I heard a not so good rumor that Peans Monroeville could be closing. Probably my favorite in NC Ohio. Toss up between Bakers Bucyrus and Peans but I give slight edge to Peans. Anyway can anyone confirm or deny? I'd hate to lose that place. Hope that's not true. Stopped for 1st time tonight with family and pizza was top notch. Very busy too

I guess I haven't been paying attention lately but how long has it been since OHSAA moved away from the Thur-Sat games to the Fri-Sun games? I can't imagine Sunday attendance is as good as the Saturday championships games of the past. Dayton... bahh give me the old St Johns any day. Good luck Shelby. First four of NCAA mens tournament are at University of Dayton Thursday, that's the reason this years OHSAA tournament is the way it is.

Toledo CC will win the district this year imo. After being kicked out of the tournament last year for recruiting violations, they have a very solid quick team with a Loyola commit and a couple excellent three point shooters. The only weakness may be they are not very tall and do not crash the boards well. Dont be fooled by their record they are solid

Speaking of refs, how does a team call a timeout when the opponent has the ball? Unless the rules have changed, and unless the refs see an injured player etc, the defense is not permitted to call a TO without possession

Game is at the House that Haas built. Home teams on home floors in this rivalry can be worth 10 pts or more imo -- just the way it usually works. Unless there is a big disparity in talent, which there is not, the home team usually wins in this rivalry. Bet on the Flashes in this one.

Article in the Columbus Dispatch today says that Ohio State and Dusty May are in preliminary talks about the opening. Only has a $1 million buyout. OSU could do worse, he's on the rise in national coaching esteem

Don't think either team or community needs any more buildup for this rivalry. Just hoping fo r a good clean game and nobody gets an injury. Both squads could make some damage in the tourney if healthy

Shelby big favorites coming into Willard I guess. Hope we can stay on the court with em. Sorry Buckeyekid but No way is Shelby big favorites AT Willard. Flashes are a very good team, Dawson is an outstanding player, he has great support and Bedingfeld and Hirshey are veteran, great coaches. Frankly, I look for Willard to pull it out in a hotly contested game. History proves the Flashes enjoy a huge home court advantage in the house that Haas built. This Willard contingent ranks right up there with some of the best teams the Flashes have ran out over the years.

May not win again this season
Real problem is that program will be bad next couple years after Holtmann is canned and present players leave via portal and new coach has to rebuild from scratch.
This is on Gene Smith as much as anyone. But at least Holtmann hasn't slugged an opposing coach in his tenure.

Think it is fair to say that Shelbys dominance in both boys and girls basketball in the MOAC ends after this season. How many teams in the OCC and SBC divisions are above .500 this year? Things tend to be cyclical in most leagues and sports over the years

More from Jake Furr:
It is the first time in Shelby history a boys basketball team has won five straight league championships. The Whippets are 60-3 in the last five years in league play.

Rankings do not necessarily translate into performance. And yes that is where coaching comes into placebut its not a 30-pointdifference. Too many individuals and not enough team players and that's Holtmanns fault This was the post I made. I did mot mention Day as jakethesnake2 incorrectly altered and changed. Carry on
