Fantastic50 can burn in Hades. Stop the Perkins hate now. The Pirate ships are aligning and it’s only the beginning of what’s coming. The ship sank like the Titanic! Pirates25 may have been on that boat too.

Fantastic50 is pathetic. Van Wert #2 in DIV? That’s embarrassing, they run up the score vs non athletic, technically poor competition. They were still throwing the ball with all the starters in up 70-41 on St Mary’s with 3 minutes left. They’ll get what they have coming Friday, then they can post an obscenity-laced vlog on YouTube about that 😉 Van Wert proves again it's dominance against the SBC Lake!! VW has beaten Bellevue, Clyde, and now Perkins! Only if they faced real competition like the Toledo City League or the SBC Lake (who all are eliminated btw)!!!
Van Wert got what they had coming, and that's watching Perkins embarrassing special teams! Anything but special! You'll have time to watch another VW youtube video while Perkins is turning in equipment!

Did I say I had a problem with anyone? Nope. Asked for reasons, but since very few people on here can produce anything but cliches and gut feelings, you get your panties in a bunch. Have you seen either in person? Break down this matchup please, let me know who wins and why? Otherwise, STFU. I always look forward to your approach of “you picked against my Pirates so now we have a problem”. Not every single person isn’t going to pick Perkins to win every game. Get over it My gut feeling is Van Wert will be playing next week and that the WBL >>> SBC Lake Oh wait, that happened!! My other gut feeling is that Perkins special teams are awful! Maybe you can spend the offseason working on blocking field goals?? Or maybe work on end of game clock management??

Since you stalk everything I say, make sure you’re there and I’ll be sure to capture yours as well. This definitely did not age well. My jaw is still attached to my face. We will see if big mouth shows up here to take his medicine. Big mouths are awfully quiet right now.

Read in the article that Santoro said Perkins played a lot of sophomores and freshmen this year. What freshmen played a lot? Collier is a sophomore, but what other sophs and frosh played meaningful varsity minutes?

Van Wert had to block a game winning field goal at the end, and yet, you all are acting like the Pirates were a push over. Yes, our special teams are terrible, but that cost us the game, not Van Wert's dominance. i wish them luck next week.

Some of those guys were All league.

Looking at the all league lists… Collier, Young, Bunts, Bolini, Diederich, Sturzinger are all Sophomores who receved league recognition.

I thought Perkins took advantage of a down SBC Lake year but they proved they a very good team this year, obviously. They did that all year, including vs EC and JFK. Almost pulling the win out vs VW is a tip of my cap. More of the same if not more next year, I’d assume.

That game was a hard fought battle. Even with the pirates poor special teams play, they were right there and in it until the last seconds. A few things however made me shake my head and before I sit here and act like I’m an X’s and O’s guy, I’m not but I know football at least.
1.) I noticed Van Wert made a second half adjustment in going to a 3-3-5 or a 3-2-6. Perkins still couldn’t get any push off that line and Leosch got no where running the ball. They couldn’t run it on the outside either because the linebackers knew it was a run and pinned their ears back and went to eat. When they did have success it was between the tackles and with their young RB.
2.) I know this isn’t college or the pro’s, but Perkins created a lot of predictability in their play calling. No play-action to keep the LB’s honest or to give the illusion and keep the defense on their toes. Towards the end of the game and almost on one pass play, Leosch was almost picked off because they obviously knew it was a pass play.
3.) I could be wrong but it didn’t seem like Perkins made any defensive adjustments and if they did it was insignificant to the overall game. Van Wert started doing a QB run outside the tackle and maybe we’re stopped once or twice for a short game. On the drive to tie the game Van Wert ran the same play at least three times in a row and Perkins just stayed in the same defensive formation. I was scratching my head after the second time wondering what the heck they were doing.
4.) IMO Perkins didn’t play their hot hand when it was hot. On their first drive of the game #8 was making Van Wert pay and they were giving him serious cushion while in the slot. One specific play (3rd down) Perkins ops for a QB run, when no one is anywhere near #8 in the slot. Several times they had mismatches and two safety’s off to the strong side leaving a WR on an island with a corner and nothing was thrown that way.
For me what it came down to was Van Wert was better coached and that showed. I believe Perkins was the more talented team, with a young team, but that wasn’t enough. Great season for the Pirates! The kids played hard and that’s why I enjoy still going to see high school playoff football.

