Losing great players happens every year in top programs. Not so with coordinators. Everyone knew Indiana would be throwing on almost every play after going down 35-7 in the 2nd half. AND they were terrible at running in the first half, when the game was closer. With that being said, cn you explain why there were 3 LBs on the field in the 2nd half for most plays? Why not a lot of D-line stunts to put more pressure on their QB, instead of staying in their lanes to stop the run? Heck MAKE them want to run the ball. Looked like Indiana used much more ingenuity to pressure Fields. Why is Shaun Wade a much different player this year. It all points to coaching, the biggest "change" this year. Yes I can explain why they use 3 LB’s. Werner defends the TE, which Indiana uses on every play Shaun Wade is playing the boundary this year, not the slot. Two completely different positions. And lastly you don’t use stunts because they free up running lanes for the qb if you don’t get to the qb

You present some very good questions. Indiana had minus rushing yardage for the game. Why respect their running game? Didn't seem too many blitz packages and why not an extra DB to double cover the receiver that was killing us? My previous point was, our late game, offensive approach kept our defense on the field and inordinate amount of time and gave Indiana more opportunity to attempt a comeback. Ryan Day and his assistants is a great coaching staff, for certain, but I'm guessing they are asking themselves these very same things, post game. Still think Shaun Wade can be much more effective at his natural, safety position. It is what it is and we won the game, but our staff will probably learn from this moving forward.

When you know a team is going to pass on almost every play, it's better to have one less LB and one more DB on the field. It's called a nickel package. ALL teams have them. DUH, Werner would not be the LB replaced by a DB in a nickel. Should Wade be playing the boundary this year? I know his father wants him to for his draft resume, but is that what's best for the team, since he was an outstanding slot corner last year? DOUBLE DUH!! Would it not be better for Indiana to run the ball instead of passing? As a D-coordinator, do everything in your power to make them run the ball instead of passing the ball. They are a lousy running team and a very good passing team.

Ohio State’s biggest issue is taking their foot off the gas at halftime. They did the same thing against Rutgers ad that game was too close. The secondary isn’t what we are used to seeing, nor is the DL. The running game is lacking also. Which makes it even more important to take advantage of the playmakers at receiver as well as Fields. The defense will take some patience.

Also my guess is Wade is probably a better boundary corner than anyone else Ohio St has. If you don’t like it start cheering for Michigan. They acted like they won the super bowl when beating Rutgers. Buckeyes beat the 9th ranked team in the country. If the name was Wisconsin, Michigan or Penn St next to that 9 none of you would be complaining

Nobody?? Another lie. It's in Webster's and Oxford's. In neither is it described as archaic. Peruse and become learned. Nobody knows less about the Ohio State roster than you. Is the current slot corner the best slot corner in the country as Wade was last year? Move Wade back to slot corner and have the best player again in the country at one of the DB positions. Right now none are above average. There is no excuse for giving up 28 unanswered points in the second half and winning by 1 TD after being up by 4. Regardless of who the opponent is.
Who is Ryan Day kidding. TEN defensive starters were named "Star Of The Game".
