturday 3/2 @ 7pm.
Tuesday 2/26 Shelby vs. Sandusky @ Bucyrus HS @7pm. Winner gets Vermilion @bucyrus HS on Friday 3/1 @6:15pm.
Wednesday 2/27 Galion vs. Ontario @ Willard HS @ 6:15pm. Winner gets the Milan Edison/Lexington winner on Friday 3/1 @6:15pm.
Clear Fork vs. Bellevue @ Bucyrus HS @6:15pm. Winner gets the Mansfield Sr./Port Clinton winner on Friday 3/2 @ 8pm.

What a game by Shelby. Pugh and Schwemley both with 16. Everyone made a big play it seemed.

Alsip didn't take any bad shots. He wasn't doubled teamed, Shaver was in his grill all night. He didn't play much in the 2nd half. If I had to guess, I don't think the coach was pleased with his defense.
Running clock from about the 6:30 mark in the 4th quarter.

Disappointed: YesSurprised: NoVery strange game plan. He had multiple open looks and could not finish. For being the best player they have I did not see them run anything to get him a good look at the rim. From what I saw the galion kid is not good enough to carry a team but his team is not good enough to help him get open.

Didn't one of you Galion fellas say Alsip would more than likely break Nate's scoring record there?? What happened?

Dude, did you and Willard Fillmore sit together for the game?? Can't say for sure but I'd guess we did not. I know you two are buddies so you should know who he was sitting with.

Interesting fact. The Vermilion Head Coach was at the Lexington game but not the Clear Fork or Mansfield game. I think he was sitting with Norwalk's coaches.

Willard is closer. I'm sure the Lex coaches gave him all the tape of Senior he needed. He went to Willard to pick'em up.

From what I saw the galion kid is not good enough to carry a team but his team is not good enough to help him get open. They rarely run plays for him to get open. They run a lot of motion offense. If you cut hard, use screens as you should ALL players in the offense can get shots. In the case of Ontario they have 3 good outside shooters. You can't double or help off one for the other without leaving one open for shots. Not only is Shaver Ontario's best offensive player he's also the best guard defender and about the same size as Alsip. Alsip is pretty well put together and 6-1, he needs to work on taking it to the basket instead of settling for 3-points or mid-range jumpers. Layups and close shots are easier to make and will get you to the line MUCH more often, than settling.
