Soccer anyone? Add that to the impressive win record since Upper became the big fish in the little pond and the incredible amount of work it takes in football. There are still some kids there who show up, but it makes me sad to hear that they aren't getting it done in the numbers game. Don't know if it's an other sport problem or if it's a kids not wanting to play for the coach problem. 207 boys and you can only get 26 ish boys out something stinks and it not sweaty jockstrap! 😎😎 It's easy to point the finger at soccer, but kids now have more choices. In middle school, in the fall, boys can play football or run CC. Some of them probably didn't care much about either sport, but did one or the other simply for the sake of doing SOMETHING. They can still do those in HS, but they can also choose from golf and soccer.

According to last years roster on the N10 website, Upper had 38 underclassmen (9-10-11) on the team. Add to that the incoming players who were in 8th grade last year and you have an alarming amount of attrition. Maybe some of those not attending the summer workouts will show up when it cools down a little. By the end of last season, Upper did not have enough kids to field separate middle school teams and the majority of the kids were 7th graders.

Numbers are way down at Upper Sandusky. No freshman team and the last count I heard was 26 boys out for football total through all four grades. I think the #s are actually in the low 30s, but either way, it's not very much. Yes last week's 7 on 7 had 33 boys I believe. Missing from the field is jaden sebieneck senior quarterback. Moved to Ottawa glandorf...

Doesn't Ottawa Glandorf have a good QB returning for his senior season?

Just because he moved doesn't mean it was for football reasons. Perhaps a divorce or a new job? I'm sure if he's good enough that the O-G staff will find a place on the field for him somewhere.

I never said the move was for football. Only asking about the QB at Glandorf. I'm not sure he is good enough because I never saw an Upper game but I did see a Glandorf game and they are pretty solid.

The move was football related. No new job, and no divorce. Unfortunately he wait til the middle of July to make this decision.

usramfan i can give you a little report about the team you play in week four at your place vs edison chargers.we are very experienced on both sides of the ball, edison has the division five offensive player of the year in fullback sam stoll almost 2000 yards rushing and 33 tds, have a senior qb in cody scott who was backup last year behind the qb who ran for over 1000yds and i believe the halfback is back from last year with almost 1000 yds.the last 2 years the chargers rushed for over 4000 yds each year.we run the triple option which drove teams crazy, the only team that came close to stopping the run was canton central catholic in last years d-5 state semi finals who beat us 24-14.edison hardly passes about 8 times a game, even when behind we dont throw it much.edison is co-favorites with shelby in the sbc bay division and max preps picks edison to win division 5 state title.

Yep, the family will have the LIE if they don't want their kid to sit out the first 5 games. Parents that teach their children lying for gain is acceptable are worthless.

If he moved he's not sitting out any games. He sure as heck isn't commuting from Upper to O-G unless his family owns a helicopter.

I will agree with you on this but by rule he forfeits half a season until an affidavit is signed and submitted stating the legitimate reason for the move. There is nothing saying the OHSAA must accept but we all figure they will.

The only time that I have ever seen any holdup on this is if there is some type of custodial transfer involved and there is an issue with the legal documents.

The half season for previous sports is an automatic obstacle to deal with. I agree that most do but it does take paperwork.

AND the parents must lie and say the move was for something other than football. Moving to play football for another school will not fly.

The kids have been here every day. We don’t have a lot of kids. We only have 26 kids this year, but they are here everyday working hard. They lift, they do their agility training. They are out here throwing, catching, blocking, practicing on their own, and they are excited to play football. So, even though we don’t have a lot of guys they are all football players and they are ready to go. They are excited about this season.” Should be a good match up.

A school Upper's size would really have to be pretty freaking bad not to win 4 games in that conference.

Held down never exited my mouth. I said opened up. I.E. more passing than running. And was complementing a kid who many felt from that program is the best passing qb that the royals have had in a long time. You were right ox. Recent quote from Coach Helbert in swankonsports.com: "This year our quarterback is a very talented kid, but a little bit different in terms of his mobility,” Helbert said Monday, “He can still run, but probably has a different style and is more of a passer first where as Zach was definitely a runner, but could throw the ball. So, a little different that way. We will be a little bit more back oriented from that standpoint and quarterback oriented.” Coach speak that he is a pocket passer? Going from a run oriented offense to a passing one is a big task even for a team like the Royals. Should be interesting to watch. Do you know their scrimmage schedule?

That's not necessarily the case. If you are keeping your current offense and simply running different plays more frequently then there shouldn't be many growing pains at all. Now if your scrapping your current offense and implementing a brand new system then I see your point.

It would appear for coach Helbert over the years, the offense may get modified for players but the offense doesn't get changed.

Edison scrimmaged Colonel Crawford on Saturday. It was Edison 5 scores to 3 for CC in the ten play portion. It was 1-1 in the down and distance portion. Edison broke a couple of long runs for TD. CC threw 3 long passes for TD. Edison was a little better than CC in controlling the line of scrimmage in the run game, however, CC was able to give their QB time to throw.
