All 3 building principals were hired 3 years ago. Superintendent five years ago. Also have had 3 athletic directors in five years. Yep. Actually 4 Athletic Directors in 8 years…hard for the sports programs to have any positive momentum when you are constantly starting from scratch repeatedly. Says something about the HS principal, Superintendent and Board roles there, doesn’t it? Teachers and coaches are tired of the way the school has been run, and are getting out.

Well someone is taking a loss… Tiffin Calvert at Western Reserve next Saturday night Love it. Both teams could have just prepared for the playoffs by practicing, etc. What a game that will be at WR. Credit to both coaches and their players for pulling the trigger on this.

I believe it was Tim Ritzler, who is now the Head Girls Coach at Old Fort.

Did the new AD push him out after putting 70 on Bucyrus and Buckeye? Or because of 4-7?
Either way, the next coach won’t have it easy with Otsego, Pleasant and Lucas in their first 3 non-conference games…

Calpreps says:
neutral field [2021] Vermilion (OH) 31, [2021] Willard (OH) 27
If you give 3 points for home field advantage (long drive for Vermilion) it’s basically a pick ‘em.
Will be interesting to see what happens.

Crestview made that look easy. I’m not surprised. Watched Connor Morse manhandle a playoff-caliber team in East Knox earlier in the season (on both sides of the ball) and knew NSP would be up against it even with the great coaching from John Livengood. Crestview is really, really good. It’s as simple as that.

Fostoria will be 0-10 every year once Woodmore leaves. How long before they think of leaving or is there not anywhere they could go? IMO they aren’t a good fit in the NBC in any way. There really is no place for them to go. SBC doesn’t want them… BVC doesn’t want them… N10 doesn’t want them… The only area conference desperate enough to consider it would be the TAAC, and I don’t think they have interest. They have recently hired back their old AD Tim Murray. Let’s see how he does at bringing the programs back…

Certain people have nothing better to do than kick high school kids while they are down. I can't fathom what it is going to take to get Willard football back to even a 500 team most years. Playing games against teams that are far superior in the non league is not the answer though. Honestly, I think they will have a shot against vermilion. It’s interesting you say that. In 2018, Willard played the River teams for their conference schedule, and they finished 4-3 vs. the River teams. Not great, but respectable. Since that season upon being moved to the Bay, Willard is a combined 1-25. their only win: 11/1/2019 vs. Vermilion. It’s pretty clear those kids will be big underdogs until that final home Senior night game vs Vermillion. Hope they can pull off the win, to avoid another no win season. Hate to see any team/program go through that. The answer is simple: to be a .500 team, Willard has to play River level teams. Or this will probably continue. I truly wish those kids good luck, especially with the Vermillion game at the end of the year.

Huron Volleyball > Everything else Oak Harbor wrestling had a great run in the mid 00’s but suffered from being in D2 with the monster that is St.Paris Graham. Imagine having three state champs and not even sniffing first. If Calvert wins State again this year in VB, it will have 3 State Titles in 4 years. Honestly don’t know how many Huron has. Is it a lot more?

That's going to be a great game. I like Crestview in this one, but I think it'll be a high scoring and close game. The Riders' QB is the best player in the league in my opinion. I was at the game in Ashland last night just like sbclives, so saw it live and in person. Can’t speak for WR, but #3 for Crestview was very impressive. RB, Safety, punt returner, kickoff squad. Kid never left the field. Single handedly beat EK. And didn’t shy away from contact as a defender. Laid some serious licks out there. Hell of a FB player. QB is solid. OL and DL were a handful. If WR beats them, the Riders are a very good D6 team.

This is just a bad look on all that’s in charge at New London. Don’t they have about 40 boys in each class which is a total of 120 in the top 3 grades and couldn’t even pull at least 20. I’d be a little upset if I were the other schools on their schedule. Let's face it: New London is a cross country school. So is Mount Gilead....but MG has both Varsity and JV this year. And New London certainly hasn’t had more success. So why no football? Can’t blame XC. MG is almost exactly the same size.

Snively on the hot seat now? Could be like 3-4 seasons in a row losing record. Just curious. It will be blamed on the MOAC expansion. The addition of "bigger schools to the North" as I have heard it said. It wouldn’t have mattered no matter what the reasoning is. His direct supervisor who evaluates him is Snively’s assistant coach Bob Smith (who is now the AD). Above Bob is Steve Ringer as HS principal. Those three guys are best buds. Snives isn’t going anywhere.

Heard the Purple Indian in Mt Gilead is reopening. It did. Owner got the old sauce recipe from the old owners, and it kicks *** again. Crust was terrific, toppings were really good. Just my experience....

