Upper Sandusky will go undefeated this again and did NOTHING to even find a challenging bball game. Then they will more than likely get thumped by the first decent team they play from a D2 conference.
Too bad because they saw this talent coming, and scheduled NO one. There is a reason Norwalk played Whitmer, Toledo Rogers, Lorain, Perkins twice and others when they knew they had a chance to be good. They wanted to get ready for the post season which is what matters.

But locking in what should be quality schools from the nol and maintaining rivalry games from the old league sounded good I'm sure and New Riegel last year was supposed to be a loaded team for its size and division but had injuries. They went to Eastern Ohio camp one of the best team camps in the country and played tough.Scrimmages against Norwalk,Edison Lexington Mansfield Senior. Ontario Ottawa Glandorf have helped against the "soft " league. They may get bounced from the tournament but it won't be from being soft. Or unprepared. Blowing teams out by 23 ppg. is what good teams are supposed to do with inferior competition.

If you think Playing 3 schools in your division, and 19 against SMALLER schools of 22 regular season games doesn't hinder you when you play teams in the OHSAA tournament then your drinking the Kool-Aid. We're not talking just beating teams your supposed to by 23 ppg we're talking about beating teams that a basically D2 level JV teams...

I have not seen Upper play nor do I need to and the statements have little to do with their talent level. They may well be a very good team. However at years end they will be team that has won 60 of their last 66 regular season games and are 1-2 in the OHSAA tournament and searching for it's first District title in that span. But I'm sure the two are unrelated...

Can't change that Upper is the big dog in the N10. But like I stated. They did what the could do out of the season to get " tougher". Even picking up the team who put them out during summer ball. Guess time will tell if this year's team can live up to being as good as some hope.

I just think a LB, OG or a Lex (who I understand they play next season) would have helped their preparation for the second season...

Don't those teams actually need an opening on their schedule to play Upper? It's not like Upper's AD can just wave a magic wand and simply put them on the schedule.

I assume these kids came up through the Upper system and I also would guess they were real good in MS school correct? If that's the case then they should have been looking IMO... There is a reason Willard played Toledo Macomber, ASVSM other holiday tournament foes, amongst others and yes even Upper during the Diebler years went out and got some short term deals against quality foes. Norwalk played Toledo Whitmer, Rogers, Wooster, Elyria and picked up an extra game against Perkins when they were state champs. Maybe the AD tried I don't know? however I do know it can be done...

What I think portwalk is saying is be like the SBC/NOL . Look at their greatness and learn . Little country bumpkin conferences like the N10 or even the MOAC will never have quality teams or players . They must kneel at the feet of the mighty NOL and be schooled on the art of winning . One wonders how Buckeye Central and Wynford ever advanced past one win in the playoffs while being stuck in the NCC/N10 for all these years. It all goes back to "poor Upper Sandusky" . You have a good team but you are in the N10 . Now if you stayed in the NOL, the world would be so much brighter for you . With the death of the NOL may-be this thinking will also die.

The problem is everyone wants to focus on the non league for Upper. They play mostly old foes from the NOL of similar size or bigger. In my humble opinion, the problem was the recommendation and vote to join the N10. 16 games against low D3 and D4 teams is a joke. And for those saying it's too hard to find games or change schedules, there were no issues when Diebler wanted it done. Of course, he wanted the challenging games to prepare for a state run, I'm not so sure this regime does. Appears to me bullying up on the low level D3 and D4 teams by 50 points and going 22-0 is enough. And if that's what they set their sites on, 22-0 and district semi losses then that's their prerogative. And before someone comes on here and says 22-0 is an accomplishment, go watch the N10 this year.

Moving to the MOAC, Galion will no longer be a non-league game. And Upper is closer than Wooster.

Patience my friends. In a couple of years Vent and the Dible boys will be gone, CC's current freshman class will be the ones flirting with 22-0, and no one will care who Upper plays in non league games again.

Careful there, as a resident of a rural community I'm certain that you are familiar with a phrase regarding "counting chickens".

Actually Upper has some nice young players. The problem isn't the strength of their non-league schedule. The problem is playing 16 games in a bad conference

Winslow runs a very good program. CC's "nice young players" are seeing significant varsity minutes and winning most of their games. N10 is a bad conference for a DII team to be in. Their choice. Not so much for a DIV or even a DIII.

I say no,because they would of still lost to Ottawa-Glandorf last year and likely will this year too regardless of their schedule

Apples to oranges?? Same school, same AD, talented team; granted no D1 talent, but still talented. Only difference is coach.

After Dieblers three year State run, in his last three years at Upper in the NOL, Upper was 15-27 in league play and 2-3 in tournament. The reality is that the league, the schedule, the coach, are not nearly as important as the players you actually have on the team in any particular year.
