Saw a number of great performances at the Ontario Invite,
Kerrigan Myers of Galion with three individual wins, 200M, High Jump, and 100M Hurdles. I saw the 100M Hurdles 14:68 she looked very strong.
Makenna Heimlich of Shelby in the 800M 2:16.76 was a nice run.
Colby Fox had a pair of wins in the 100M and 200M looks to be running well.
Shelby runners Caleb Brown and Blake Lucius looked strong as well with wins in the 1600M and 400M.
I may have missed mentioning some great performances so if you saw any post them.
Grace Maurer of Ontario 1600M 5:16.59, Does anybody know was that a meet record or a PR ? She looked great and they seemed pretty excited after the race.

Meet record and School record.
Ontario's Keandre "Slim" Marlow won the 100 Hurdles(first year running that event) in a slow 16.07, hitting 4 hurdles and running into a strong head wind. High Jumped 6-3. Ran a leg on the winning Shuttle Hurdle Relay team and Pole Vaulted 12-6, yet he gets very little bend in the pole he's using and doesn't get a complete turn when going over the bar. He can also LJ 20'.
He's accepted a scholarship to U of Findlay. They plan to have him become a Decathlete. He also had a couple of offers from schools for Soccer.
----------------------
Marlow is down to 15.4 in the highs, HJ 6-5, PV 13'
Marlow ran the 300 Hurdles for the first time at the Galion Relays. Winning in 41.2

Will be interesting to watch the Shelby distance boys progress. Much the like the Norwalk 4x800 squad from 2014 (3 of 4 ran D1 in college) the regular season is all about the state championship. Norwalk that season culminated in a 7:43 and a 2nd place in D1 in June. Will Shelby be able to have the discipline and fortune to peak when it matters...

I don’t believe the 4x8 record will fall to Shelby this year with members of the distance crew having illness mono this track season and not being able to preform to their potential. 4x8 had a shot at new school record and a title but that’s going to be very tuff with members not at 100%. I don’t believe Logan is running in 4x8 at league. A healthy pair of Sams things would look different. Also a healthy Logan probably wins the 1600 at state, his teammate Brown was one of the few D2 that had a chance to beat him. but with mono I don’t know how that will pan out. I’ve seen it in the past with kids just not able to hit their potential while still recovering from illness. It’s a shame saw this group miss winning a CC title in the NOL 2016 when Friebel had mono.

I was referring to State (for the 4x800) which is the goal I would assume. Seeing that they are different days (relay/individual) rest/illness by then still a month away they should be good. My daughter ran at State setting a HS PR at regionals after having Mono in early March. So I don’t see that being too much of issue depending where they are at in the recovery process. Hopefully they are heading in the right direction physically as it will be fun to follow...

Day one of the MOAC league meet 5-7-19
Shelby Boys won the 4x8, no surprise the meet record did not fall without Logan running his leg and without any real challenge they didn’t push it.
The good 4x800 race turned out to be with the girls between Shelby and Ontario. With Ontario taking the win and setting a new meet record. Great race on the anchor legs between Shelby’s Makenna Heimlich Ontario’s Grace Maurer both are great runners. The 25M or so defecate that Makenna tried to make up just turned out to be too much. She caught up to Grace too quickly on the back stretch of lap one and passed her. Then took the brunt of the strong head wind on the back side of lap two. She should have pulled up behind Grace and tried to make her move the final 200M let Grace cut the wind down that back stretch. That is what Grace ended up doing to Makenna, Grace is too good and too strong to just try and blow by her that early and think she cant hang with you. Great strategy and race from Maurer these were two really good runners going at it, it was fun to watch. Congrats to the Ontario girls, nice job

If that 2:20.6 is the record I see Shelby’s Makenna Heimlich with a real possibility of breaking that she has already gone under 2:16 this year indoor (2:15.64 PR) . I believe if she gets the MOAC record she would hold the current girls 800M record in 3 leagues at the same time. NOL 2:18.72 SBC 2:19.73 MOAC I believe Makenna did it the 2:18.64 she ran at MOAC should be a new record. Think the current record was 2:19.35 by Aziza Ayoub 2016, Jonathan Alder not the 2:20.6 above. Unless someone in the SBC broke the 2:19.73 I believe she currently holds the league record in three leagues.

Lots of 1st,2nd,and 3rds by Shelby and Galion boys and also the Galion and Ontario girls
Some notable performers BV’s Chloe Dawson nice to see her healthy again after an injury during the CC season showing she’s one of the top distance girls. Galion’s Colbey Fox and Kerrigan Myers are always strong and points in the bank they will be running for a few more weeks for sure. Ontario’s Grace Maurer’s leg of the 4x800 is worth bringing up again. Shelby’s Caleb Brown with a pair of wins in the 1600 and 3200 one of the best distance guys around. Shelby’s Makenna Heimlich new 800 record and great anchor leg in the 4X400. Uriah Schwemley of Shelby was good for a number of points.
I’ve only mentioned a few MOAC athletes but there are many very good ones be proud of them.

Ontario's Keandre Marlow won the 300 hurdles at the MOAC meet, in only his 2nd time running the event. His best time in the Highs in 14.92, Lows 39.52, HJ 6-5, PV 13-0.
He also long jumps over 20 feet in practice and has run a leg on the 4X400, under 50 seconds.

And
Congrats to the Ontario Girls NW District Champions in the 4x800 9:29.93 Anna Gregg, Ariah Reuer, Ellie Maurer , Grace Maurer
Ontario Girls set a new meet record, this is a good looking group it will be fun to see how they do the next couple weeks. The Shelby boys were about a second off the meet record. Talking with them after they didn’t know during the race they were that close or they would have pushed a little harder.
