Northern 10 thoughts? Season opens Fri. Dec. 2 for most teams. - Favorite to win is above in poll.
- Dark horse team(s) to watch for?
- POY contenders?
- Any impact newcomers?

Uppers to lose again this year. Col.Crawford will be tough lots of size up front. Dark horse may be Bucyrus young team last year that got lots of playing time. Vent is obvious favorite to repeat as POY. My pic for newcomer is the 6-10 kid from Crawford. If he matured over the off season could be dangerous for the league! The younger Dible kid from Upper is lights out from three so he may make noise too..

Freshman guard Cam McCreary could be an impact player for CC.

I would thought if there was a local kid who played at that level he would have been known by many in a 5 county area. I have never heard that name. Guess I need to get out more.

Checked it out and he is on the roster and the only freshman on the team so he must be pretty dang good. Why has no one heard of him? Never heard of him till I read this. Did oak hill recruit him in?

His class at CC was very good, it was him along with the younger McCreary kid and another kid by the name of Walker I believe who is around 6'4. They pretty much blew out everyone in basketball in 7th and 8th. I don't know the reasoning for him going there but I had seen him play several times. He played for the Mid Ohio Pumas last spring.

Remember that OHA has multiple varsity teams that play. One team is full of scholarship athletes that travels the country playing the top teams across the nation and has major sponsors. The other teams are filled with tuition students who pay to attend the school. They still travel some but it's not the team you see on tv or the team that Mello or Rando played for.

Houle plays for the Red Team, which is 2nd-tier varsity for them. Still above their JV squad. Link to OHA Red media guide: Link
Its schedule says they play in the Canton Ohio Classic on Dec. 10-11.

He's most likely to get moved up sometime in coming years since only a freshman. He works out with Harding alum Shawn dyer i seen, did some research. The houle kid will be good.

CC also got a freshman transfer from Shelby who was probably Shelby's best player in that class.

At $37,000 a year to attend the school and being less than 6'2 he better be really good to get on the scholarship team otherwise he could have paid for his own college and had a good experience at Crawford.

Heath Starkey (SR) would be the 6'10 kid. Scored 4 points against Wynford last year in the 72-36 win. Played 5 games total varsity last year. I have no idea in his JV numbers though.

Logan Houle played AAU ball for more than one team.
Mid-Ohio Puma Black out of Columbus that also had CC's Cam McCreary, Delaware's Chris Mayfield, Plain City's Jack Pugh, Hillard's Matt Allocco, and Mansfield's Chance Mott. Mayfield, Pugh and Alloco are ranked in the top 10 in their class in Ohio, Mott in the top 30. All higher than Houle. Some say Pugh is the #1 player in his class. He reclassified and transferred to San Diego to play in the 8th grade again this year.
Houle also played for Mid Ohio Magic, a team based in the Mansfield area. Also on the team was Madison's Tyler Tackett, St.Petes's Jonah Ramey, Lexington's Kayden Berry and Dylan Spears, Ontario's Cam Todd, Galion's Isaiah Alsip, and Northmor's Blake Miller and Trevor Gekler
If I had heard an 8th grader from CC had transferred to Oak Hill, without given a name, I would have thought it was McCreary.

I've never seen him in live action. But dang does he have some handles. Best I've seen at that age from anyone in Ohio. But I'm not sure of other aspects. Asked around and heard oak hill was excited to get him too cause they think he's gonna be something big.

Like I said if he got a mean side to him in the off season and they fed him a lot of Wheaties he'd be my pic for newcomer. Size like that in this "small school" league I would hope could be a huge advantage. Only time will tell. With the freshmen studs 3 of 4 now Crawford might not have enough basketballs on the floor to keep everyone happy. They might really challenge Upper again for the league title.

I can agree with that bigox. A 6'10 kid at a small country school could really do some damage.

Great post. Thank you. Do you know if knee injuries were due to rapid growth & being frail, or were there random ACL/MCL issues? Based on Sheldon's comments, is he expected to start this year?
