50/50 raffles ARE permitted at playoff games. This restriction was lifted a few years ago.

On top of that, when does Ohio start saying that...hey...basketball was unfair with so few divisions, what about baseball/softball/wrestling/etc.? If 200 schools per division is deemed not fair for basketball, what about the other remaining sports? Can we handle that onslaught? This may be a sign of things to come for all team sports. Boys Basketball is the largest with 800 teams. If this does happen you will surely have some baseball and softball supporters wanting the same. Wrestling is not a team sport so it may still be viewed differently. Yes...I've also heard that expanding divisions in other team sports is also on the horizon for the reasons you mention.

From what I understand, the current plan that's being given the most consideration would be expansion to 7 divisions. D1 and D2 would be 64 teams each and D3 through D7 would be divided as evenly as possible. By my math, that would mean roughly 133-135 teams in each.

The NWDAB put out a release yesterday stating that all 2024 boys and girls sectional tournament games will be hosted by the higher seed. This has been coming for a while. Most if not all other athletic district boards have been doing this for years and the NW has stayed with neutral sites. I don't necessarily mind this, but it could very well make travel longer for some of the lower seeds. In our girls sectional last year, that would have meant Edison going down to Clear Fork and then Huron going down to Clear Fork. Those are two really long drives.

I think this begs the question of how this conflict happened in the first place.

I just went through the minutes of their most recent board meeting and DeLaney's supplemental contract isn't even on the agenda anywhere.

Personally, I LOVE this rule change. Hopefully, it will discourage some of the incessant fouling at the end of games.
As a scorekeeper...they will now have to re-program all the scoreboards and re-design the scorebook page.🙂

We long ago reached the point in HS athletics where parents have been made to feel like they have a voice in every daily aspect of running a program. I feel that a lot of that has to do with administration and BOEs being unwilling to tell them that they don't.

I know a lot of people here in Upper didn't like him, but the fact of the matter was...he was a very, very, VERY nice human being. He got the better of us more than a few times, but he was always way beyond respectful of what we brought to the table.

I'm afraid the days giving a Coach at least 3 years are on alert It must be really bad to fire a coach after 1 year. Most schools don’t want the headache of going through the hiring process again so quickly. He officially resigned, but someone over there told me he did so because he wasn't confident he would be renewed. He even took a shot at the Bucyrus administration in his letter. The fact that he is soon getting married probably made the decision easier.

Here is the 1st Rankings New Washington Buckeye Central 10-1 Mansfield Christian 6-2 Lakeside Danbury 7-3 New London 6-5 Greenwich South Central 4-6 Plymouth 3-7 Lucas 2-8 Monroeville 2-7 Norwalk St. Paul 0-10 Crestline 2-4 Mansfield St. Peter's 0-5 Sandusky St. Mary's 0-9 Here is how the rankings are calculated Martin RPI Formula = (WP x 35%) + (OWP x 35%) + (OOWP x 25%) + (SSF x 5%) WP: winning percentage. Just your good ol’ wins and losses. OWP: opponents’ winning percentage. Basically just a rating of your strength of schedule. OOWP: opponents’ average opponents’ winning percentage. An example for this would be like saying Ohio State gets more points for beating a 15-3 Michigan State team than Dayton would get for beating a 15-3 Davidson team. This is because Michigan State’s 15 wins come against much tougher opponents playing in the Big Ten than Davidson’s opponents in the Atlantic 10 Conference. SSF: School Size Factor. It’s a leveled point system which makes it slightly more beneficial to play schools larger than you. Table for how that works: D1: 5.5 D2: 5.0 D3: 4.5 D4: 4.0 For each opponent you’ve played, you’d average these values to obtain your SSF, which makes up 5% of the RPI. You left out 1-9 Seneca East, who is #7 between Plymouth and Lucas.

Not to quibble, but Crestview is not listed in this district when the site assignments were published by the NW District about a week ago. They are definitely still a D3 NW District school according to the OHSAA master list. I have a message in to Mr. Martin asking him to look into this.

It had been brought up before. It had been ongoing. There had been tough conversations before. A promise to change. A temporary change in behavior then back sliding. I can't speculate as to why there was not a coaching change made. I wish I knew. I'm a but a small internet troll with an inflated ego of his own. The biggest problem with the media here, is Jake Furr does anything for clicks, I'm not a huge fan of how he does things. Agreed. He lacks objectivity, as do several media members in the area.

Don't know details, but I've had a few people tell me that this has been been building up for a while (as in a few years) and the events of the playoff game against Upper that were referenced in the article may have been the final straw.

Games for the Week of 11/14-11/19 Thursday November 17th Mohawk at New Riegel Friday November 18th Bucyrus at Vanlue Carey at Riverdale Colonel Crawford at Northmor Seneca East at Hopewell-Loudon Upper Sandusky at Van Buren Wynford at River Valley Saturday November 19th Upper Sandusky at Riverdale Buckeye Central at Willard Bucyrus at Marion Elgin Colonel Crawford at Western Reserve I assuming that you took these off the N10 website because many of these aren't right. The games listed there always list the N10 team first no matter if it's home or away. That's why some games say "at" and some say "vs" (meaning it's a home game).

Wow. Did not see that coming. Anyone provide details on how the game went? Short story: CC held the lead through 3 quarters, but self inflicted wounds throughout, prevented them from putting the game out of reach. CC's defense couldn't stop the league's leading pass offense from scoring twice in the fourth quarter to send game into OT. Longer story: crawfordcountynow.com/sports/upper-sandusky-shocks-colonel-crawford/Elsewhere in the N10: Seneca East 38, Bucyrus 17 Wynford 35, Buckeye Central 15 Upper Sandusky 30, Colonel Crawford 29 (OT) Carey 48, Mohawk 0 CC missed a FG with about 3 minutes left that would have put the game out of reach. Upper took advantage and drove down to get the game-tying TD and 2-point conversion with 11 seconds left in regulation. CC got the ball 1st in OT and scored on their very 1st play. Upper scored on 4th down in the OT, went for two and the win, and converted. Great finish.

The puzzler on this is that the Bucyrus bosses feel they can attract a better candidate than Egan. I'm not trying to say they had the best coach in Ohio but the those guys will not be applying at Bucyrus. They had a guy that wanted to be there with the knowledge and experience to run a program. I told someone yesterday that my perception from a distance is that this is a district that makes you wonder if they'll ever get it right. I can probably count up the total # of league titles they've won in the 20 or so years that they've been in the NCC/N10 and not use up all my fingers. In the last year, they have replaced/non-renewed their AD, girls basketball coach, and now their boys basketball coach. When they don't see the desired results, they send the coach packing and the cycle starts all over again.

Only if SMCC didn't have a team. SSM is a choice, so they could make another, and play for their home school. As long as SMCC has a basketball team, kids who are enrolled there have to play basketball there.

I know I shouldn't have said what I did. Mea culpa.
The short time frame within which CC made its comeback made it that much more shocking. It will be tough to make it out of that regional, but anything can happen in March. It often does.

ive already blown a gasket over this.. why is it EVERY YEAR determined Lexington as the host site, but fans are screwed because the other game moves away... why doesn't this regional rotate teams either??? so the north central teams get screwed with playing Africentric every single year they make it in the first round.. boys don't do this...neither do other regional girls.. something totally smells about this.. I believe that Central District teams can choose to draw into either of two districts. I don't think it's predetermined.