The kids played hard and that’s why I enjoy still going to see high school playoff football. Most of Perkins offensive issues can be traced to their inability to consistently. It made them overly reliant on big plays which VW took away for the most part. I’m sure there is a reason why but I am surprised 13 never got a look at RB. Great athlete with good size even if he may not be a prototypical RB build.

There’s this new app called YouTube. It shows video of events that happen around the world. You just enter what you’re looking for in the search bar, and you get results. In this case, I entered “Van Wert football” and roughly 5-6 full games they’ve played this season are available for viewing on this application. I did some actual research on the topic I discussed on this board. Strange, I know most of you don’t/refuse to. Just gut feelings, cliches, name recognition, and results dating back to the 60s is the formula to pick a winner for most on here Since you’ve watched video of their games, what did their bleachers look like and how do they compare to area schools? Van Wert Eggerss stadium is a cement edifice that has a wall within a couple of feet of one end zone which makes things like fade routes at the GL almost impossible. I would give the nod to almost every SBC school in terms of stadiums although VW has renovations planned for the off season. BTW, I'm not being a smart alec, I'm from Sandusky originally and moved to the Lima area years ago and have seen all of the WBL and SBC teams play at their respective home fields. As far as SBC/WBL comparisons the leagues have very similar athletes, especially once the former NOL schools joined the SBC. Van Wert has had some fantastic skilled athletes come through over the last few years, whether they have another Pratt in the pipeline I do not know. Some of the schools border the MAC schools such as Wapak whose only loss is to Marion Local. As much as it pains me to say ML would probably win every SBC division going away, they occupy a parallel dimension. You must go into every WBL or MAC game sound in all three phases which apparently affected Perkins. VW lost their only game to a freak punt block which makes the FG block even more ironic. I have not been back up to the Sandusky area for the last three years so I cannot comment on the quality of coaching between the two leagues. I do know that Coach Recker of Van Wert was once an assistant at Ottawa-Glandorf which was the smallest school in the WBL during his time there yet they were always competitive in the conference and have made several deep playoff runs during the Ken Schriner era. Although they will break into the spread O-G has always been an off-tackle type of offense. Recker had some different ideas offensively and wound up getting the VW job. From what I have gleaned this was a game that involved a veteran VW team vs a young, explosive Perkins squad. For that reason I thought VW had the edge since they have played more meaningful playoff games in recent years than has Perkins. That being said I believe that Perkins could be hell on wheels for the next couple of years. West Holmes beats both squads, imo. Maybe Pratt and Recker can pull a rabbit out of their hat since they've done it before but I don't think so. Congrats to Perkins on a great year, but their best days lie ahead.

I posted on the Tiffin game and I will say the same. You can’t blame coaches when things don’t go your way .These kids have been coached to do the right thing on game day and sometimes it doesn’t happen the way it should and every fan is finger pointing at the coaches Every fan thinks they are a coach and that they should of done this instead of that. Well these are kids who have a long football season and some play with injuries throughout the yr especially at the end of the season . If any of you think you are a coach put in your Résumé and start coaching in flag football or help out in biddy then if you get better then ask to be moved up to Jr high . If your record then improves I’m sure the high school Coaches may want you up at their level. There is tons of work that goes with being a high school coach not just on Friday nights like many fans think. They put their time in day in and day out trying to make the kids better each and everyday for FRIDAY NIGHT. Not always does it go right for any team but it should in the fans eyes who are quick to point a finger. Kids will be kids and mess up a time or two .

Let’s be honest, this is the same guy giving us mathematical functions has a 3 acre yard he spends a fortune on to make sure he has no dandelions, has a PhD in ghost illumination, and was an all world football player at some point in time between 1910 and 1963. With that kind a résumé he’s easily not only the most knowledgeable but what we called the football world an expert.
