In addition to Alsip, what do they have coming back/coming up?

In addition to Alsip, what do they have coming back/coming up? Not much. Varsity- 8 wins, JV-8, F-1, 8th-0, 7th-3 Whoever they hire is going to have their work cut out for them getting the program rebuilt to where it was. I know the program was never anything special, but right now it's even worse then it's normally been.

I'll be surprised if Alsip doesn't move to Willard. They made it happen for the best player Crestline has had in decades. Valentine would make a good assistant coach for Willard, as his Freshman Varsity player son would come with him.

Lucas had 3 coaches in 3 years before Gossom took the job and had won 4 games the year before and 2 games the yer after. Your information says more about the talent than it does the coaching. Todd Krill took Lucas to regionals two years in a row but then 2 years later won 4 games.

Just stating facts. I don't know about the talent he had but back to back winless teams is not a good look. They're the only winless seasons Lucas has ever had.

The 4 wins were also with two 4 year varsity players on the floor. So 4 wins with a very veteran crew. The next guy had some new faces. The year after was with a team that had multiple kids who had been learning the years before and then had their junior and senior seasons under a new coach for 2 wins. I'm agreeing that winless is winless but talent makes every coach better. But maybe you are right, Gossom is the worst coach in history of Lucas basketball

Dude know more about Lucas basketball coaches than he does about Lex basketball coaches. He knows more about basketball coaches at every school in a 5 county area than those who live in the communities. I still say he sells janitorial supplies and gets his info from school janitors who REALLY know what goes on in the sports programs.

I was trying to add a little humor but forgot the smile face. Facts are great but sometimes they do not tell the whole story. I only threw his name out because he works in the school and he has coached before. I looked up the records after they were posted. No team ever wins without talent and even bad coaching can win some games if there is talent.

The application deadline has come and gone as well as April in a few hours. Any ideas to who may have applied for this job?

8th grade coach, Hart, also applied. Does he have experience other than Galion 8th grade? I ask, knowing the previous guy was a rec coach before his hire.

Apparently Galion is deciding between Troy Keene and Randy Endsley Jr.

For what it’s worth, Endsley teaches and is head boys coach at Black River. Keene coaches or at least has coached at Plymouth.

^ Both have horrible coaching records and the one was terminated for cause as an AD at Fredericktown. Not sure why Galion would even consider these two coaches when they had other candidates apply that were close to the program that were well respected by the kids. From what I heard, there are 4-5 kids who will not be going out this year! Valentine is supposedly building a house now in Crawford district so his kid can play there. So you can read between the lines on that one (fired or quit).

He has certainly benefited from a lot of transfers or move ins! However, I think this is more of Valentine being let go by Galion and there being some issues there. You don't just step down as head coach when your son is a sophomore. More to it than that. If he had genuinely stepped down due to "more responsibility at work".... then he would not be moving his kid to another team. He's working the same job he had when he took the basketball coaching position.

How reliable is your information about kids not playing and Valentine moving to Crawford? I'm not doubting you, I just haven't heard this yet.

The AD is a joke! His big hires for FB and basketball have been laughable. I heard from a player's dad that the kids are upset that an outsider got the job (The frosh coach seemed to be very well liked) and the program is dead right now. I spoke to a couple players as well and they were wanting the Frosh coach. Heard from two pretty reliable sources that Valentine is moving to CC. Both said "they are building a house in Crawford district"... Valentine player will need to toughen up to play for Sheldon! JV at best for now.
Time will tell.

You do realize that even IF he is building a house in the Crawford district his kids can still open enroll back to Galion right?
