You can if he plays horribly and doesn't throw the ball with accuracy more than 5 yards downfield on a regular basis.  True test will be after game 2.  Then its literally an OSU cake walk until the end of the season. I just want to win, I don't give a shat who has what stats. I don't play the immature blame game. It would be great to win by 50, but a 1 point win is all that's required. Unfortunately that's not true in the current system. Two words, style points.

My concern is OSU DB's can't play man coverage. They have their back to the QB and can't get their heads turned around. I think they should play 5-7 yard off and not up. IU receivers are good.

Two consecutive drops on Campbell then the O-coordinate calls a 4th and 2 run giving it to the skinniest player on the team.
If ALL players on the team were playing like Dobbins OSU would be up by 4 TDs

JT can only throw 5 - 7 yard throws, that is 100% correct. Outside of that, it is a total crap shoot.

Thank you Dixon, for being able to catch a 7 yard pass and turn on the jets.

Hey dummy when you're on the 10 yard line you can't throw a longer TD pass than 10 yards. Why in the hell would anyone prefer to throw a ball 50 yards in the air when you can throw a 15 yard pass and have the fastest player on the field turn it into a 70 yard TD.

Including the several overshot balls to wide open wideouts. JT cannot go downfield on a consistent basis. Thank you OSU D for winning this game for us.

You're as blind as you are ignorant.
ONE pass over thrown and if you were REALLY watching the TE slightly stumbled on his route.
Hey fool, can you explain why Indiana throws a pass on 95% of their plays, yet almost all have not been thrown further than 15 yards in the air??
Did anyone notice that the new O-coordinator must have been told at halftime by Urban to go back to his philosophy of being physical and run the ball to set up the passing game?

I just head Kirk say that OSU had 220+ yards after catch. So without doing math, out of his 310 yards tonight, JT cannot throw downfield. Thankfully our D cranked it up in the second half against an IU team that will lose 5 games this year. JT did nothing but complete short passes and let the athletes take over. JT is avg. JT cannot go downfield. JT will lose a game for us when we play a tough D. JT should be replaced. Noodle arm is coming out early.

tubbygunn, you being ignorant can't comprehend how it is a MUCH higher % to throw 15 yard passes to wide open receivers and let the fastest player on the field turn it into a 70 yard TD. Then throw the ball 50 yards down field to a receiver who is covered. You not being to bright when it comes to math, let me help you. A 15 yard wide open pass is a MUCH higher % to complete than a 50 yard pass to a covered receiver. BTW did Herbie say it was a bad thing to throw 15 yard passes instead of 50 yard passes?? Another reason for your ignorance. Who was calling the 15 passes that turned into long TDs instead of throwing 50 yard passes down field to not open receivers?
You're telling us that Hawkins would have played better tonight than JT??? IGNORANT FOOOOOL!!!

Earlier in the week, Urban expressed the concern that there was little substance or absolutes in which to base a defensive game plan, with a new Indiana coaching staff and no game film to study for tendencies or offensive approaches to situations. No surprise the Lagow to Cobbs connection bordered on prolific at times. Ohio State defense consisted primarily of read, analyze react first half, Lagow's quick releases compounded the learning process and found our relentless pass rush a step or two late, before the ball was in the air. After digesting the first half, Schiano & Meyer made the necessary adjustments and we witnessed the superior talents of the Buckeyes emerge in the second half. Bringing an extra man on the blitz and getting more immediate routes to Lagow, his throwing accuracy we witnessed first half, were suddenly off the mark more regularly and we implemented a little more zone coverage in the secondary to help the corners out. Nice adjustments and nice turnaround by the Buckeyes.

The question that begs asked is....If a team is going to throw 95% of the time, why does the defense play 3 LBs on every play?

The question that begs asked is....If a team is going to throw 95% of the time, why does the defense play 3 LBs on every play? Good question. One need only look who those linebackers are and in Ohio States case, weakside LB Jerome Baker is very mobile and can function like a safety. He is excellent at dropping back in coverage. Booker and Worley not so much the case.

OSU was rotating defensive line almost every play or every chance they got to sub. Our D-line is so deep. Even Chase Young was getting a lot of snaps. And this is with Mike Hill suspended as well.

Good win for the Buckeyes. After a slow start on both sides of the ball, the Buckeyes showed the college football world, the product is as advertised.
Richard Lagow's NFL stock had to rise significantly and his fleet of tall, athletic receivers are imposing targets, that are going to give opponents fits this season. All their receivers are in the 6-3....6-4 range and very physical and athletic, and Cobbs is a particularly special talent.
Indiana's new offensive coordinator, Mike DeBord, has an impressive resume' of QB's he has tutored & mentored in the past, such as Brian Griese in 1997 and Tom Brady in 1998 and is recognized as the QB guru by his peers.
While our focus will be on the Buckeyes, Indiana will be an interesting study as the season progresses. Personally, I think Tom Allen will lead them to a winning record and bowl berth.

Which is why I laughed when the talking heads were saying Indiana's pace might wear OSU down. How, when our DL takes half the snaps of Indiana's OL?

Barrett had a good 2nd half.
Our RG was getting BLOWED UP! tho most of the 1st half. Gotta fix that. IU isn't known for it's fearsome defensive front.

Zeke has proven to be a moron. Unfortunately. His father moved from Texas and lived with him in Columbus and controlled him most of the time. Now that Zeke is on his own making MILLIONS....well....

Baker was the nickel back most of the night. Much like Darren Lee played They have a plethora of talented young DBs. Leave Baker in and take out one of the other LBs out and put in a DB. a true "nickle" defense. Heck they could play 6 DB's and Indiana still wouldn't be able to run the ball. Baker couldn't "drop back in coverage" in this game to help where were they wee throwing the ball, 10-15 yard passes along the side line.. Put another DB or two or in the game and dare them to run the ball.
