With Steffan gone this could be a tough transition into the new season He will be tough to replace. The Crew still have one of my favorite players in Gyasi Zardes.

Columbus 3 Cincinnati 0.
The Crew have won the preseason Carolina Challenge Cup for the 3rd straight year.
Regular season kicks off March 2 against the New York Red Bulls. The game will be on Fox Sports Ohio, which is once again the TV home of the Crew, as Precourt's sabotage deal with Spectrum Sports is no more.

The Crew's first win of the year comes on the turf at Gillette Stadium, 2-0 over NER.
Great first goal by Zardes, which I of course missed seeing live as I was flipping back and forth to the AAF game. Though I did get to see his 2nd goal which sealed it in stoppage time.

Always good to see Gyasi do well. He'll always be one of my favorites. Galaxy got handled today by Dallas, 2-0. Zlatan and Alessandrini were both out.

If you don't have ESPN+ I highly suggest doing so. The MLS coverage is great, access to everygame a great weekly review show and a very well done 10 part series on LAFC. Must have for a soccer fan, especially with all the other league's games they have a right to.

First home win of the year, as the Crew get an early goal off a corner kick and hold on 1-0 over FC Dallas.

The Galaxy played a great match last night, without Zlatan or Alessandrini, beating Minnesota United, 3-2. LLetget played with a broken nose that he got in training. He had one of those masks on to protect his nose, but took it off in the first minute of the match, and played the entire rest of the match without it on, and scored a goal. Jonathan Dos Santos and Chris Pontius also scored for LA.

Columbus 2, defending champs Atlanta 0
When I started watching it was already 2-0, and there had already been a 55 minute severe weather delay. What I watched was the part where the field was completely drenched with rain still pouring down. It was pretty funny watching the ball come to an abrupt stop way shorter than normal anytime it was attempted to be moved across the ground, with players overrunning it all the time. At one point they nearly called the game, but they ended up playing the whole thing. As soon as the clock hit 90 the ref blew the final whistle and the players all immediately ran off the field in less than a minute.

Chicago Fire thinking of possible name change and move to Soldier Field

Crew beat New England tonight 1-0. Chicago Fire thinking of possible name change and move to Soldier Field Interesting, wonder how that will work out. I once read a very detailed article that broke down just how crazy the Fire's stadium lease with the Village of Bridgeview is. It's so one sided that even if the Fire folded the next MLS team to play within x miles of Chicago would be contractually obligated to play at SeatGeek Stadium (which makes a little more sense when you consider the single entity structure of MLS.) As it stands now, the Fire/MLS can't do anything unless they can work out a deal to get out of this lease.

My understanding is they are going to buyout the remaining lease and change the name to "Chicago City FC". They are at the bottom of the league this year in attendance. The Crew aren't much higher up...
