Coach Moore would get fined if here were an NBA coach for those quotes (LOL). Would love to hear what happened in the game to make him so frustrated with the refs. Can't say I've ever heard of a coach getting a T for a fan's actions. Did the fan interfere with play? Come on the court? If a fan was just mouthy or rude, I would assume just eject them. No T needed. I thought Willard could win 2 of 3 in this tough stretch. They went 1-2 dropping both the home games. a coach isn't responsible for his fans, so he should not get a technical for an unruly fan. like you said, eject the fan. refs apparently thought the fan was on staff. sounds like there might be more to the story than is printed in the paper? maybe?

Officials were not good but the technical was on a middle school coach who wasn’t directly on the bench but sat directly next to the scorers table. It looked like he was on the bench, because he was in the same row as coaches and players. I don’t know what he said but i don’t blame them for giving him a technical. There was one guy in particular who was awful, saw video of at least 3 awful calls that biddy officials wouldn’t mess up.

The “fan” was sitting in the first seat of the coach’s bench. Certainly he was presenting himself as a coach. If he wasn’t, why was he sitting there?

Would have been a good game to have a shot clock. Sandusky played stall ball for the last 4 minutes of the game.

based on everything, I’ve read about this so-called fan Technical with a person being on the bench essentially looking like he’s with the team and evidently making belligerent comments I think if I was the official, I would’ve called a Technical also.

Or refs shouldn’t be soft I had a parent tossed from a 7th grade game a few weeks ago....48 seconds into the game...for saying "wow, that's a travel" in kind of a laughing voice (and to be fair, it was beyond obvious right in front of the official). The official literally stopped the game, told the parent he wasn't allowed to say that stuff out loud and held the game up until the parent left the building. Last week, in another 7th grade game, we had an official call a charge. One of the book keepers kind of shook his head (didn't say anything). The official stopped the game, shouted at the book keeper that "it must have been your kid I called a charge on, don't undermine me and keep your mouth shut the rest of the game." The official then continued screw around. I asked if we could just move on and he T'd me up (mind you I was the coach of the team who TOOK the charge). Some of this has just become ridiculous. I've seen more T's in games this year than I have the previous 10 combined.

There are too many people getting games at levels they aren't ready for and it's just going to continue. AD's are pulling from thin pickings and I don't see an end to it any time soon.

What it is sometimes the refs want to make the game about them and call unnecessary technical fouls to make the game interesting

What it is sometimes the refs want to make the game about them and call unnecessary technical fouls to make the game interesting I have a small belief they have been informed to in some ways to establish their control early and toss a fan or T up a coach. Spectator comments and coaching actions have been a noted factor for the decline of young people getting into officiating. T up a coach early and he may control himself from getting number two. Toss a parent early and the rest of them may keep their mouths in check.

too many fans have this mentality that officials are 1- highly paid( 2- highly traned 3– there to take abuse from fans or coaches who have had a difficult day or week.
Remember this — think of officials as people who are doing you the fan or coach a favor by giving up an evening with there family all for about $12 an hour when you factor in driving cost and time sitting and waiting during a JV game.
—Former 15 year ref who did enjoy most games but some were plain and simple not fun because of the behavior of fans and coaches.

With many boys programs playing triple headers, a freshman/jv ref can make $110-$120 and night. Varsity can make $80-$100 for a single game. Officiate 3+ days a week and a ref can make a supplement of $300-$400 during the winter season. Not many do it for the pay but if they did being a class-1 and soaking up local JH and Freshman/Jv games can add up. Their training is on them. They can do as much or just meet the minimum required. The same goes with case study and rules knowledge. There are bad officials but some need time to get better and others are to busy arguing with fans and coaches to want to get better. They good ones are becoming harder to find.

Although many coaches who knew how to work officials have retired there has to be a new generation of guys who think that they're Dick Kortokrax sans the pedigree. Like officials, coaches need to earn their stripes before attempting to mimic their NBA counterparts, imo. I also think that it's more important to keep the players on the floor under control than listen to the chirping of young coaches.

If the fan gets that obnoxious, let the school's AD handle it. If a ref kicks someone out of a game for simply saying something, they'd better return that fan's money!

Suddenly Norwalk sits alone in 3rd place in the Lake. Perkins got a win vs Clyde.
Sandusky and Tiffin 3-0 (play tomorrow) Norwalk 3-2 Bellevue 2-3 Perkins 1-3 Clyde 0-4
Bellevue 3rd in the RPI for the 11 team district but 4th in the 6 team SBC Lake. Nice group, but they just have a hard time scoring from the outside...and the scoring issues seem to be getting worse.

I did throw two fans out —- 100% legit. I have been there, done that and have a huge amount of respect for what they do. I do think they all love the sport they officiate and enjoy doing it. But not everyone has an inground pool and vacations in the Caribbean. I know a local guy that will take on 2 JH days a week. Will try to work 2 HS varsity girls games a week and then do 2 Freshman/JV games a week. He is a solid ref and does a average or better job most games and he will laugh saying that's $65+$65+$80+$80+$115+$115=$520 in a week of being involved with local basketball. He only does local games so travel is minimal. We need to let younger guys know the can make $400-$500 being involved and helping local school sports. College kids would be great for this.

The ticket you paid gets you in to cheer and support your player or the team. Yelling at other adults or making insulting comments can get those privileges removed.

What makes them think chucking up 23 3s is a brilliant idea? The Bellevue struggles is on the coaching staff, they have the most size of any team in the Lake and they don't try to use it all. They just stand around the 3 point line and shoot three's. They need to have some presence down low. Bellevue has underachieved based on what they have had talent wise the past 2 or 3 years.
