I was told by a CC fan that 4 Juniors didn't go out this year when the Freshman were moved ahead of them. Their JV team didn't have much. Sheldon is building for something big in 2 or 3 years. They'll get away from St.Petes next year, as I also was told they're moving up to DIII. probably for good. Except for St.Petes, DIII could be more problematic. WF, your information is in-correct. CC will be D4 for the next few years. Boys HS enrollment down to around 94. St. Pete's loses PG next year and then the following year they lose coach's kid and Campbell. Probably lose coach too!

All I have to go by is what the CC fan sitting next to me said. He was telling that all of the Open Enrollment kids coming into the CC District would make them DIII. Well aware of St.Petes, Ontario beat them this year. They will be better next year than this year. They really have 2 PGs in their starting line up. The one graduates the other will move into his place. They have a 6-2 Freshman first off the bench that will move into the starting line up. CC loses more next year that St.Petes, when their 6-10 kid graduates. I'm quite sure the coach quits when his son graduates, their JV team is terrible, they wouldn't be if Jacubick was staying. CC would be better off in DIII instead of DIV, this year and next year. The 2 years after that, if CC doesn't make it to State, no one to blame as long as they stay in DIV.

I seen the Central Catholic of N 10 lost to the recruiting school of the NOL Saturday night!!!!! You build it and they will come. The NOL gets rid of Ontario this year.

You have to remember that CC has a larger % of open enrollment kids than most schools do and with the multiplier factored in, that will likely bump them higher than they might be otherwise.

Can't speak for CC in this matter......but for Ontario, how is "CHEATING THE SYSTEM" having low property taxes, great facilities(without state money), great academics, great teachers, great coaches, athletic programs with some success, over a considerable period of time, against larger schools? No one freely, legally comes without all of those. As an example, Crestline and many others like them ALSO take part in Ohio's Open Enrollment Program

You let out the main words, CHEATING THE SYSTEM for both schools Please explain how they are "cheating the system" ? Many schools have open enrollment. But when filling out the OHSAA paperwork, what did the parents put down was the reason for the change of schools? That is how the system can be cheated.

You don't need a reason under the states program. You can go because you like the colors better.

You don't need a reason under the states program. You can go because you like the colors better. The topic was about high school sports and when a kid transfers. You are asked to list a reason by OHSAA. Liking school colors may get an unwanted response.

Open enrollment before school starts, isn't looked at like a mid year transfer. It doesn't matter at all to non-sports playing students.

Why would we be talking about "non-sports playing students" on a sports forum? We are talking about kids who play sports changing schools.

As someone who follows N10 sports. CC has one freshman who transferred from Wynford as a 7th grader, one freshman who came from NE Ohio as a 4th grader, one freshman who came from Shelby as a 9th grader (Mom is Head girls coach and long time teacher), and one Junior who came from Upper as a 7th grader. Not sure that warrants being called the "Central Catholic of N10" or is "Cheating The System". Wish more teams in the N10 would find ways to improve the talent of their teams, as the league would be much more competitive.

Your right. Outside of the many exceptions, they may question the color option for sports. Though it doesn't block you from attending the school. It was still an asinine statement. At Ontario there has been very few open enrollment kids contributing at the top levels to make much of a difference. One of them this year had to physically move to play here.

Just curious, but how many of the kids on the varsity basketball team played for Ontario in MS?

Just curious, but how many of the kids on the varsity basketball team played for Ontario in MS? All but 2 played in Jr Hi. The 6-4 Freshman off the bench moved to Ontario this summer. The 5-9 senior guard off the bench transferred from Shelby the summer between his Freshman and Sophomore years. The key is home grown coaching.

But when filling out the OHSAA paperwork, what did the parents put down was the reason for the change of schools? That is how the system can be cheated. VERY simple answer. Ontario has the highest rated academics for a public school in a 5 county area. All the parent has to say is the obvious, "Open Enrolling for better academics". THE REASON Ohio's Open Enrollment Program was established. If Open Enrolling from a private school out side of the school disrict, they can say they are Open Enrolling for similar academics without having to pay tuition.

They eased the restrictions on those that open enroll before school starts. OHSAA forms are the same regardless of what month you change high schools. If you Open Enroll before the start of 9th grade or the start of football practice 9th grade, if playing football, the OHSAA does not care.

Even if he did play a game or two, mcm1019's curiosity would still be satisfied to know he was not a "home grown" kid. Which I assume is what he was asking.
