On to week 2 we go!!! The 1-0 Cardington Pirates will be traveling to Heise Park to take on the 1-0 Galion Tigers. The Pirates defeated Worthington Christian 53-14 on Friday night and the Tigers defeated Bucyrus 34-0. This is the second and final meeting between these two teams as a second two year contract was cancelled. Cardington picks up Bucyrus next year and Galion will be playing Carey. Cardington won last year's game 35-14 at home, which is the only time these schools have ever met. Thoughts on this one.....

I believe it will be a closer game than last year. I don't know if either team is improved yet. Cardington-Lincoln did some things well and were sloppy in some other areas. What you would expect in a first game. Cardington-Lincoln has a young roster.

I kinda think it's a toss up myself. Ya never know this early in the season whether game 1 scores are indicative of anything. Galion probably could have scored more. I think I'll give the early advantage to Cardington based on Bucyrus' weakness as a game 1 opponent and last years win by Cardington. Glad it's at home at least . If I remember right, there was talk on this board about this game having a lot of penalties last year.

What school didn't want another 2 year contract? Did Galion want to play all 3 non-league games against N-10 schools? I ask because this is the 2nd year of a 2 year contract between Cardington and Ontario. Haven't heard if there will be another one.

I don't know for sure. It was originally posted on arbiterlive as being at Cardington in 2018 and at Galion in 2019. Then both games showed up as cancelled and Galion showed Carey and Cardington showed Bucyrus.

Cardington-Lincoln will no longer play Galion or Ontario after this year.

Frankly, I don't know if we have any back that I could say is Speedy or Powerful.
We have backs that seem to have decent speed and some power. I wish we did have one or the other (one super quick back and one bruiser).

I don't know how good of a quarterback Harrison Ivy is either. I do know that kid is an amazing receiver. I've got a video catch of him catching a 45 yard pass off the back of a Cardington defender last year. That catch was amazing. It was called for pass interference, but he caught it anyway. Galion probably just had nobody who could successfully be a quarterback on the team. You put your best players in key positions. They probably had to make Harrison a QB. I wish him and the team the very best!!! Go Tigers!!
***This might be a good game for me to catch this week.

My daughter told me that we had a kid ejected from the Bucyrus game. If true, that means he's ineligible to play against Cardington. This would be a huge loss as he goes both ways, particularly for our defense.

Yes Galion had I believe number 61 ejected for 2 consecutive personal fouls. One was a late hit out of bounds that was a bit questionable. I was under the same assumption that he would have to be out this week.

One more good thing Galion has going for them is they line coach. He coached here in the past and left to coach at Wynford the last few years. He is back coaching here. The line play was horrible last year and the guy coaching them had never coached football before. I thought the line play was improved last week and hopefully it continues.

Yeah, I think we discussed last year how the Line Coach had no experience. I'm not sure what the thinking was on that hire... The new coach, Maguire, is much better and more experienced.

A lot of players that played for him here weren't fond of him either.... Our line coach last year only coached last year. He's a teacher in Galion.

44-7 Galion at halftime. Tigers moving the ball with pretty much ease.

Congrats to Galion. Their offensive line dominated. Some big big bodies on that line. Good luck.

Good showing by galion 44-21. The halftime score was pretty much the starters. 2nds and 3rds played most of 2nd half. A bit surprising but the team really believed they could win and after the first couple scores that was affirmed.

A few thoughts from my perspective. I agree 100% galion. This was a very pleasant surprise to see the Tigers play this way. The line play was good and the offense spent most of the first moving the ball at will. Cardington showed some good things. That number 5 the running back is a nice back. Really quick he did some nice things. I didn't understand why the constant changing between 12 and 10 at quarterback though. Another nice change with Coach Dick vs the Hawkins days is not nearly so many penalties. It was common if someone broke a long run to see it called back. A nice win I'm going to see what I can find out about Portsmouth.

I'm not sure what the changing qbs was about. We've got a real good QB coach though, maybe he is seeing something that we aren't. Might simply be figuring out how we want to look before KMAC play. Not sure. Good win for Galion. My Pirates definitely have some things they can take away from this though.

Another big improvement for Galion is bringing back Coach Eagle to be the D-Coordinator.