Michael Zalar, who was one of the three finalists for the Norwalk superintendent job before pulling out of the race, is the new superintendent at Tiffin City Schools. I assume related to the late, great "Zip" Zalar, legendary coach and teacher at Calvert.... Just wondering how the community will respond to him being a retire/rehire. I'm sure he will do a good job, but will be tough sledding passing levies, etc. until the Board is voted out.

its a league on life support... making a 10 league team and you'll see it explode and quickly.. the problem is its all about football..the other sports are surviving fine.. if we are going to "force " teams to move.. then blow up the river .. and move a couple bays into the lake to get two 8 team leagues.. Could a possible preemptive move by the River schools, a-la the NCC > N10, be in the cards? The River has its own problem in terms of separation. With the “dump SMCC” idea since they can’t keep 11-man football, getting FSJ and Calvert to dump SMCC won’t be all that easy. FSJ loves them and feels they are tied to them historically. They won’t ditch SMCC, even if it is against their own best self interest. Calvert on the other hand, has no such commitment to the Panthers and has shown they would even separate from FSJ in the past. I can guarantee you that Bishop Thomas will be calling from Toledo and demanding the two schools not hang SMCC out to dry. Will be interesting to see what they do. No matter what the Bishop demands, both FSJ and Calvert have been given their own governing boards (like a public school board) to make decisions for their schools as they see fit. What happens in Fremont and Tiffin will determine If the River can break off.

Changing the name of a conference is a big hassle. You have to pay a lawyer to get it registered with the State of Ohio and put together an entirely new conference name, logos, constitution, bylaws, stationary, etc.
Then on top of paying for all that, you then have to get ALL of it agreed to and approved by the OHSAA.
It's a pain and the rear and a waste of money. And a process. They are wise to keep the name, and not deal with all that wasted money and hassle.

Andy is also related to Danny Slaughter who is a high school teacher at Ontario. The fact he resigned a week after the posting makes it seem like a done deal. Well, Willy, are you OK with this hire? Is he friends with Fish or something? Record doesn't wow me, but I don't know much about those schools. Been around a lot, that's for sure...

Is Pleasant the smallest school in the league? Yes. D2 = Harding D3 = River Valley D4 = Highland, Clear Fork, Ontario, Galion, Shelby D5 = Pleasant Makes the football season a real meat grinder for Pleasant. And it's one of the main reasons why no one was putting their applications in for the job. That and what was posted by moacpops above which is accurate. It's not just about how good Shelby is. As for playing BV and JA, they lost their last 2 games vs. JA by double digits and BV football has always been mediocre at best. And those years were back when lots of talent available on the football field. No more. Add in that the 3 of the assistant coaches quit (meaning the new coach would have to bring in an entire staff) and you can see why coaches aren't jumping at the job.

I feel for Pleasant. Hopefully new facilities might attract talent back to the area? It's going to be hard for them to consistently compete in the "new" MOAC. But where else could they go? They will probably call the Northern 10 first. The Northern 10 will say no. There really is no place for them to go.

In the last 50 years nearly every SBC school has 1 or more championships in one or more sports plus many Final 4 / Top 4 finishes at state as TEAMS. Ross has what state success? They fit geographically and need a new home out of desperation, why is that the SBC’s problem to fix? It's not. Ross is going to the NLL anyway, as they would never be let in the SBC. Everyone moves on...which is good.

Talked to a coach in Lima. They are trying to get into the WBL. It's that or independent at this point. Their only hope there is that Defiance jumps to the NWOAL, opening up a spot for Lima Senior, one would think.

Well...that means Fremont, Clay and Findlay are going to the NLL.
Gives the NLL 10 teams, and pushes Napoleon and BG out as soon as they can find a landing place. Replacing Maumee (D3) with Findlay (D1), Ross (D2) and Clay (D2) just expedites it.
TRAC will be in an interesting situation...

Ummm...did anyone notice that Marion Harding just posted their Head Football job? Where is Jerrod Slater going? where are you seeing that? He’s been running them through their offseason stuff and been involved on social media. That would be shocking. He was very good there as an assistant on some decent teams. Has had less talent lately but also hasn’t done anything with it. From OHSAA Jobs site: Marion Harding Seeks Head Varsity Football Coach Marion Harding is seeking a Head Varsity Football Coach. Please submit application materials online via the Marion City Schools District website at www.marioncityschools.org/ApplyatMarionCitySchools.aspx ; Please also submit application materials to Athletic Director Sean Kearns at skearns@mcspresidents.org. Job will remain posted until Friday April 16. 3/31/2021
