Why would the Pinkston kid not play? I’m hearing he is focusing on basketball because that is the sport he has the best chance of getting a scholarship in. Can’t blame the kid if he chooses not to play.

He's not getting a college basketball scholly any time soon. Unless he's 6'4 by his senior year. Isn't he about 6'1- 6'2? In football in college,,,that I could see at some level. I wish the kid nothing but the best, and I hope he doesn't sit out football to just concentrate on one sport. I could see a kid like him playing at an Ashland Univ in football,,,but I really don't see him as a basketball player at that level unless he grows or somehow develops much better guard skills required to play in college,,even at D2 or NAIA. Just my opinion anyway.

You must be watching the boxscores instead of the games because he is one of those kids that is smooth and a tough match up for many, will be a breakout year for him in basketball this year (remember, he was only a sophomore last year). I would say lb for lb, best athlete on that basketball team.

If you want to play in college at 6'3 or below you have to be ELITE in some area of the game. 40% plus from 3pt line in competition. Elite ball handling skills and able to distribute and create for others at a high level. Elite scoring ability in high school.(with Willard's schedule that would mean 20pts/game) LOCK-UP defender who can guard the PG, SG and maybe even a small forward in college.

Get an ACT score of 26 and above. Focus on that. Better chance to get money that way! Get a 30 and colleges will be banging down your door offering $$$$

I'm going to say he is 6'3" and still growing. I can see him hitting 6'4"+. He'll be averaging 20+ by the time he is a senior. He is a lock up defender, best on the team, hands down. He'd be a good small forward in college.

I would imagine we could find some past Willard players who scored that but did not get a scholly. Also, he would need to be a lock-up defender on the college team. Nobody cares if he is the best Willard has.

Out of one side of your mouth you are saying no way he is good enough to get a scholarship and the other, I wish him only the best. Didn't somewhere you mention another player of the same stature that you thought was easily a DI-DII prospect. What gives there?

I read buckeye completely different. If the kid does get a DI or DII scholarship I would bet buckeyekid would be the 1st to congratulate him. He is a Willard supporter thru and thru. I know I look at the past Willard players who had offers and they were more advanced than he is now. Maybe he will really take off this this year and you'll be dead right. For the kid's sake I hope he does. One question I have and I could probably research the answer but not into it atm.....has Willard ever had a scholarship player that didn't score 1000 points? What would he need to average in his next 2 years to hit that mark?

What I said TC was--" I thought Cooper Parrott was easily a D2 and possibly a mid major D1 football QB IMO." Basketball I really don't know what he has for offers. He put on his Twitter he's been offered by a couple schools in football,,one being Urbana who is D2 and the other Sienna Heights who is NAIA.
Regarding MP,,,he's a very nice athlete. I'm cheering for him regardless,,I'm just not sure if I was a betting man that he would be a College Basketball Scholarship athlete. I hope he does, that'd be great,,but at 6'2 and really not a shooter or a PG,,,where's he going to play in College as a Scholarship player. At 6'4 and hopefully a better shooter,,now you are getting somewhere. I hope he makes it into college in one or the other. I wanna see our WHS athletes succeed in whatever they do. I hope he ends up 6'6",,then he'd certainly be a college level hoopster.

I hope MP gets a scholarships and BK and all his infinite wisdom laughed at the fact that i said he would. Talk about favoritism and bandwagoning, you both win the gold star today.

Why are we not hearing more about the football program. I can see everything going on with Norwalk and our formers coach's program. I dont know if we had or will have a camp. There is radio silence on social media. With the desperate need for numbers you would think we would be marketing the heck out of the program. If you are on the fence about going out my guess is you wont.

truecrimson, I've had numerous people tell me you were nuts over the years and my response always has been I can't comment because I don't him personally. They might have been on the right track. You make it sound like BK and myself are rooting against the kid. Shoot I hope the kid goes straight to the NBA when they change the rules back to HS eligible next year.

I'm hearing light numbers going out at present, which is unfortunate. I hope those who can go out for football and contribute, chose to do so. You only get one chance to participate in HS sports. It's a 3-4 year window and then most are done with their athletic careers and are left to "talk" about HS sports rather than "play" ---For the rest of their lives. I hope they take advantage of every opportunity. I personally would give anything to play another season of football, and I played 4 in HS and 4 in College. The opportunity to be on a team and all the great friendships and experiences that go with it. The togetherness, and the struggle of practice and then the Friday Night and Saturday Game days were the reward. The Homecoming games and pep rallies and wearing your jersey to school---all that stuff was so fun. Two a days sucked, but you know what--they made you stronger and tougher minded kids. To each his own, and I get that,,,It's not for everyone and I realize that. Wasted opportunity and the regrets that go with it really stink as you grow from being a kid to an adult.

Yes, I think there was 9 teams. I heard Triway didn't show and everyone played 6 or 7 games for 20 minutes each. Willard looked better then thought but probably only won 1 or 2. Still won't win many regular season games. Elida was by far the best team, most others were the same caliber.

That's unfortunate. I hope they change their minds. But if not,,it's their call obviously,,I just hope they don't look back and regret their decisions. I wish them all the luck in the world,,and look forward to following them on the court this winter.

This will be a tough year on this coaching staff because they were dealt a tough hand right out of the gate with the previous coach bailing last second. Players going both ways an entire year will be a challenge.

Hate to say it but Willard should seriously think about what smcc is talking about. Or play 8 man ball. Very sad to say. They will probably have to play freshman and with the schedule it's going to be hard to finish a season. At some point the administration needs to look out for the safety of the ones willing to play.

If they don't The blame is squarely on the parents and kids. Beautiful field, and what I think is a legit coaching staff in place . When parents transfer their kids locally, or kids don't go out for this reason or that after "starting" as a Freshman and Soph,,,there's nothing the higher ups or coaches can do. Only so many kids in the school.

Only so many kids in the school. I have to disagree and so sick of people saying it is all kids and parents. The program has been declining for quite a few years and it isn't all on the kids and parents, the admin and coaches have to take some of the blame here. I agree, the new coach and the assistants he has brought in are energized and know what they are doing. Problem is, they get here 6 weeks late because the outgoing coach had his own agenda and could have cared less about the future success of this program and did not build a proper foundation from Thunderbolts up. I like this new coach and have spoken to him a few times. It will take him a few years to get the numbers back up but running a well structured program from the top to the bottom is the recipe for success and I think he realizes this. Blaming the kids and parents, enough already.
