With football lifting well under way for area teams, it's time to sit and break down the 2019 Huron Tigers, the Pride of Huron.
The Tigers look to build on their 2018 Playoff appearance, their first since 2015. They bring back a majority of their best players, and will be aided by the addition of some key newcomers. On Offense, the Tigers will start QB Joey Brown, who many people at the Donut Shop thought should have been the starter last year. He will bring a tough, running style approach. Paul Hinckley will be back at running back, after sitting out last year due to Hepatitis. Drew Wennes is a lengthy big play threat on the outside. Another key addition is new Offensive Line Coach Jake Strayer. Strayer comes over from Bellevue. He brings his expertise on the line and for kicking extra points.
The Tigers have a tough non-conference schedule this year, maybe the toughest in the area. They take on Norwalk and Genoa. Two tough games.
I look for the Tigers to finish somewhere around 8-2/7-3, win the Bay, and win the State Title.
Go Tigers

Huron is going to be tough this year, Jake Strayer will make this years lineman better than ever. I like Hinckley coming back but I think they still need a game changer. I hope someone can emerge as the leader. My son Pickett is still in the woods, smoking woods, shooting birds but he will be out and will be hitting the weights soon

Hinckley is transferring back from Margaretta? Better call Dump's therapist.
Joey Brown couldn't catch a cold, which is saying something after Knuckleheads was nearly condemned from that weasel flu outbreak last year.

That Dump boy sure has a hard-one for Jake Strayer. That's the 2nd time that he's called his name in one of his fantasies. Mancrush much?
But that picture of TD Truckers forehead takes the cake. That's either a bromance gone wrong or stalking?

A lot of deflection going on in the responses to my post. Seems no one wants to recognize how dangerous the Tigers will be this year. As for Strayer, yes, I do have a hard-on for him and the way he gets the most of the kids. If only we could have him suit up and go out there and kick extra points! Will be a game changer on the side lines this year.

I think Huron will have another winning season, Losing big to Norwalk, And Genoa. 2-3 more losses between Port Clinton, Oak Harbor, Toledo Waite, or Willard. Should be able to beat Cleveland East Tech, Edison, Perkins, Vermilion. 6-4, 5-5 another great season.

Until proven otherwise Genoa just reloads every year. PC’s upset of Geno in 2014 is still one of my favorite memories. Genoa destroyed us 82-14 the year before. The last thing they were expecting was us to roll into Genoa and not roll over and die.

Why is it some Tiger fans are assuming blowout loss to Norwalk? Given the history, I won't assume anything until we prove otherwise. Upgrade in talent, coaching, and 8 year break could be what the doctor ordered, though, for Truckers.

After further review, Mark May may have learned the art of sandbagging considering he hung out with Lou Holtz for quite a few years.

Mark May is a well known bandwagon Tiger fan. Wait until the boys are 8-2 with a home playoff game and he will claim that he predicted that all along. I don’t expect the Tigers to get blown out by Genoa, and especially not Norwalk. I think they will beat Norwalk. I could see losses against OH and Genoa but we could win those as well. I don’t think anyone on the schedule has a better player than Paul Hinckley.

Not sure the stats but Huron has to have something like 5-10 straight victory’s against Norwalk. They have not beat the Tigers one time since 2000. Maybe once or twice before my days but can’t be more than that. It got so bad they dropped us from the schedule. Expect that trend to continue.

If I'm not mistaken, 1988 was last time Norwalk defeated Huron.

Haven't been on the forum for a while due to a busy schedule at work. The cheeks industry really picks up this time of year. On a football note, Dump is spot on as usual with his analysis of the Tigers. Hinckley and Brown have both had a strong off season in the weight room I look for Huron to be a playoff team and a state title favorite. Tigers have a lot of length and size on the O line could be a serious problem for opposing teams. Can't express enough how big of an addition jake strayer has been, plus he buys coffee for the girls. Stand up guy.

Tigers have a good wide out transfer named Archie Notstik. Tall, long, athletic too. Definitely a bit slow but this kid is 6'8. No tape on the guy but from what I've heard, he is tough to get ahold of too. Disease free and healthy. Could be what pushes the tigers to a championship, not only in football but basketball too. Should be an interesting season with Brown, Hinckley, and Strayer. I'll give em a 9-1 prediction with a loss to Genoa and an upset on Norwalk.
Go tigers. Go Browns.

They are hungry for some meat (wins) just gotta make sure the zookeeper's (refs) don't make it difficult to get their meals in. Go tigers. Go Browns.
