Usually there are some favorable candidates in house. Any in this case?

Marquise (sp) Sykes would be my vote if he want it.

I believe they are going outside for this hire. Cleaning house so to say.

Probably in house AD, outside BK coach. Unless there is a great candidate that wants both!!!

A great candidate probably would not apply, IMO .

Probably in house AD, outside BK coach. Unless there is a great candidate that wants both!!! This can be some of the reason for the issues they have.

Someone with previous coaching success at Mansfield would be a good hire.

Anyone who has already had success in the district coaching and who may be interested in the position. You indicated you knew names were coming in. Only makes sense that a local could have interest.

If looking for success in the district, in the past couple of years when the program began falling off, you'd have to go to the Junior High.

Also m10, if nobody local applied it would be a first in a long time. When was the last time a coach was hired that wasn't from around the area? Reese James Collins Hetler Prats Goode Pfiz ??

Next in line Burkett, then Vern Hoffman which takes you probably back to the 40s!
Only in-house candidate would be Sykes. That's why I think they will go outside.

Hope it goes well. It's definitely not the job it used to be although some in the district may not agree with that.

The fact that they're D2 might help a little IMO. Sure it won't change the conference, but deeper tournament runs shouldn't be as difficult as in years past.
And even though St. Peter's was a terrific D4 school, I'd have to think that any coach applying from the outside would look at last season's schedule and think twice about taking over a big program that couldn't beat a D4 school.

Being D2 may help but after these jobs came open and talking with a few, I am hearing this system is a wreck from top to bottom.

Which is why we need a re-boot. Fresh eyes so to speak. A little closer look at that D4 school reveals 2 players from MCS (Cobb there because of dad's blowup with Sr coach), a Madison kid and coaches son. Not a bAD d4. Ask Ashland how they liked getting beat by StP. StP didn't really beat Sr. The coaching staff lost it. Anyone who was at the game knows what I'm talking about.

The system I was referring to is MCS, not just the basketball program.

Deadline has passed. Interviews needed?
I was recently told that if someone from inside applies for the Ath. Dir. job they will get it.

Mansfield Ath. Dir. job has a probable replacement. (but that can only be confirmed by m10)
Interviews for the coaching positions begin soon, if they haven't already.

Would Todd Krill be considered for either position if interested?

4 interviews finished. 8 more tomorrow. Todd Krill is likely to retire after the 17-18 school year. Final 2 or 3 candidates will have a second interview next week with the final choice ready for the June Board meeting.

12 candidates interviewed? Seems like a high number. Or is that for both positions?

Mansfield Ath. Dir. job has a probable replacement. (but that can only be confirmed by m10) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mansfield's new AD is a woman who has taught special need students in the Mansfield District the past 14 years. Her last and only connection to high school coaching was over 14 years ago when she coached softball at Black River and has no experience in Athletic Administration. She got her masters degree from University of Phoenix. She doesn't even live in the school district. The 3 female board members voted for her. One of the 2 men on the BOD was absent from the meeting, the other voted against her. The male BOD member said there were several positions to be filled and all of those, including the AD job, were included in the same motion. It was not possible to just vote for or against the person offered the AD job. You were only able to vote for or against the slate of people up for several positions. Very strange.
