I think that it's safe to say now that it's Ashland and Senior then everybody else.

OK, week 5 is up and things are getting heated up in conference. Wooster got off the snide last week and now West Holmes or Madison gets to this week!
Ashland at Mt Vernon - Ashland won 49-36 last year. Probably not as much scoring as last year but the outcome the same. Ashland 28-14
Senior at Maple Hts. - Tygers week for the non-com game. QB back which opens up passing game but soph qb did a good job in running game. Mustangs are 2-2, coming off a loss to University School. TY 35-21
Lexington at Wooster - Hard game to figure! Wooster lost to Orrville while Lex blasted them in 2nd half. Both teams trying to stay in race for title but Wooster seems to be improving. I'll go Wooster at home 21-20.
Let's give a shoutout to the Clear Fork Colts after whining about OCC competition for years, getting off to a 4-0 start in the MOAC. Looking to go 10-0 before getting crushed by Shelby somewhere in the playoffs!!!
Game of the Week- West Holmes at Madison. Both teams 0-4 coming into the week. Both teams want to throw, so hopefully this game ends before 11pm so the News-Journal can make their deadline.....oh... never mind. The Knights showed some grit vs Senior last week while Madison has 6 foot 12 Kyle Jackson for go routes. Even though it's at Madison, I'm going Knights 34-Rams 28. Share your thought

M10, I don't think it was the Clear Fork Colts whining about the OCC, I believe it was their head coach. He will be happy to go back to his old ways before coming to CF. Going 8-2 or better during season then going 0-1 or 1-1 in playoffs. But at least he can say he is winning.

Right, they just changed conferences so the football coach would be happy.

The only sport that the Colts were not moderately successful in was football during their tenure in the OCC. 5 years prior to the arrival of current coach, they were very competitive.
Drew Pasteur's picks for week 5
Ashland by 13 Senior by 9 Wooster by 2 W Holmes by 10

Drew Pasteur's picks for week 5 Ashland by 13 Senior by 9 Wooster by 2 W Holmes by 10 The Colts won the OCC under their current coach. I cannot say how many years they finished in the top 4 of the OCC but during their 13 year membership the Colts had 6 winning seasons in football. In their first 7 years being in the OCC they had only 1 losing season and that was the first at 3-7. Which was also their record the year before joining the OCC. IN the last 6 years under the current coach they have gone 11-8 in non-conference play and 13-28 in the OCC.

Looks like the race to the bottom of the OCC is on. Lex and Mad neck and neck with Lex's offense and Mad'a defense showing little signs of life. This should be a game for the ages.

^^^Not much of a race. More of a free fall until one hits the ground. To me the difference so far in the two teams you mentioned is one has been in most of their games competing for a win while the other has let their opponent name the score. In the end both will be towards the bottom of the OCC but I don't think they will be the bottom two.

Based on the score only, it looks like Mt. Vernon put up a pretty decent fight against Ashland. Any details from that game?

They've had 3 losses by a total of 17 points. Other than the Shelby game they have competed as expected for a very young team.

Week 6 has arrived in the OCC and unlike last Friday's sweatfests, Autumn should be back for this week.
Ashland entertains the Madison Rams this week and the fans should be able to pickup their Dor-Lo pizzas by 915 due to a running clock in the 2nd half. The Arrows get to rest their players for next week's showdown with MSr. Ashland 49-14
Mansfield Senior travels to Lexington for a dangerous game vs the Minutemen. Lex always plays better at home and they let the grass grow for 3 weeks! Tygers in a squeaker 35-28
Mt Vernon at Hilliard Darby The Yellow Jackets get the non-conf game this week vs a former OCC (that other conference)team. Mt Vernon actually led Ashland in the 4th quarter last week but couldn't hang on. Darby O'Gill and the little people run to a 34-21 victory
Game of the Week - Wooster at West Holmes Wooster, winners of their last 2 travel to Amish Country, winners of their last 1, for a game that should be decided in the 4th quarter. In a mild upset, a Yoder kicks the game-winning FG for the Knights 24-21.

Lex has the nicest natural grass field in the state this side of Cleveland Browns Stadium. I think they will maintain that this week. As for the game Senior will run to a fairly easy win over the Minutemen 35-14. I hope I'm wrong. Any ways -- Go Big Lex!

Ontario has finally hired the same company to take care of their grass football, soccer and baseball fields. They do miracles with grass.

Wooster-West Holmes should be a very competitive game. Could go either way. I think Wooster has something like 6-7 starters hurt or out for the season now. Lost another one last week, broken collarbone. Young guys are stepping up though and getting some great experience. I like the way Wooster has been competing after the first two games. Realistically though, the rest of the season will be rough.

Wow! Let's hear it for the first place Wooster Generals!!! 55-20 at W Holmes. Generals all alone in 1st at 3-0 in OCC. Ashland and Senior only 2-0. 3 team round robin starts next week among the leaders.
