Torch remember you and Ceo preached analytics on the old forum. Well we are getting analytics, anybody that had any sense would not have passed on Watson.

Man in 5 years Wentz might be the best QB in the NFC and Watson might be the best QB in the AFC.
Unreal.

5 years? That's probably 3 more Browns head coaches and about 8 more different starting qb's. That being said, I know all of you die hard, loyal Browns fans are jumping all over those 7 dollar tickets for the Jax game here in 2 weeks right? I even spent the extra 3 bucks for the front row seats. Even though I'm a lifelong Steelers fan, I figured that it would be good therapy for my dad and brothers. I liken watching Browns games alone to drinking alone. It's unhealthy and may be a sign of worsening depression.

And just when you thought the Browns couldn't possibly be more inept...how the hell do you make a trade and fail to notify the league prior to the 4pm deadline?

And now it's being reported that cincy might have dropped the ball on this deal...didn't send in the document that was signed by both teams...you can't make this crap up!

Yah, not sure why the Browns would even agree to that deal to begin with. This HAS to be the final straw for that front office, right?

and the fact that they could have gotten Garrapolo for a 2nd (as the 49ers did) instead of a 2nd and 3rd for McCarron makes them look like even bigger idiots after they tried all off-season to get Garrapolo

The Pats weren't sending Jimmy G to the Browns. Brady and Jimmy have the same agent and the agent said he wouldn't let Jimmy play for that mess in Berea.

Well if that is the case, and God bless that kid's agent if it is, then the NFL needs to step in and do something about this franchise.
This trade offer for McCarron reeks of Huge Action. People forget it was Huge himself, in the power vacuum left in the immediate wake of Al Davis's death, that unilaterally dealt (2) 1st round picks to Cincy for Carson Palmer. That was a big reason Al's son summarily dismissed Huge Action as soon as the dust settled.
I am betting that Huge and his faction worked this deal behind the Browns backs, trying to sneak it past them at the deadline, that is why Cleveland never sent their paperwork in. Either they didn't know about the deal or they gagged (rightfully so) on the thought of sending a 2nd and a 3rd for McCarron.
This move reeks of desperate Huge trying not to be 0-16. He worked for Cincy. He was hoping Cincy would push it thru and it would be too late for Cleveland to stop. No way in hell an analytics based FO signs off on a deal like that.

Seriously though, there is no disinterested lame duck team from San Diego coming to Cleveland to play on X-mas eve this season. IF there is a win on their schedule which game is it?

Draftwire projects the Browns with picks 1, 13 (Rd 1), 33, 45, 64 (Rd 2), and 65 (Rd 3). San Fran traded 34 for Garrapolo. Perhaps it was an agent-driven decision on Garrapolo, as Torch suggests, but I wonder if the Browns were willing to give up 33 for him. Not sure what to make of the McCarron debacle. Maybe it was picks 64 and 65, instead of 33 (or 45) and 65, which combined may be less than pick 33 in the world of analytics? Botching a deal over a paperwork error, if that is really what happened, seems unbelievable. We haven't heard a full explanation yet.

A) I suggest the agent ordeal, which I heard from Adam Shefter B)Also I don't think Bill wanted to trade in conference C) We won't ever hear what really happened with the debacle. Really both sides waited to long in getting the trade finalized. D) I mean do the Browns really want a qb that can't beat out Andy Dalton? Sure he's probably better than what they have now but I'd rather pick someone number 1 and use those other picks on players

It actually went beyond agents. Allegedly there was a gentleman’s agreement that the 49ers would release Hoyer after the trade. Obviously the patriots snatched him up right after.

If that was the case, why not formally include Hoyer in the trade? No added cost, no risk he signs elsewhere.

Because if he was part of the trade then they would have to fit his contract under their cap. If he gets released they can sign him for whatever they want to.

I wonder if the Browns front office knows about all of those things.

I still think this was a case of Huge Action going rogue and trying to conspire with his former employers to circumnavigate the Browns FO. That is why the deal was done so late and that is why the "Browns" sent their paperwork to Cincy instead of the league office. Huge was hoping Cincy could push it through.
No way this FO gives up a 2nd and 3rd for McCarron. Huge was the only one willing to make that move to maybe get a couple wins and avoid the shame of having 0-16 on your HC record. Huge was the only one it was worth it to.

I’d like to think that finding backup QBs and turning them into an NFL Franchise QB successfully is rare. That’s not saying the Browns thought McCarron is a franchise player, but putting hope in someone else’s 2nd best QB doesn’t seem to turn out great. I don’t have the numbers, but I can name a few off the top of my head, Flynn, Cassel, Schaub, Mallett. The only one I can think of that was traded that was successful is Favre.
I’d rather be sitting here complaining about an inept front office than be sitting here complaining about an inept front office trading a 2nd and 3rd for a bum to temporarily stop the bleeding this year to prevent people from being fired.
There’s a long list of moves made in CLE that have been detrimental to the long term success of the Browns, that were made under the Browns name by front office folks and coaches who were simply trying not to be fired in the short term. Trading a 2nd and a 3rd for Cody Kessler 2.0 would’ve been another.

Just think of all the QBs we’ve gotten to cheer for!
How boring it must be to be a Pats fan and have to cheer for the same ole guy for like 20 years. How boring!

First, I admit that being a die hard Buckeye fan tends to taint my perspective, but watching Peppers bumble, fumble and stumble makes watching the clowns even more unbearable for me. But I must admit he fits right in with these jokers. He's the epitome of todays cleveland browns. A first round pick? Seriously? ?
