If Willard does not beat Newbury they should shut down the school.

If Willard does not beat Newbury they should shut down the school. If Willard makes a deep tournament run for boys hoops, it'll be Newbury who?

I wonder how long it'll take this thread to reach 65 pages.
Newbury has had trouble fielding a team over the last few years. The school system will be merging with West Geauga for the '20-'21 school year.

Arbiter shows they play Lucas not Newbury but that could be wrong.

Arbiter showed Newbury back in August when I posted the SBC future non conference schedules, so that game has apparently been changed since then. Makes sense given the post above about Newbury's struggles and coming merger.

Different sport, same old attack Willard's schedule because we think Willard still has it's 1980's enrollment. Willard is drastically smaller than it was just a decade ago and just eyeballing the schedule I see 5 teams bigger than Willard and I don't know about Southeast. So Willard is playing 4 maybe 5 teams smaller. I wonder how many schools Norwalk is playing smaller? All of them? That's okay though because Norwalk fans just want Willard to be prepared for the playoffs.

Just looked it up Southeast it is bigger than Willard too. So Willard plays 6 schools bigger and 4 smaller. Attack away.

Oh I wasn't attacking. Willard doesn't need a tougher schedule until they can go over .500 with their current schedule.
However, if they are in fact playing Newbury this year, losing would be a tremendous occasion for me to laugh at Willard's expense. There is going to be no single more truthful answer coming from this Shelby fan's heart than that.

The 5 schools(not teams) that are bigger that Willard, the SBC MAKES Willard play. The schools that Willard schedules are smaller...hmmmmm. I'd give up on this bigger/smaller thing, it's making Willard dads look bad.

Willard made a choice to play in the SBC, we could go Independent but didn’t. So we choose to play 6 teams bigger and 4 smaller. Belittle us though while all you Norwalk fans ignore your schedule where probably all the opponents are smaller. Willard is the size of New London now, long gone are the days that Willard was the size of Shelby, Bellevue, Norwalk. Life moves on, keep up.

NO school wants or chooses to be an independent, over being in ANY kind of a league. You're digging a deeper hole, quit while you're behind. AGAIN, instead of worrying about sports schedules, you should be more concerned with why so many are leaving Willard compared to Shelby, Bellevue and Norwalk. BTW Willard was never been close to Norwalk's size.

Arbiter shows they play Lucas not Newbury but that could be wrong. The schedule I posted came from Coach DeVier.

Is it against the law for Willard to play a school smaller than them?

Huron played Southeast...comparable to a vermilion in football.. their school is out in the sticks in ravenna.. that was a travel... they do put on some good brats... and they were friendly..good people...

Is it against the law for Willard to play a school smaller than them? When I see a team like Newbury scheduled, I can't know what other options the AD had presented before him. If the choice was between Newbury and a team that was unquestionably going to beat Willard, then I would have picked Newbury as well. The size isn't the issue. There are plenty of D7 schools in the area that can pack a punch. It is moreso the talent associated with the size. Newbury is literally going to be non-existent in a few years. Once again though, if all other reasonable local teams aren't open, I can't say there is much to do.

Willard does play Lucas week 5 and not newbury! The schedule coach Devier tweeted had not been updated and he didn’t realize it! Lucas coming to flashes field on week 5

Look at that, a D7 school that can pack a punch. Much better game for everybody involved.

I read on twitter this morning that Cooper was offered by D2 Urbana Univ . Hopefully the first of many. I imagine he'll be super motivated to show the college scouts he's got what it takes to be a D1 QB.

Hard to say. I kinda feel like he's a mid major D1 QB prospect. Has the size and arm strength. As for hoops,it seems like I've heard he had some D2 inquiries also. It probably will come down to which situation is the best fit financially and athletically. You need to afford college,,,and of course you want to play at a skill level that you are able to get playing time. I would imagine Charlie Frye gave him some input on what might be the best fit. Hoops or Football. He's got some options I'm sure.

That was probably a key receiver for him, correct? Who do they have coming back on offense? Is there a 7 on 7 this Saturday? I heard there was but I can't find anything on the calendar that shows anything. I'd like to get up and watch them play some.

I talked to a coach yesterday and he said his team is playing at Willard Saturday starting at 10:00. He thought there was going to be 10 teams.
