Heavy, I noticed this is your first year commenting regularly on SP football. Lately I’ve come to wonder who you have been supporting! You either support SP or you don’t matter. Recently you’ve been flopping around like a fish. My comment wasn’t meant for the lay person, it was meant to be noticed by a specific group.
I have all the confidence we will figure this out and get a W on Saturday with our bad attitude Captain!!!
Thanks again for your support...The WellingtonToyman

21-14 SP over Edison. Both teams ran the ball pretty well. Edison JV team outscored/played SP.

As I posted earlier this year SP will be more run heavy than normal. I also noted they would need to replace a couple O-line and linebackers that started for them the last 3 years. When you look at area competition I still think SP will be okay. They will improve as the season progresses.
They might be a smaller team than most but if you were at the scrimmage you have to be impressed with the technique and how hard the JV and Freshman groups played. They were really undersized but took it to the Keystone group rather easily.

St Paul will be more run heavy than usual this year. 3 Senior running backs that will see plenty of touches. Biggest replacement areas from LY is to find a couple guys on the offensive line plus both inside linebackers on defense.
7 on 7 are great but don’t hold much weight when it comes to live game situations and 11 on 11. St Paul will win the conference again, because of better prepared athletes/coaches. They also have 2 All Ohio video guys In the booth.

I could see saying parents in Basketball or Baseball but football? Not sure how many fields where a referee is hearing a fan or parent screaming at them. (Maybe a Coach)
30 years of watching and being involved in high school football I would say the decline in quality referees!

Great job to all that helped make the NSP baseball/softball fields a reality. It is much appreciated by the players and fans. I think we had a record night for attendance at the baseball game yesterday.
Now if this young team can practice more and keep getting better they could make things interesting by tournament time.

I would agree that they have had talent including this year that they should have had better success. I posted in the beginning of the year that I thought they could compete with any team in the league. They did compete but fell short on 5 games.
5 hard to swallow defeats. •Plymouth loss, up by 20 never should have happened •Both losses to Western, should have split •Both losses to SC, should have split If the above would have happened, they could have been the Champs this year. Shoulda, coulda, woulda
2 bad losses, mainly because they seemed not ready to play •loss to Margaretta •loss to Perkins Both teams came out and played physical and the players didn’t handle it well.
Willard was just way better, I don’t think they could have done anything different.

Option #1 Griffin, option #2 Winslow’’s and option #3 Kashian’s nobody is arguing that when it comes to scoring. My point to you was your butt isn’t at practice and you aren’t breaking down film and looking at stats during game situations. The coaches use all of that info when deciding who they want out there as the game changes. I’ll be the first to say they make decisions that I wouldn’t make but I’m not the coach.
No, I don’t think the senior starters last week is the best lineup either. That was a great gesture by the coach and I don’t think that had any bearing of the outcome. If I was going to criticize anything it would be better use of the bench during game situations. That could be from matchup issues or having a shorter leash when things are going south.
There has not been a game all year that was close where Griffin was on the bench in the 4th quarter.(Not one) Maybe 3 games all year where 1 of the Winslow’s didn’t play as much as YOU think they should have in the 4th qt. 1 of those game they were down by 19 against Perkins and this past weekend against SC and the 1st game against SC. Obviously the coach felt at that time the lineup he had out there gave him the best matchup.
Since you are the basketball Czar I’m sure you would have coached this team to an undefeated season.

