Haven't heard anything about Mock and Weirs. Are they playing this year or in football right now? I thought the Mock kid played varsity last year. Good to hear about the paxton kid, need a 4-5th scorer with kids graduating. I think he'll have to average 10-12 this year for them to have some success. if Parrot averaged 22-23, Baldridge 18-19, Myles 14-15, and player 4 and 5, 10 each that would add up to a lot of wins. I'm sticking with my 14 wins because I'm not sure the 3-5 can average that night in and night out. This would be a very tough task to get your starting 5 to average over 70 points a game. Last seasons regional team didn't average 70 points all together, Getting your starting 5 to do it would be extremely impressive.

I was thinking the same thing, 60+ points per game will win you alot of high school basketball games, provided you play solid defense.

Last season your regional Flashes went over 59 points 15 times and won 14 of them.

I thought the talk at the end of last season was that Willard's defense scheme needed improving more than their offense.

I thought the talk at the end of last season was that Willard's defense scheme needed improving more than their offense. Maybe against Coldwater it was :-) For a good portion of the year their defense was actually good. The two guys plugging up the middle, Baldridge and Tripplet, and when the holida kid came in off the bench he could jump out of the gym, so he helped a lot too. They have some kids that can step into these positions and do well but we lost a lot in the middle and with polacheks get out and go personality.

Without Tripplet and Polacek, can the 1-3-1 be as effective?

Willard will find it tough to replace what Triplett gave them. He is a special athlete and was a very good rim protector.

Just not possible to replace him, especially the rim protection and intimidation factor, but we can replace the point production and rebounding, we are going to be a different team offensively, no more high/low with the 2 post players, alot more running shooters off screens for 17 footers, alot of feeding Baldridge the ball at the foul line/high post, he's an extremely difficult match up for anyone in the area inside 15 feet, certainly Parrott, Pinkston, and Baldridge will be starters, the uncertainty will be the consistency of the other 2 starters and bench, are they ready to contribute every night, the only one who saw sufficient minutes on Varsity last year was Dawson, If this Spring is any indication, I think they will be ready.

Since there are so many Willard posters on this page I wonder if you could answer why Nick Dials stepped down at Urbana? Did he go to another job or just had enough?

Not sure but 10-44 over two years is a tough start. I would have hoped he was given some time to get his own recruits in and you would start seeing them after year 2 in the program. Maybe he was given another opportunity elsewhere but I haven't heard. He is a good kid and hope all is well with him and the situation.
