Galion's coach was informed over the summer that they would not be renewing his contract after this year. It's due to a new rule that would require the school to pay him overtime when he coaches since he is a school employee that gets paid hourly. Strange rule but at least he gets to go out bringing his team to state.

Many school employees are hourly but coaching is a supplemental contract that is defined for a specific amount for a specific period. Coaching is not an hourly position.

I understand but this is what they they said. I 100% believe you, but it still makes very little sense. Who is they? Basically they are saying any nonteaching employee cannot coach. Or maybe they just don't want a custodian coaching.

They is the board member I talked to and the coach. They said that an hourly district employee cannot sign a supplemental contract with the district they work for. Instead they must be paid overtime. We have another custodian that is coaching at Northmor, so it doesn't affect him. I'm not sure what the thinking is behind this rule. It seems pointless to me but this is what I was told.... They had the contract posted on their BOE minutes. It basically said that he had to keep track of his hours coached and that it was a one year situation and that he would not be retained after the season. I'll see if I can find it again.

Galion finishes a very respectable 6th out of 12 teams at state. With I believe only 1 senior on the team the sky is the limit for next season.

If there is an MOAC All-Sports trophy, the fall sports have gotten Galion off to a strong start.

I read an article that Sleepy Hollow has closed and is now an RV park. Anyone know where Bellevue and maybe Margaretta will play home golf matches in the Fall? I always thought the SH greens gave Bellevue a little home course advantage.