FCC108 can you send me your stats of all the St. Paul games that you personally did yourself? Do you have the breakdown on how many points are scored with certain combinations of players on the court? Do you know how many qts this year when the other team applies pressure to the leading scorers on the team they have struggled to score or issues with turnovers? Do you have the stats for poor shots and turnovers? I would say you don’t, but I bet the coach and his staff knows.
You were at the South Central game? Correct. What quarter was the game lost? How many points did Blair have in qt one? How many points did Blair have in qt 2? How many turnovers in the first half for SP? How many turnovers in the second half? I’m not saying I agree with every move the coach makes (I don’t) but if your going to express yourself you better come with some facts? How many points did the seasons leading scorer have for SP? How many points did their second leading scorer have? SC tried to take them out of the game and they did. I would have loved to see some players come back in before they did but the coach did what he thought would give them the best chance to win that night.
Let us educate the people about this last game, since it was 1 of the games you came to.
1. qt 1 sp 13-12 (Blair had 1pt) 2. qt 2 SC 20-13 (turnovers poor defense)(Blair had 10pts) 3. qt 3 SP 15-13 (Blair started off with a quick 5 pts then quiet after the first 3 minutes, SP gave up a huge 3 as the qt expired) 4. qt 4 SC 15-14 (Blair 4pts) 5. SP leading scorer has 2pts, good scouting and prep work by SC, it is hard to win when your leading scorer has 2pts 6. How many turnovers in the first half for SP? (10) How many turnovers in the 2nd half? (5) 7. What qt did SP have the majority of the turnovers in? Pretty easy if your paying attention FCC108, 2nd qt the same qt where SP was outscored and Blair had his big qt.
Since you know more than the Coach what was the line-up he used in the 2nd qt? I could go on and on, game by game and we could do this all night long. I’ve said this before and I will say it again, the Coach is going to play and do what he thinks gives him the best chance to win. (Not saying I agree) However I have noticed small changes here and there in decisions being made that gives me some hope they have it figured out for the playoffs.
Good Luck Flyers and remember, teams win not individuals. Perfect example of this would be SP Football or I’ll even throw in the NE Patriots. (Not the owner)

St. Paul has a nice group of kids that would join the Winslow’s next year.
•Furlong is long and can play defense and shoot •Houck is another nice player, shoots the 3 well and attacks the basket •Baker is shooting the ball well and is an intelligent player •Adelman is handling the ball well and can also shoot and score from many spots on the floor •Shepherd has had some very strong games this year scoring and rebounding (scored a high of 37 and probably averaging close to 20)
All of these boys except for Furlong currently play JV, but they have had a very strong season 19-3. I think next years St Paul team would resemble a Western team with their players ability. (I said resemble, I’m talking about how well they shoot the ball) Most of the younger guys currently playing JV can shoot the 3 ball very well and would definitely be guard heavy on the court.

Not sure both Kashian’s on the floor would make this team better. Majority of the teams SP has faced so far seem to be guard oriented and athletic. I’m a fan of both boys and I think them rotating at the 5 is working well. SP has only been out of 2 games this year vs. Margaretta and Willard. (Both of those teams are long and very athletic).
I deleted my next 3 sentences because it was exactly what I tell my son not be.
At the end of the day the coach decides who plays so it is up to him and he is going to do what he wants. No negative or positive comments on this forum is going to change it!

Define best Player? Leading scorer or the guy who impacts his team the most in Wins? Is Hood even playing for WR?
A couple other guys who might be in the discussion. Markley from WR and Griffin from SP.

St Paul-20th toughest schedule in their division (108 teams) not great
Edgerton-38th toughest schedule in their division (108 teams) not impressive either
It would look like just maybe the FC wins out this time. From what I have watched on film so far the teams that Edgerton played looked very similar to the bottom of the FC. There were no teams that they played that looked like SP, Mapleton or Monroeville.
We will find out Saturday night!

2017 Minster- State Champ 2016 John F Kennedy- State Champ 2015 Magadore - State runners-up 2014 Marion Local- State Champ
Here are the last 4 teams that St Paul has lost to in the playoffs. If Edgerton wins then I guess they have a great chance of winning it all. I keep hearing how this SP team isn’t the same caliber of past SP teams, maybe they aren’t the same but hopefully they go out and kick some ***. I will take this undersized, small senior class and young SP team coached by JL and his staff all day long. Go Flyers!

Pressbox................ I could see Western beating SC, but I hope SC finds a way to continue winning. Let's hope Mapleton doesn't come into the SP game thinking "SP isn't as powerful as usual" or they will find themselves on a long quite bus ride home. GO FLYERS!
