Just a side note from the Toledo game last night. CJ Nossaman was the long snapper for Toledo. Willard folks will know who that is. Congrats to CJ!

Yes. It's official. You can go to games tonight, but starting tomorrow, immediate family only. This includes the girl's state basketball tournament, the boy's state wrestling tournament, and the boy's state basketball tournament.

I am watching this game online through Spectrum, and let me just say that I want to stab every single person swinging the cowbells. SO irritating to listen to while trying to watch the game.

How many schools in the N10 have soccer, tennis, swimming, and bowling? Would Willard have to play an independent schedule in those sports?

A documentary aired on PBS a couple of nights ago. The subject was the 2012 Steubenville case involving football players. For those of us who were on this site back then, it was a major topic of discussion (not just here, but all over). Here is a link to watch it, I thought it was well done. www.pbs.org/video/roll-red-roll-2wj4nb/

Looks like there should be a couple of good games in Willard. I always enjoy watching the 2 semi games in 1 night there.

Restaurants that I miss:
Showboat in Huron. Loved going there as a teenager. Twine House in Huron. Good food, great views. Fanny Baer's in Sandusky. The house salad there was made at the table. It had mandarin oranges, shrimp, and green goddess dressing. Lee's in Willard. Loved the onion rings and walleye sandwich. McClain's in Bellevue. Good food and great lemonade (you could get it spiked with either gin or vodka). Cedar Villa in Sandusky. 22 oz porterhouse with a side of spaghetti. Awesome. Mountain Jack's in Elyria. Yes, it was a chain, but the steaks and prime rib were really good.
And I agree with clb6110, the Huddle was a "unique" place.

To me, this has absolutely nothing to do with Haas or Noss. The reality is that the program is currently a dumpster fire. The cause of that can be debated, but the true blame can be shared by everyone involved. Coaches, school board, players, and parents. If everyone is to blame, then what is the school board to do? They are not going to fire themselves. (I wish that some of them would.) The only thing they can change is the coach. Did Coach Long get a raw deal? In some ways, perhaps. But the results just are not there. It was time for a replacement.

CC's future looks bright, but St. Pete's is on another level. They are a fun team to watch. My biggest concern with St. Pete's is that they don't seem to have any depth. If they get into foul trouble against a really good team, it might get interesting.

I still am not sure how Ignatius lost that game, but they did. Hard to believe a team with a 5-5 record wins the big school title.

Just a handful of plays made such a difference last night. The fumble at the end of the first half was a 15 point swing as well as a huge momentum switch. Shelby really was out-manned, but did a great job of hanging in there. Armstrong is a tough kid. The offensive line struggled as the game wore on, giving no time to find receivers.
Overall a great job by Shelby and a great season. Congrats.
