I would hate after competing in the Current SBC to go back to a smaller 7/8 team conference. I would be looking to combine leagues if not in the SBC. I would want a conference in another division as well. I know Blanchard valley and the N10 combined. But the ADs from Blanchard valley loving wrestling like they do wanted to keep the integrity of their conference and kept the brackets separate and champs wrestled for overall and runner ups for third and thirds for 5th overall. One problem this wasn’t shown on baumspage for either bracket and they called it an exebition. They could took notes from the SBC and called the highest placer from each conference the champs of respected conferences.

The great thing about SBC wrestling compared to the other sports is the individual champs are just that. Sandusky Bay Conference champions. They are not wrestling for a division but the whole conference. Then like you said the old SBC was always tough before but much more now. Does hurt to lose Oak Harbor as it had nothing to do with the wrestling program. They sadly leave a conference that can get rocking to a conference that you can hear crickets. Sometimes I wish individual sports could just join their own conferences separate from the sports that seem to determine everything for other sports.

For the second time two number ones will battle for a SBC title. Division 3 number 1 Kohen Horvath of Edison and Division 2 number 1 Kaiyon McKinney of Perkins will battle for the 165 pound weight class. Not to mention Division 3 ranked number 3 Braxton Quaintance of Lakota will also be competing at the 165 weight class. This is gotta be the toughest bracket for conference in the state! Then you can throw in D3 #14 Malakii Pinkerton of Port Clinton and D2 #22 Nico Helton of Norwalk for good measure. This is one weight class! They all have state ranked wrestlers! Lance Overmyer of Clyde is #1 at 157, Luke James is #1 at 175, then returning state champ Abe Hermes is #2 at 126. Then another #3 Marcus Medina will battle with Overmyer at 157 then coming in at #4 Wyatt Nemitz of Perkins will battle with Abe Hermes. These match ups are nuts! If you miss Saturday you miss the Best wrestling conference the state has to offer period. The Sandusky Bay Conference is Wrestling! Two more days and this event is about to go down!

Sandusky Bay Conference Wrestling returns this Saturday! All three divisions converge in Lakota where every weight class will have one individual victorious from the 20 school field. Since the 2017-2018 season the SBC has become a super power wrestling conference where state champs and state placers wrestling for a conference title has become the norm. The conference has its share of #1 ranked guys every year and even Division 2 and Division 3 #1s battling in the championship. Though the Team titles are divided by divisions the overall score is what is truly coveted. Milan Edison has won this ever since the mega league was formed until last year when Perkins dethroned the bay division giant. Will Edison be able to return to the top? Can Perkins repeat as overall SBC champs? Not so fast! The conference has returned to Lakota from Norwalk after several years being held at the capital of Huron county. Lakota has horses and this might be the first time a school from the River division goes on the hunt for the overall SBC title. This Saturday it will all unfold and history shall be made!

The defense stands up too much at the point of contact, they don’t know how to stay low. They don’t run through blockers and shedding the block. They try to run around blockers and give too much ground and take themselves out of the play. Some of the secondary would stop and square up on down field blockers waiting for them. Once again run to the blocker shedding with inside or outside arm depending on position for containment. Offensive line didn’t give enough time for the passing game and that’s Willard’s key to score. Those big guys need to wrestle! Stay low, hand fighting and leverage seem to be lacking. There were times when they would make a good play just not enough consistent play.

Willard could win the River but stay humble because we should be in the Bay! I think Willard would have been fine in the Bay this year anyhow but the top teams are good football teams in the River so we shall see

Does Willard's success give the River schools second thoughts, especially if they rack up 50-60 points against Lakota this week? You would thinks so

Come back to Willard mr Rothaar Yeah really, I don’t blame him for leaving the way Willard Football was heading but they are scoring on offense with Robinson quarterbacking, showing he is talented through the air! I think he would do better stat wise at Willard next year and Harry is gonna be as good at quarter back after Robinson for his senior year. At first I was wondering if Harry should be starting possibly but Isaac has been outstanding this year and those receivers are not letting him down either!!!

Lakota could win it overall in a year or two! But the SBC is a great wrestling conference. If the future of the SBC splits to a Sandusky River Conference and the SBC. They still need to keep the wrestling tournament together. It’s unfortunate we are losing Oak Harbor.

Looks like Tiffin Columbian is shifting their line up some to knock off the Edison Chargers! Maddox Simcoe going 150 to beat Duke Hermes possibly and Brody Conley going 215 to knock Jacob Thompson out of a championship and leaving another possible placer at 175. It will tighten things up and leaving other key matches like Max Hermes versus Billy Smith and Minnick for Columbian against Clydes Overmyer as well as Columbians Max Ray versus Willard’s Shadrick Slone very important for Columbian and Edison finishing at the top of the SBC overall. It’s gonna be an exciting overall team race this year. I’m ready for tomorrow to watch the greatest Wrestling Conference tournament in the Land!!! #LETS GO!!! Heard the Chargers countered with some moves of their own before the deadline. Gamesmanship. So I have heard, not sure Edison moving hurt Columbian that much. If Lloyd stayed at 190 he still wins and knocks columbians guy out of the championship which was 11pts alone just for the semis advancement points into the championship. On the other hand if Columbian knew Lloyd came down to 175 they might had moved Max Ray there to try and win that one. So yeah things got out I guess. But Columbian needed Smyth to win against Duke, which went to double overtime, to keep Edison from getting the 11 points there. Anyhow, sounds like bylaws are going to be updated as a lot of them are not followed anymore.

