Does anyone have insight on what is going on with the renovations. The last I heard enough donors had stepped up to complete the three phases, but two of the board members are obstructing it. It took one weekend to completely tear out the visitor side bleachers and there has yet to be movement on the new ones. At this rate, it looks like we will see a repeat of the embarrassing situation with the home bleachers two years ago. The facility is shameful considering every one of Norwalk's opponents and unacceptable when taking into account the generosity of the community and the partnership between the two schools. Not interested in spreading rumors if the two names I was given are simply rhetoric. So I am asking if anyone knows what is really going on?

If they need to pour a pad or any type of concrete for this it will be dicey with the weather.

Players, coaches and parents from both schools made short work of the visitors stands, saving the schools a lot of money in demo costs. The pad was kept intact and looks fairly decent, but I do not know if they plan to replace it. From what I heard, the parking lot, and stands were supposed to be complete by the start of the season with the possibility of turf this year depending on how fast the board got its act together. This late in the game, I would imagine turf is out of the question this year and the stands will be the only concern once the money is freed up for construction. Buckeye central was in a similar situation this time last year with their stands and I believe they were complete by the first home game. IDK, hope they get the ball rolling soon.

I didn't think Turf was likely this season; next year at the earliest. As far as Visiting Section, we were hoping everyone just sit on home side, and root on the Truckers and Flyers.

parking lot and bleachers will be paid for by the norwalk city school district and will be completed before the start of the season. the turf needs to be a project done between the two schools. norwalk athletic boosters committed their share of the project, sp could did not come up with their half, so turf will not happen this season.

Why are St.Paul and Norwalk not jointly raising the money? Seems ludacris not to combine resources instead of trying a two prong aproach. Unless the public/private combo prohibits a 501c from being formed for the effort.

I was part of a conversation with a St. Paul and Norwalk employee who are both in the know (or at least I thought) and they seem to have been in agreement at that point in time that Norwalk was the one pissing on the wheels of progress. Not discounting what you’re saying, just reporting what I heard. Either way it’s long overdue.

you need to talk to somebody that knows the real story. norwalk has the money already. sp was relying on some big contribution from a car dealership that fell through. thrill34 is one of the sp guys on here and he can confirm it.

Why do they feel the need to do this as two separate schools raising money? It’s far easier and faster to make one combined effort at making it work. Seems as though Norwalk and St.Paul are making this more difficult than it actually needs to be.

That is too bad if they are not working together and that is the delay, I have also wondered why, now that the coaches of both schools are friends, there is no talk of a friendly scrimmage between Norwalk and St. Paul. This should be a yearly event in August and could serve as a decent little fundraiser. Maybe even foster a little comradery between the admins to start working together if that's not happening now.

Just like Sandusky & SMCC have worked so well together in the past. I think SMCC get's to play on Strobel for next to nothing. And did minimal fund raising?

So tapregrah your telling me if St. Mary's didn't have a relationship with Kinzel Cedar Point would've never donated that money? Come on man! Here is the story from 2010 when Sandusky did it. www.sanduskyregister.com/story/201012050001I can't believe with all the business in Norwalk that they can't come up with the money. I'm sure they will in time though.

The Whitney Field Improvement Committee includes representatives from both schools, as well as community members. We are very fortunate in Norwalk to have so many businesses/individuals that are willing to step in and donate/reduce rate services to help get many of these jobs completed.
Coon's Concrete is at Whitney today extending the pad for the visitors' bleachers. There were crews working in the parking lot earlier this week.
To my knowledge, turf was originally in phase I of this multi-phase project, with bleachers & parking lot issues needing to be addressed immediately. Phase I may not be finished until next season, but it is promising to see the work already accomplished!
Phases 2 (track) & 3 (drainage & walkways) will take place at later dates.
There are several articles (and photos of today's concrete pouring) in the Norwalk Reflector.

Anyone know what the holdup is? Other than the additional concrete pad poured it looks like a little progress is happening down at Whitney. While 18 days is enough time to get the bleachers and lot done, why wait till the last minute?

At this rate, my money is on portable bleachers for the visiting side this season. The "extra parking" and some of the existing parking has dirt and asphalt grindings piled up on it. Very disappointing but certainly not new for Norwalk. Just 18 days from the first game there and the facility is worse than it was before they started "improving it."

I guess I did forget to mention, they did have a paver sitting in the parking lot today. I just thought both projects would have been completed by now, considering the money was voted on/made available back in MARCH and there is a season fast approaching. IDK maybe I’m asking for too much.
