I know it's a little early to start the basketball conversation so I know this may not get a lot of replies right away but I wanted to give people the option to start talking basketball whenever they're ready.
This is Jonathan Alder's last year in the conference and they should be the clear favorite to win it. Pleasant, Buckeye Valley, Harding will be competing for spots 2-4. North Union and unfortunately Galion, will probably be the bottom 2 in the conference this year. River Valley should be competitive but losing Hempy is going to really hurt them.
Thoughts?

I would think that Harding would begin battling for this title on a regular basis. Going 10-4 and 11-3 in the last 2 seasons.

Harding will be at the top for sure. They lost Longstreth but they had pretty good jv and freshmen teams last year so they should continue to be at the top. I just think a Alder is clearly the best this year. Just my opinion.

You are probably correct, I just think Harding at some point, with all those students, will begin to pay off for them in the money sports playing against the smaller schools.

Not so fast my friend! Harding is the favorite. Ellis is a sharpshooter and sayre can hit spot 3's all day long. With Pugh going to northwestern early and not playing basketball this winter I think Harding wins this year. Starner, Keller, sayre,Ellis have all been good varsity players since sophomore year. I'm rolling with Harding number 1 then pleasant at 2 then JA at 3 RV 4 North union 5 Galion 6 losing Blair will hurt they have nobody this year

I did not know that about Pugh. Is that true? If so that will definitely change things... I believe that Galion will be ahead of North Union. We beat them at every level last year. They do not have much either. It's still bad but at least it's not last place, hopefully, haha.

Yes I saw on the official northwestern twitter page a story about Pugh and him enrolling early... will change a lot like you said

I'm taking Harding, pleasant and JA too 3. Bv has been good. Not sure if they return a lot or what they return. Harding probably has moac POY in Ellis, I wonder if rv can do much without Hempy. Galion lost Blair and that other kid I forget his name. NU should be torward bottom with Fairbanks.

They have been the most consistent team in the red the last 7-8 years.

Buckeye Valley will finish ahead of RV. Without Pugh you guys may be right about Alder but I still think they will be able to compete for the top spot. Galion did not just lose Blair, they lost everyone. We graduated 7 seniors. The only full time varsity player returning is galiontigers son, Chase Cooke. That means we will have to use players from our JV team that won I think 7 games last year. There will probably be at least 2 sophomores and 1 freshman on varsity. And the freshman will be the starting PG.

It'll be interesting how it falls out. Same with football. But this week will tell that. Looking forward to moac baseball as well. Top batter moved to Harding I believe. Wonder how it'll play out

Pleasant will struggle with having to replace Sansotta. Joe Craycraft will have to step up big time for Pleasant to have success this year.
1. Harding 2. BV 3. JA 4. Pleasant 5. RV 6. Galion 7. North Union

JA and possibly Pleasant will finish above BV. I think there will be good battle between Harding, JA, and Pleasant for the top spot. I had to change my mind after finding out Pugh is not playing.

Hard place to win at, at BV.

I'll reserve making any predictions about BV until I know who goes out. They obviously lose a lot from last years team. They should have more overall size this year, but it will be a lot of unproven talent. How their younger kids develop and how quickly will determine how good they can be. That, and how quickly and good their leadership develops will make or break their season. Ironically, that would mirror the concerns I had for their football team. The difference between the two though is I would have much more confidence in the basketball staff than the football staff. That's why I would say they'll always be in the mix. That, and as some of you have already said, their student section creates a tremendous home court advantage.

My take on league this year. 4 teams bring back guys who can fill it up. Ellis and Starner at MH. Craycraft, PL. Wallace, RV. Koenig, JA. Watched BV all summer. Don't have a true scorer. NU has Ronnie, game hasn't changed. 1) MH 2)PL 3) JA 4) BV 5)RV 6) GL 7) NU. No Pugh hurts JA big time, plus heard his brother in Caly going to prep school and will be back maybe next year. PL had a strong JV squad last year so I see them pushing MH.

I think it's going to be Ellis from MH or Craycraft from Pleasant

I think it's Ellis from MH definitely best shooter can do it all. Depends on how much he scores vs how much he's dishing it.

I was wondering how hempy from rv went d3. I thought he was a d1 prospect forsure. He had better stars then most d1 players out of Ohio

Hempy went after a full ride and the chance to play now and win now. Most the D1 schools recruiting him were bad teams from what I heard.