I like the SBC for wrestling, it’s nice having a 16 man bracket for a conference. Another nice thing is half the schools going D2 for sectionals and the other half going D3 the following week. Since the playoffs in football are easy to get into now compared to the past why not play conference home and away with the fewer conference Division teams. Five in the lake as well as the Bay. There is 8 games then schedule two non conference. At least till you take in new members. I know everything is based off football and Clyde and Bellevue playing twice should be good at the gate. Anyhow not sure how a home and away would be received but I think a lot of times these teams would split. All this being said in a perfect world the conference should be based on wrestling. As we know the world isn’t perfect!

Team Race: just to seem to be a lot of guys out this year with injuries and lower placers are hard to determine and will change placement of teams especially towards the end of the top ten. 1) Edison: after all the injuries it still looks like Edison will come out 1st 2) Columbian: sounds like Tiffin lost some guys as well and will hold off any serious threat of capturing the title. 3) Clyde: seems to be rising up to a conference power like days of old.] 4) Oak Harbor: coming in fourth but may have the lower placers coming through consolations to rise higher up. 5) Perkins: Very solid light weights that have to win some key matches 6) Bellevue: Looks to be in the thick of things and possibly higher. 7) Lakota: the very talented young team showing the power that is to come and start dominating the Conference! 8) Gibsonburg: Taking the next spot with solid contributing team mates should hold off anybody else. 9) Willard: could possibly end here if able to secure a couple Championships which won’t be easy and may not get a lot of team support to rise or hold off other teams from passing 10) Norwalk, Huron, and Port Clinton all are bigger teams and may just pass Willard with their lack of depth.

Unfortunately it looks like the Lake Division will once again be separate from the Bay and River Division. This really takes away from the SBC being an awesome wrestling conference. They might as well just divide it up into separate leagues if we can’t have an overall SBC individual champion per weight class. Big let down! Why would they split the leagues up and not have an overall champ? What’s the point in that? I guess they are still trying to rule the world through covid

175: The most talented individual in the SBC will be looking for his fourth Conference title 1) Brody Conley Columbian 2) Logan Lloyd Edison a clear finalist and a dangerous opponent 3) Broch Mansor Oak Harbor 4) Izacc Prochnow Bellevue
190: 1) Landon Cook Columbian 2) Kenyon Adkinson Oak Harbor 3) Keegan Wooten Huron 4) Cole Beltran Bellevue Another weight where I could have someone I’m missing on.
215: 1) Evan Straub Bellevue who has a win last season over 2) Jacob Thompson Edison 3) Dylan Schiets Oak Harbor 4) Manny Aller Columbian
285: should be another clear favorite 1) Brock Nunez Bellevue 2) Jackson Berardi Edison 3) Seth Stanley Margaretta 4) Elijah Perkins Huron

138: 1) Bret Minnick Columbian and should be an interesting finals with the talented freshman. 2) Will Stanley Clyde 3) Owen Miller Oak Harbor 4) Clayton Alley Bellevue
144: 1) Kohen Horvath Edison 2) Maddox Simcoe Columbian and should be another excellent finals worth admission in of its self! 3) Cade Petersen Oak Harbor a solid grappler again that could challenge. 4) Dax Heuring Bellevue but not sure who else could be lurking at this weight.
150: once again will be a well anticipated with a solid four guys on my radar! 1) Justin Smythe Bellevue 2) Duke Hermes Edison 3) CJ Poole Columbian Columbian 4) Hayden Buhro Oak Harbor
157: 1) Connor Smith Gibsonburg should be the clear favorite but interesting finals from 2) Jack Zeitzheim Oak Harbor 3) Keegan Schoen Perkins 4) Braxton Quaintance Lakota
165: will be another top notch finals like 113! 1) Shadrick Slone Willard who won a tight head to head last season in the 3rd period over 2) Max Ray Columbian but like mentioned earlier above Max has upgraded to a loaded room while Shadrick doesn’t have the talent in the room like last year. Will be another exciting finals match! 3) Remington Bauer Edison who can’t be over looked followed by 4) Carvie Jones Sandusky who had a big win last week over state ranked and who I choose to mention at fifth. 5) Cade Carroll Clyde

106: clear favorite 1) Abe Hermes Edison Not sure how the next three finish but at this point I went in this order 2) Sawyer Smith Perkins 3) Joshua Cornell Port Clinton 4) Lane Thacker Lakota
113: This will be up for grabs and an exciting finals match and an excellent semi finals on the bottom side of the bracket! 1) Max Hermes Edison 2) Billy Smith Perkins 3) Michael Judge Oak Harbor These are three top guys in the conference and if they are all three in this weight come conference it will be an exciting weight to watch. 4) Braylen Williams Huron I picked to be top four but I’m sure I’m overlooking somebody.
120: 1) Wyatt Nemitz Perkins I have as the top guy followed by 2) CJ Fisher Clyde 3) Kaleb Ruhl Norwalk I feel confident at this point and rounded it out with 4) Brady Losie Oak Harbor, but look for any comments on someone I may have missed
126: This might be the most unknown weight in the SBC but went with currently 132 ranked that is suppose to move down this week. 1) Connor Robbins Willard Not sure who may else move in but went with what little I know at this point for the following. 2) Grant Woodruff Bellevue 3) William Jackson Port Clinton 4) Hayden Graffice Norwalk
132: Should be another highlight finals match 1) Lance Overmyer Clyde 2) Marcus Medina Edison 3) Zach Oprzadek Perkins 4) Brayden Myerholtz Oak Harbor I may have missed someone but I’m limited in my information as well for this weight class.
