So I just saw that Coach V. is done at Ashland. Heck of a run for him. I’m not sure if most know what Ashland football was like before him but it wasn’t good. He will be greatly missed.

Hard to believe how quickly time goes by and my thoughts start to turn to Friday night football. I can't really vote on a preseason favorite because I don't know much about returning talent across the conference. Wooster has lost some important talent but also as a few starters returning. I think it will be a bit of a rebuilding year for them.

Wooster is also looking for a new Athletic Director.

He could have had a longer run and turned it around sooner. The first time he applied he was turned down for not having any head coaching experience. He was head coach at Ontario for 5 years I think it was, reapplied and was hired.

The Tygers should win with the athletes in the class of 2020.
Grose commits to Cinn Caudill holds a lot of offers most notably LSU Hawkins has several, the latest being Kent St. 3 others have offers from D 2 schools.

May I ask, with this talent, why .500 this past season? Hard to imagine. They did not beat one team that finished with a winning record and lost by over 2 tds in all their losses. They changed QBs in mid season but already had 3 losses by then.

I don’t see Lexington or Madison being very good this year. I believe the League will go to either Mansfield, Wooster or West Holmes.

I think the wild card team this year is Lexington. They bring back a good group, but new coach and you lose the best player ever to come through your school, I could see them being solid or really bad. West Holmes lost a ton. They had 11 guys on the all conference team and they were all seniors. Wooster also lost a lot but they have gotten to the point where they just reload. I still belive talent wise Mansfield on paper is the best team in the OCC, but can they produce it on Friday nights.

Lex will have a heck of a running back in muscular Alex Green. The 2nd fastest time in the DI 100 meters. DivI college football schools are interested, after seeing him at the State Track Meet.

Lexington returns a large amount of players who saw plenty of playing time last season. The new faces at QB, head coach and every position that Cade Stover played will be areas of adjustment. Mansfield as the early season favorite makes sense with all of the college talent they have this year. Wooster is becoming consistent every year. Heavy weight on the new Ashland Coach. Been given the interim tag for the next 6 months. Having a veteran QB should be a big help.

.
1. Mansfield= On paper the Tygers look like the best team by far. Also the Tygers get 1st all OCC RB Terrance Flickinger back this season after sitting out last season with a injured knee.
2. Wooster= Returns just as much as Lexington and has a better built program. I’ll say the Generals will be OCC runner up.
3. Ashland= Even with a new Coach I think Ashland still has a solid program and should finish in the top half of the OCC.
4. Lexington= yes Big Lex returns Green and Berry and a couple others. However they Lose Stover, Aiello and Depperschmidt. Take those three away from last years team and Lexington would have been anything. Also Lex struggles with numbers. I just don’t see them finishing above 4th place in the OCC.
5.West Holmes= they lose more then I first realized and that’s why I have them 5th in the OCC. I Could see them getting as high as 4th but that’s about it for a team that seems to have lost 90% of their Team.
6. Mount Vernon= not much to say about them. I watched them against Lex last year and they were very small and just not good. They get 6th place because Madison is terrible. 7. Madison= it’s pains me to say this but they are terrible. Madison hired a terrible coach. There’s a reason Elyria Catholic wanted him gone. He’s very good with kids but that’s about it. I think Madison is in for a couple rough years.

Those are probably above average assessments. I think Mansfield could be anywhere 1-3. Wooster 1 or 2. Ashland 1-3. Lexington 4-6. West Holmes 4-6. Mt Vernon 5-6. Madison 7

I will wait and see who it is, but there where several coaches on the staff that had been on for a very long time, and probably saw this as an opportunity to move on. My guess is most of the staff will still be there. I also expect Ashland to continue to be a solid program.

I see Ashland keeping pace this year with where they have been.

Congratulations to Angelo Grose on committing to Michigan State. He de-committed from Cinn after receiving offers from MSU and Iowa. Having a committed Big 10 athlete on the roster along side of all the other athletes with college offers should make this years Mansfield team the favorite in the OCC.

I think Mansfield biggest question on offense is their Olins. On Defense I think it’s their secondary. Other then Grose what else do they have back there?

I believe they return three seniors all going to be 4 year starters, with over 85 combined starts ... if that’s a weakness then I’m sure most coaches in the area would like to have it haha

In recent years the Mansfield problem seems to be getting the team to play consistent ball together. Lots of talent but to much interest in the individual highlight film. And with all the success their coach has had in getting players college offers, the idea of "MY TIME" has grown.
