Hopefully we can get some talk about this game going. Vermilion enters at 18-5 Mansfield Senior enters at 19-4 Wednesday, 6:15 PM at Mansfield Madison Going to be a great matchup imo... both teams play aggressive half court defense and will look to apply full court pressure as well. Both teams attack the basket offensively and have several capable shooters to compliment that. Each team alsohas some big body’s that are capable of playing around the basket. If senior high plays smarter defense than they did against Cf as far as the fouling goes, they should pull this out. I believe X factors are #30 for vermilion and 24 for sr high. I believe they guard each other’s best offensive player and both are athletic and capable of getting to the basket. Look forward to watching this one!

Good preview article for tonight's game: www.sanduskyregister.com/story/201903050017As the article notes, last year Vermilion lost by 3 to Lexington playing without two injured starters and despite shooting 2-for-29 from 3-point range. That doesn't mean anything for tonight's game, but it's further evidence that the Sailors almost always seem to play to the level of their competition. Win or lose, it should be very close.

Sailors up 45-42 after 3Q.
Vermilion 49-47 with 4:40 left.
V up 53-47 with 2:10 left.
V up 55-49 with 1:33 left and possession after TO.
Sailors up 57-51 with the ball. 31 seconds left.
Congrats to the Sailors on a huge win, 59-51. Jonah Pfeil was huge, scoring 20 while keeping Hilory in check. He had 18 but had to earn it.

Looks like it could be an all SBC District final... Go Truckers Saw Norwalk twice this year, and Vermilion twice. Vermilion far and away the better TEAM. Norwalk has far and away the best player. Contain Harraway and Vermilion wins easily.

Ontario more than "contained" Haraway tonight. He only had 6 points 2 minutes into the 4th quarter and 13 for a 3 overtime game. His teammates won this game tonight.

Norwalk controls the game tempo. Vermilion needs a game tempo. Will be a good game.

If Haraway gets close to his average they win by double figures in regulation. He only scored 6 in the first 3 quarters. Gotta give his teammates some credit.
Norwalk shot as badly on 2 pointers and at the line as Ontario shot on 3-pointers.
Ontario's D did their job, frustrating Haraway, but they had their worst shooting night of the year.

Norwalk had their stinker tonight. It will be close unless they can frustrate Haraway.

What saved us (Norwalk) was Ontario`s horrible 3 point shooting.

What saved us (Norwalk) was Ontario`s horrible 3 point shooting. AND Ontario's 88% free throw shooter missing the front end of a 1 and 1, battling cramps in both legs.

The 2nd one didn't surprise me. That Soph isn't ready for prime time, he missed every shot he took tonight from the floor and the line. I figured Shaver would struggle on offense tonight since his primary responsibility was to hound Haraway, but he made 2 HUGE shots before he fouled out. The other Soph HAD to step up tonight and couldn't.
On the other hand Coburn became a man tonight. I hope he remembers how he played, he could be special next year. Joe has said that he has no idea how good he can be. Those years playing for Mansfield Christian has kept him from believing.

If we are going to talk about missed free throws, Haraway missed so many towards the end of regulation. Including front end of 1 and 1's, I counted 6 or 8 just at the end of 4th quarter. Hadn't seen him play yet this year but assume he's a pretty good free throw shooter. Should have never made it out of regulation.

He obviously isn't an 88% FT shooter. Shaver then Coburn's defense bothered him all night as his frustration grew. Missed all 3-pointers he took as he was guard close beyond the arc. Was held to 1 basket in regulation. Had 3 charging fouls. On one of his drives, his lay up attempt went off the BACK of the backboard. Had a T called on him early in the 3rd quarter. Gray spent a good part of his timeouts the rest of the way trying to settle down his star.
As I said in another post. If Haraway played like he usually does Norwalk wins by doubled figures in regulation. However. Ontario's coaching staff's plan was NOT to allow him to play in his comfort zone. If memory serves, Lexington's defense allowed Haraway to score 23 of his teams 45 AT Lexington.

Not known as a great shooter, even in games I have seen, the kid has been able to hit 1 out of 3 shots from the three point line, except for the Lexington game when he was over 70% from the 3pt line. One of them being a buzzer beating bank shot from 25 feet. The team will go as far as he can take them. It 's not a secret.
